  • We've all been there, your puppy gulps water and has an accident in the house minutes later. Should you restrict your puppy's water intake? Should you leave a water bowl in their crate? Dr. Kelsey has all the answers for you!

Well my puppy just keeps drinking water and doesn't know her limit so I have no choice but to put her pull up for the time being and I have a bigger dog so having issues with rotating because the puppy will drink a whole entire bowl of water and pee all around the house. Since I cut down on her water though there's been less potty inside.

Thank you. I have a puppy and felt bad about not leaving water available to avoid accidents but I understand that I have to go the long road and find a better way to train and no get her dehydrated because of my laziness.

Yeah this is great if you have a job that lets you sit at home 24/7. Wish we’d talk about what’s realistic. My wife and I split our shifts but there’s still about 4-5 hours the puppy has to be in the crate while we are both at work during the day. Constant access to water simply is not feasible nor is it realistic for the majority of the population.
Now that you’ve made the ideal situation video, can you make one talking about best case realistic scenarios?

This is an ideal way if you are able to be at home all day everyday.

I have no other choice but to put her bowl up and I have a larger dog as well so I have to rotate not an easy job. She comes over and wants to drink even more water. So if you are at home all day best bet is to monitor if you are not at home all day leave the water out. Be safer ideal
