I use 1 ingredient freeze dry treats! He also gets real chicken, frozen fruit like watermelon and blueberries! I won’t feed my dog hotdogs cause it’s not very great for us to eat, but I do freeze dried liver! And salmon 😊 hope those are better choices !

Hi Michelle! New pup owners here in 🇨🇦... we have a 13 week old Malchi pup, Joey. He does NOT fit the typical puppy lol! He won't eat 3 times a day: he'll have breakfast at 8AM but not mid day and sometimes won't even eat dinner (usually 3 or 4 pm). He's full of life and energy, has first 2 shots and vet says he's healthy. He's just not a big eater. Other than rewarding him with his kibble, suggestions for getting him to eat what he needs would be helpful. Thank you!

Congrats on your new fur baby! We're glad your vet says he's healthy. Maybe, just like humans, he is sometimes hungry only at certain times! Great idea for using kibble for reward though so he still gets the nutrients he needs. Here is another great TH-cam video on food-related tips: th-cam.com/video/CG3A1ZUpw0g/w-d-xo.html

Thank you so much for this info, I've learned a lot! ... But how much water can you give to a puppy? I have this 5 month- old beagle, and she seems like thirsty most of the time recently. It's summer here and the temperature is kind of humid too. I'm just wondering if she's just being thirsty because of the weather or she is having a health concern that needs to be addressed? I feed him with a moist kibble as advised by the breeder. I don't know if I'm just giving my pooch too much water on her diet. Tnx

It's best to discuss this with a vet. Try to measure how many ounces she drinks in a day, which will help you vet determine if there's an issue.

My CKCS "Cap'n Jack Spaniel" is a picky eater. He will starve himself for a day and a half at times so I made him a stew with london broil and some carrots and put a little over his food that tends to work. My guy is active just not into dogfood and dog treats. Might switch him to Dr Judy Morgan's pup loaf.

We suggest you resist the urge to doctor up your puppy’s food. If he’s not eating he may be overwhelmed (especially if he’s new to your home), he may have sore gums, an upset stomach or he may be holding out for something better. Puppy kibble contains the most nutrients and we don't want to teach our puppies that if they don’t eat, they get something better next time. When it’s mealtime, put down the food for 10-15 minutes. Then pick up any remaining food and make it part of the next meal but don’t give more than the normal amount (only give what the normal portion would be). All dogs are food motivated, but it might take a few meals for them to get the idea that they should eat what is served at the time it is served.

Michelle, I’ve got a question. I have been doing all the crate training exercises but my puppy still cries and doesn’t like to sleep in the crate. He lays down literally everywhere except there (and he has gone in on his own sometimes but just doesn’t like to stay). Should i put a blanket at night? My puppy never really liked dry food , I would have to throw piece by piece across the tile floor and he would run after it and run back to me with it , eat it , Well that got old for me real quick. Now he will not eat dry food at all . LIke you said , we doctored it up to get him to eat. Now he picks out the dry and only eats the wet food , or chicken , hamb , he likes the dog sliders , we get at a pet food store. So he has not had any dry food in a mth or so , he is 5 mths. How do I reverse this ? After adding yummy people food ........ lol. I have created a monster ,

Their employees can stay with your pup at your home or do check ins! Check out this video for more info: th-cam.com/video/A6doo3BTxrY/w-d-xo.html

Help my 9 week old puppy is grazing because that is what she was used to at the breeder. This is the 2nd day home and she barely eats but is pooing and peeing. I have tried moistening the kibble with water( as suggested by the breeder). This worked a little. We also tried shredding in some chicken liver treats which she loves. Worked for one meal bit she ate only half the meal. We also tried mixing in a teaspoon of Wellness wet puppy pate. She licked a bit but did not eat. I don't know what else to do. Help!

My pup eats regular meals from a small bowl, but he also loves to start each meal with hand feeding and/or a short training session. I know you don’t recommend hand feeding, but it’s worked great for us. As a pretty strong resource guarder as is inherent in his breed, he’s never minded me being near him while eating, and I’ve always been able to get hold of what’s in his mouth if I need to.
