- Puppy Schedule -Daily // A new puppy can be a lot of work but with the right routine you can puppy potty train faster and work on training and manners too. Following a puppy schedule can help you stay ahead of potty training and crate training which will be the first skills you’ll work on with your new dog. When your puppy is on a schedule you’ll be putting pup down for naps. Naps help overtired puppies who are biting.

Thanks for watching Puppy Schedule - Daily. Are you working on creating a consistent schedule for your puppy?
I have a 16 week old Cavalier . Working on schedule which sometimes works other times does not. I also have 5 year old lab mix and they have bonded which is adoreable, cute and scary at times as lab now thinks he is 97 lb lap dog :-) we get up at same time and got to bed at same time each day. I do potty first thing in morning. He is now eating or not eating some breakfast. Will do potty break then training and nap and repeat for afternoon
btw great videos
Would you be able to do a video on preventing resource guarding in puppies. I am getting a German Shepherd puppy next year and we are planning on getting a male. After 2 years of researching, I have found that they can be a bit more protective than females. Also being a large breed dog if there is a resource guarding problem then it will be a lot more difficult and potentially dangerous to deal with. So I was hoping you could make a video on preventing it as your videos are a lot more organised and easy to understand than other videos I have found. Thank you.
How To Train A Dream Dog your Hair looks nice today how did you do it
Our pup is 8 weeks. (Border collie) We got her one week ago. Most of the week has been a bit loosey goosey, with a little routine/structure at night time. We are officially starting a routine and crate training as of today. I have been watching a ton of different training videos today as this is my first puppy ever!
This video has a lot of useful information but the way it was structured really made me work to piece together the schedule. I think a visual list of the times and what each block should include would have been helpful.
Agreed
omg same. like just give us the info and spare us the filler words and like just so much excessive words.
@@melyssamunson She literally gives this for free on her website, I think she said this more than once in the video. It's in the description as well. The free pdf has a visual represntation of a schedule.
my Georgie is 15 weeks and fully potty trained. Having structure and routine is so critical!!!
Give some info please . I am doing good but i really need help on the potty train
@@monicasoto8734 have you grabbed the new puppy starter kit I mentioned in the video? It has a potty training lesson in it. howtotrainadreamdog.com/new-puppy-starter-kit/
Ours too! Great job! We got ours at 8 weeks and potty trained in about 2, maybe 3 weeks max, if not sooner. We have a yard so as soon as he comes put of his crate from napping, he's taken outside right away. So, now as of current, he goes to the door to scratch and be let out when he's running around the house for play time. He's a Pugg, Beagle and Basset Hound Mix

We’ve had our pup for a week now, shes about 10 weeks old. The schedule is totally working! She is thriving on the structure and quickly learned to love her crate.
This is so good to hear!
Did you end up quitting your job?

I actually tried to make notes and got completely lost! Need to find another video to figure this out. Thumbs down.
Hahaha. True
We will be getting our mini labradoodle in about 9 weeks. Thank you so much for making these great videos with such good information. I have my journal for documentation of the puppy’s daily schedule & I am excited to have a few “sleepless” nights😊
We love that you're preparing ahead of time for your new furry friend! Thanks for watching!
I have a 10 week old Miniature Schnauzer who sleeps through the night without so much as a whimper. He’s had 2 accidents in the house due to my not picking up on his excessive playfulness. He’s truly amazing!!
Im getting a mini today so excited any tips would be appreciated
olivia abraham I think getting any dog from a breeder is much better than getting him/her from a pet store. My mini had a wonderful first 8 weeks and I’m convinced that makes all the difference. He was potty trained when I picked him up and sleeps soundly through the night.
@@et1016 I'm getting him from a breeder. Really nice family. Super excited. I made him an Instagram @TheTuckerDiaries_ lol

This is possibly the most useful video I have ever watched! I have a roughly 9 week old Parson Russell Terrier called Daisy, she has been with me one week and so far I have really struggled to get the routine right and balanced. Partly, I have huge guilt over shutting her in the crate for time during the day, but I have begun to get over this, and using you schedule is really helping me understand how often and when to nap, and how to use play and training appropriately for her age! Thank you so much
My puppy is 9 weeks he does really well, usually only wakes up once at night. We are developing a schedule now... watching your channel before I picked him up really helped me!
great video, I will be keeping my puppies kennel in the corner of the living room
Sounds like a good spot!
My puppy is 9 weeks old. We're on day 4 and still trying to establish a schedule. I'm so glad I watched your video and learned that I don't have to wake her to go potty in the middle of the night. Now I can sleep a little better.
Good! I'm so glad you found this helpful.
I’m getting my puppy tomorrow and This video is so helpful

Your a life saver bro 😎
Thank you!
Our puppy Maisy is a 9 week old black lab and we do follow a schedule. I feel like wake up time, potty breaks, short walks and eating are consistent. I think we need to be making sure that she is napping more during the day. Potty training is going well as long as we are consistent at taking her out and not letting her roam all over the house. Maisy still needs a few potty breaks during the night about every 3 hours right now.
You gave a lot of important information. Exactly what i was looking for. Great job.
I am glad you found it helpful!
I am getting a puppy in three weeks time. Soooo excited although this looks like a lot of work

I picked up our new Cavalier puppies, today, a sweet Blenheim and a beautiful Ruby. One is 3 months and the other is 4 months old. Your video is great! I have our boys in a crate and will be starting their schedule, tomorrow. Actually, I will be starting tonight. I'll be setting my alarm for their potty breaks and getting them out a number of times this evening.
How exciting! Here's an important video for you to watch. Even though they aren't littermates, it's still really important to keep them separated (different crates, different pens, different training and potty times) so they can learn to live in a healthy way, apart from one another, and you can avoid littermate syndrome. th-cam.com/video/p_RDIS9yoVo/w-d-xo.html
I'm a week away from picking up my 10 weeks miniature schnauzer and I've been devouring training videos to do as best as possible since I don't have a trainer in my area. Can't wait to start the training!
Thanks for all the attention and care you put into your videos :)
I have an 8 week old puppy and I'm definitely frustrated. Haven't had a dog in over 20 years and she spoiled me because I only had to show her things once and she got it. I got her about the same age as the puppy I have now. With my schedule and my wife's schedule it is very hard to create a routine. We're doing our best and hopefully things will work out.
This was so helpful thank you. My puppy is 15wks old. She knows sit. Paw. Stay. Come. Roll over. Play dead. Drop. Leave. Bed. Walkies. And recall. She knows her own routine and it works brilliantly. X
What kind of smart dog is this?
This is so clear, concise and detailed! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Schedules are good. Our Corgi was trained very quickly on a schedule. We just bought a dachshund, so since it's been a while since we had a puppy, I am refreshing myself on some of the little details I may have forgotten in the last eight years.
My puppy is 4 weeks. I'm going to visit him next weekend and then taking him home in the beginning of august. This is my fist time as a puppy owner (have had adult dogs before) I'm trying to prepare myself as much as posible.. so thank for great tips.

My puppy is 10 weeks. I have started a schedule but your information really explains it better . Thank you
I'm so glad! Schedules are so so important.
It took a little bit of time for us to find a schedule. We had to go on a 14 hour journey via car ride after we got her, but we stopped often on the journey and made sure she was as comfortable as we thought she could be during the car ride. I do love the advice for schedules, I guess I’m a stress monkey when it comes to worrying on wether shes going to develop separation anxiety, or how concrete a schedule I need to keep to make sure shes happy. The great thing is that she never barks at dogs, people, or most anything. Only when she’s separated from her humans does she start to vocalize her anxiety…
Should have mentioned she’s a Pyrenees, 3 months old. 😅
It would be great to start to build her confidence away from you. It's good to start that now, while her brain is so open to new things and building positive opinions. I think this video will help you: th-cam.com/video/2gSQe2hTrE4/w-d-xo.html

I've watched about 15 of your videos before i subscribed. I have a 9 week old Brittany, brought him home 7 days ago and your videos along with zak georges are great. My puppy at just 9 weeks is already getting the hang of come, down (still working with it) and today he learned heel and I was so proud! Would you recommend sleeping near the crate at the beginning? Wondering how I’m supposed to hear or see him stirring at night? Thank you for amazing video’s
yes i personally suggest that, as that is what a lot of my friends did when they first got their puppy and that is what im going to do. You only have to do it for a few weeks until your puppy gets used to the crate.
This can work but you have to very gradually move the puppy away from you over several nights. If you suddenly don't sleep by the puppy it can get separation anxiety.
Your puppy’s crate should be kept on the same floor as the door you go out to go potty. You should not be carrying them downstairs in the middle of the night for their middle-of-the-night potty trip.
Typically we keep the crate in the kitchen or dining room if the space allows because this will usually be more centrally located in the home and usually doesn’t have carpet which makes accident clean up easier because of the hard surfaces (flooring).
It’s ok if your crate is near a room where there is activity. Your puppy doesn’t need to be in complete isolation. As a matter of fact they should learn to get used to hearing sounds but not reacting to them. This means you won’t pay any attention if your puppy is in their crate barking or crying while you are in the same room as them. Remember we don’t reinforce unwanted behavior.
We don’t advise keeping the crate in the bedroom as puppy will likely wake up each time you stir or move and they may think it’s time to get up. We also want to help them work on being away from you and not get accustomed to being by you all the time. This style of training helps them handle your absence when you leave the home for work or errands.
We still follow all the same crate training protocol which includes covering the crate (front and sides), playing calming music, using DAP and the heart beat dog for really young puppies under 10 weeks.
We use a baby monitor to keep track of the puppy when they are in another room. amzn.to/2VUW1cd

Thank you for the detailed explanation on the puppy schedule. My puppy Chloe is 8 weeks old now. I've only had her for 1 week. I believe in having a consistent schedule (as I have raised 3 kids myself). Our day schedule is fairly good. It's the night schedule that's been difficult. Do I wake her up to go potty?
We don't wake a sleeping puppy in most cases. We do use a baby monitor or puppy camera to hear if pup stirs or starts to wake, then we take pup out.

Thank you so much for this video... I really needed it!
Finding it really hard to get any type of schedule going. Our golden retriever is 11 weeks old and we have had him for a week. He is not the least bit interested in his crate. He is up around 8 am and just sleeps whenever he gets tired. There is no going for walks or playtime, when he is done, he is done and naps around every 2-3 hours. He is out like a light around 7:30, but if we don't wake him, he'd be done for the night then awake at 4. We want him to sleep at night in my son's room, but he won't settle down unless he can sleep at his daytime spot by the door. Training videos make this all seem so simple, but reality is a completely different story. It is so frustrating.

Hi Michelle, How do you integrate work, human exercise, cooking and other family duties into this schedule? The nap times are great for work time but need to also integrate other duties. What do you recommend?
We are doing well with potty training but I’m finding hard to figure out how to integrate everything. Thank you!
So sorry we are just seeing this comment now. I apologize that we didn’t see it sooner. We hope all is well with you and your pup.
This is a huge struggle for me, as well. Exercise is so crucial for physical AND mental health. But there’s no room for it - or other activities. I don’t know what to do. Our 8-sk old Vizsla pup does NOT accept pen or crate during the daytime. Only bright spot is he’s doing okay going to crate at night without screaming.
@@Trileeloo my GSP is like this. I have found a way to settle him in his crate tho but it takes me time. playtime must must must be physical play and mental play. He’s had 20 mins playing with my homemade snuffle box, and a cardboard box and went into his bed to sleep. I was stunned. I’ve done none of my yoga so I’m crying daily BUT it’s early days. I have the same struggle so let me know if you have any tips ❤️
9 week old dashaund and yes working on a schedule. Puppy was ween by the mother dog about three weeks early.
Hi I am getting a crossbreed between a corgi and a Aussie, is there any dog beds you suggest
Typically, I hold off on bedding until a dog is past the teething/chewing and potty training stages, otherwise, you'll be spending money on bedding that your dog will chew and destroy.
How To Train A Dream Dog At what age should a puppy\ dog sleep with you on your bed?
Soggy Brownie ok thanks
Any good bed brand though?
Breanna Summer you could order from amazon or home goods. Maybe PetSmart .
These are excellent.
Thanks for watching!
I’m only getting my rescue puppy in two weeks but he will be 18 weeks? What sort of schedule from this age?
He has already be socialised with other dogs
I'd grab the sample schedule in the new puppy starter kit and follow that for at least the first few weeks. howtotrainadreamdog.com/new-puppy-starter-kit/
My puppy, Lincoln, was born Aug 25, 2020 and he came home with me on Oct 24. He is a Shiba Inu. We have started on a pretty good schedule with millions of potty breaks to avoid accidents. Still working on nipping using 5-10 min time-outs in the bathroom to calm down. The nipping usually comes at a time when he is extremely excited. Overall, its been three weeks and I feel that there has been a lot of progress. He knows when I'm firmly saying no or to stop. However, sometimes he will try to see how far he can go. That's when the time-outs come in handy.
This sounds like you guys are on the right track and doing great! 🐶
My puppy is 12 weeks old, loves his crate, is almost fully potty trained, and doesn’t wake up during the night to go potty anymore. Is that normal ?
You are god :0
Mine won't even go inside her crate
Dang, what’s your secret?!😁

Haley Walker idk 😂 ive just been watching a lot of training videos and my pup is a very fast learner as well
Wow I've been pretty lucky with my puppy then. He is 6 months now, I got him at 2 months old. He has actually slept through the night pretty consistently throughout this entire time.
