Hope this will give someone here hope and strength l am 16 years Her2 survivor l am so grateful to all the new treatments and all the medical staff and lab scientist that made this happen for Her2 women.
I know of a friend's wife who had her2+ breast cancer and it became stage iv. She has been on anti her2 drugs and treatments and 12 years later she is still here. The treatments have changed over the years and it's not been an easy journey for her, but she has seen her children grow up.
That’s wonderful news. There are so many new drugs being developed and I hope she’ll be here for many more years to come xx
Hi Doc..
I was diagnosed breast cancer her2 positive… under treatment .. can you help me more on how to deal with it and prevent recurrence… what should I do.
Mine is hers negative
Thanks bro, your reply sound very positive
Thank you for sharing your story we need to have hope here.
Thank you Liz, for this once more very interesting video. It's exactly my situation, HER- positive, stage IV. Just had a breast MRI where new lumps were found. Thanks to you, I am not completely devastated. There are still a lot of things that can be done! Thank you and all the best for you! Beate from Germany
Dear Beate. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Sending you a huge hug x
Thank you so much Liz x you know how much you making this means to me. You’re amazing 🤩 x
You are so welcome!
Keep up the incredible work, Liz
This video and comment section restores hope❤
Thank you so much. I realize these videos take a lot of time and research to produce, so I appreciate that you share this information in a personable and approachable manner.
All the way from Indonesia. Currently on my TC Chemo for my her 2 +++ BC. I believe this too shall pass.. thank you for accompanying Liz ❤
This is exciting and wonderful news. Thank you so much!
It really is!
Thank You so much this video!
Great video breaking it down for people to understand. i am Triple positive with small tumor size, and considering clinical trial using Kadcyla, or TDM1.
I’ve only come across this video liz. I had her2 positive ER positive and PR positive. Found out it was stage 3 after the pathology report. Had chemo, surgery radiotherapy.Doing 14 cycles of tratuzamab, also on tamoxifen. Doing well apart from the tiredness. Thank you for taking the time to do these very informative videos which such a full plate already.
I’m exactly the same as you got my surgery in 2 days it seems a lot doesn’t it but we have to be thankful there is medication to help. Good luck with everything I’m with you 🙏
@@helensmith8349 you’re the only other person I’ve spoken to that’s the same. Most I’ve met are triple negative or ER positive. Hope you’re healing well. Are you doing the adjuvant treatment after?
@@sueb9692 sorry got confused I’m just HER2 positive and E R positive . Having lumpectomy in few days then chemo for about 4 months ,trastuzumbub injections for a year and radiotherapy and I’ve started on tamoxifen already. Not too nervous about surgery but dreading chemo it’s going to be a trying year ahead. Good luck Sue 🦋
@@helensmith8349 tratuzamab is so much easier. Tiredness is bad with it. I’ve neuropathy in my feet now but I’ve just done cycle 10. I’ve 4 more to go. We will get through this. Good luck on the road ahead 💕
A great and well-informed video, thank you
I admire as a doctor myself whose mother is going through her+ breast cancer. Your dedication despite going through this time is remarkable. I know you will get through this. ❤
Thank you x x and I hope your mum is OK
Thank you so much Dr.Liz. please make a video on metastatic triple positive breast cancer and its treatments
There aren’t many new treatments for Er+ cancers but I’ll add this to my list x
Thank you so much for that wonderful video. I’m ER PR postive and my her 2 test was a one. Which is now considered HER 2 Low. Which is great is some ways because now I have more drug options down the road 🎉
It’s reassuring isn’t it?
For sure!!! Your amazing ❤️
very interesting, thanks for your time , doctor!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve just been diagnosed with HER2 + grade 3 breast cancer and need all the information I can get about what is going to happen during my treatment.
I was diagnosed with Hers 2 i have already did surgery now waiting for chemo all will be well
Thanks for your care.
Always!
My wife was misdiagnosed as hers2 negative on core needle biopsy and then changed to hers2 positive after her surgery. She had already had her chemo because her doctor talked her into this new age "chemo before surgery" crap. Now they are going to just give her TDM1 and hope for the best. NEVER let them talk you into chemo first!
All i know is Her2 positive are active cells and there are specific drugs to address it. The thougjt of its recurrence is haunting me sonetines even if im still under medication. But thank you so much for such an enligthening discussion on this topic. It gave us, her 2 positive patients more hope now. God bless
Hello Liz, Thank you so much for all the information you are putting out there. I've watched all of your videos. I was recently diagnosed with HER2 Stage 2; a month after having my baby (found the lump while breastfeeding), I just turned 34. I have talked to my oncologist about recurrence rate and it seems like statistics are somewhat limited because of the fairly new treatments. I would just love to know if in your opinion, HER2 is the type of cancer that always finds its way back, or has there been cases where HER2 stays away for good?
Thank you Liz for a very informative video. Very helpful and easy to understand explanations. I am also a health care worker diagnosed with breast cancer, with no known risk factors. Currently on Kadcycla. Are CDK inhibitors ever used for HER2 + cancers?
The CDK Is are only used for Er+ cancers at the moment.
Great video. 7 yr HER2+ bc survivor/warrior. I had TCHP and was wondering if heart problems could come about years after taking Herceptin. I had MUGA scans during treatment and my cardiac output remained ok. I'm now 72 yrs old and am having issues with cholesterol, HBP and kidney issues (elevated urine ACR). I also take Letrozole because that tumor was also estrogen and slightly progesterone positive. No node involvement, Stage 1c or 1a. thanks.
Hi Dr. Liz, Does the Her2 vaccine come into play during the Her2 (in my case triple positive) journey? If so, at what point? Thank you.
Dr. Liz, what about triple positive, but calcificacions not tumor, 1cm. No lymph nodes involved. Is the same treatment? Thanks
Dr Liz thank you so much, the information you share is awesome. I am Her2+ which metastasized and started ricocheting off of my bones so my Dr who Is at MSK and is nationally know for this specific cancer decide to start chemo right away and it worked. Pet scan shows NO sign of cancer and now I’m on herceptin & projeta and she’s saying that surgery is not warranted now. It’s so hard to stop thinking of the chance of recurring. I trust my Dr and she has also told me that if I still feel the same way in a couple of months that I can visit with the surgeon. She will be doing periodic pet scans. Your thoughts?
Hello, are you in the UK? I would love to know the name of your doctor,..fantastic news! I wish you all the best x
Thank you very much for your video. I was diagnosed with Her2+ one year before. Ι had demobilizations inside my right breast, the laregest one was 0.7 mm. My oncologist said i was stage 1, but i did all the therapies you mentioned for stage 2 (chemo, radiation, herceptin-perjeta-fesgo) for 1 year. I am a little confused for that , do you think that this case would be different due to the fact i had demobilizations and not 1 normal tumor like everybody?
Hello doctor thank you so much for this informative post I am 71 and I would like to mention that I have HER2 positive I had my surgery and 5 sessions of radiotherapy and then Letrozol but I couldn’t manage so they switched to Tamoxifen and nothing of what you’re speaking about I forgot to say I had my surgery enf of March 2023
Once again thank you so much
That makes sense. Many older ladies can’t tolerate the side effects of herceptin so are just given Tamoxifen.
@@DrLizORiordan many thanks doctor for your reply I said to myself you will kindly answer me so thanks again
I’m on TC and phesgo, my initial Phesgo was given as a 15ml injection to the thigh, and since then 10ml every following injection
Ive done left mastectomy last month, now I'm waiting the result of my biopsy
I got Herceptin and perjeta infusion for a year after I finished THCP, is that the same as the injection?
I’m her2 positive. 3 tumors total. 2 of them were 2 cm and the other was .9 I had chemo plus the immunotherapy. I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction, no lymph node involvement. I’m doing well now and just trying to keep avoid reoccurrence.
I’m trying to find out what are the possible effects of the 20,000 plus units of hyaluronidase in Phesgo. I’ve looked up the reviews for hyaluronidase which has many bad reviews from patients who receive a fraction of that amount to dissolve facial fillers. I’m concerned about it and would like to know whether any of the Phesgo patients have experienced side effects from receive such a large amount monthly. And would making the tissue more permeable be bad in terms of spreading cancer as well ad the other side effects. Supposedly there are also people who are allergic to hyaluronidase. Is this a concern? I haven’t found anyone talking about this and haven’t found info on it so far. Thank you.
Dr Liz. Is her 2 positive hereditary? I mean if my mom had her 2 positive breast cancer i will have it?
I am er/pr + HER2+. Got 12 weeks of Taxol and Herceptin. Year of herceptin. 7mm tumor. But, looked like starry sky. It was every where. NOT in lymph nodes. Doing radiation. Then tamoxifen for 5 years. Lupron shots
Also did Mastectomy first, then chemo and Herceptin.
Only stage 1
Alot of DCIS some invasive
Dear Liz, what is the best way to care for my mastectomy scar? Two weeks after surgery and later. Can you recommend scar care products? Thank you for your answer and your commitment.
Just a simple moisturiser. My breast care nurses used to recommend Aveno
Why do you have to have chemotherapy first before Herceptin and Perjeta?
Thank you for this. I can attest to how good herceptin and perjeta are- I had pcr at surgery. I’m still on herceptin for 10 more rounds. What is the likelihood of recurrence if you had pcr and no node involvement ( stage 2 grade 3)?
It’s lower
I was ER and Her2 + but wasnt given chemo or herceptin because they said the tumour was tiny (4mm). Although glad not to have gone through the awful treatment I'm still in two minds about the risk of recurrence.....
HER2+ and wasn't given chemo!? Did you do a genetic test? (I'm negative) I was initially diagnosed with stage 0. After the biopsy and surgery, they found the 4mm tumor, and I'm ER, PR, and HER2 positive. The lymph node is clear. For HER2+, I'm told that the risk of recurrence is about 10%, but if it does recur, it will be very fast and aggressive. If I get treatment, there is a 98% chance of preventing recurrence. I'm in the US so UK might be different but I'm also told that there isn't a standard treatment for under 5mm because there isn't enough study. So, my oncologist and breast cancer specialist told me that I should either get standard treatments or participate in a clinical trial (Harvard Medical, Dana-Farber, and BIDMC team) for prevention. I decided to do a clinical trial, which can be randomized to either standard treatment or TDM-1. Fortunately, I'm randomized into Arm 1, which is TDM-1, aka mini-chemo (less side effects/no hair loss). After that, I will undergo Herceptin, radiation, and then take a pill. This is only my day 3 on TDM-1, but I haven't experienced any side effects so far.
Why do anti-HER2 treatment be given with chemo? Why? My friend had only Herceptin/Projetta and it melted all her stage 4 tumors bone liver breast away. It worked that good without chemo. So why chemo?
Does herceptain cause aching muscles
I cannot do kadcylis
Hi Liz, Thanks you for the videos. My mom has triple positive stage 4 breast cancer and is undergoing treatment using PHESGO alongside chemo. Recent PET scan after 4 cycles of showed that the tumor is her lungs is gone while the tumon in breast has significantly shrinked. Is it now safe to do go for surgery ? or is surgery an option ?
I can’t give personal medical advice but your mom’s team will know what to do
Hi doc Liz.You have mentioned so many medicine for Her2 positive..Here in the Philippines we only use herceptin trastuzumab..
I'm in Canada and we don't have some of these treatments either. I only received herceptin and nerlynx
I hope that you will get access to the newer drugs soon x
After a biopsy in 2020 I was diagnosed with stage IV HER2+. To make a long story short, I went through six cycles of chemo and the tumor in my breast is gone, gone from my liver, but remains in my spine. I did not have surgery. I am currently still get the PHESG0 monitored with Echocardiogram and CT scan every four months. I get a rash and constipated on the third day after the shot. I still lack physical strength. I walk everyday and garden during the summer. Getting up off the ground is a chore. Can you suggest weight baring exercise routines that would be helpful and not harmful for patients? More research studies should be done on nutrition and natural herb support for patients. We all want to participate as no one wants to do more harm than good to themselves.

How are you madam I'm from India my mother has same her2 please give me suggestions to help her better
My cancer is SNB 13mmGr2+HGDCIS(total 14mm)
Thanks for sharing this
Super helpful- thank you. I have a question please. What if you have CPR, double mastectomy (because you are young) and have had the Phesgo - should you be scanned at some point? I'm not hearing of a any scans post treatment. How would you know of recurrence? Surely a PET scan is advisable? If anyone knows anything please respond to me with info. Thanks in advance, and to all of you out there in the midst of the journey, I send you love.
My oncologist said no scans- just come in if you have symptoms. She said that there’s no real difference in outcomes from scans vs symptoms, and scans expose you to needless radiation.
We were told the same No scans unless symptomatic As Detection would not change the outcome. This is probably the only thing about cancer treatment that I just do not believe. To me even being able to have a pet scan every 2 or 3 years would make sense And hopefully provide peace of mind.
Thank you for responding I wish you a cancer-free forever!@@ireneshonle2942
Thank you so much. I wish you a cancer-free forever@@nancybee250
We don’t routinely scan people unless they have symptoms
I had grade 3 and had chemo (with CPR), surgery, rads and Phesgo. Last of 18 injections in October 2023. How long does it take to fully recover from treatment? Plus, you say Herceptin reduces the risk of recurrence so what risk is there? Also, how long does it take to fully recover from SMX + axillary node clearance on the inside i.e. on the inside plus scar area flattening out. Thank-you
I hope you don't mind me asking, but did they give you any scans post-treatment after your CPR?
@@hallilthompson8001 No scans, but I did have a blood test that checked for cancer cell markers several months after surgery, once I had completed radiotherapy.
It can take 6-12 months to recover depending on the treatment you had but everyone is different. For surgery 2-4 weeks
Hi Dr. Liz, ive been diagnosed with stage 3, her2 positive, er/pr negative, with 3 lymph nodes, im 34 years old, and frightened of recurrence, I’m receiving chemo 6 sessions then surgery and radiology, what are chances of recurrence?
Coming in... read your comment giving you hope and courage l was Stage 3 myself with ER negative and Pr negative 16 years later l am still here. They have so many new treatments and always coming out with new ones. Sending you a hug and you got this one day at a time.
