To all the cancer patients out there, feel better and remember never to give up hope. My Mom is a stage 4 cancer patient and she hasn't given up hope. She still goes out with her friends, dresses up, lives on her own and cleans up her own place. She just turned 87 in April. Don't lose hope.

I was diagnosed in my 30s with Stage 3 colon cancer 😢 I just gave birth to my daughter, and I was experiencing abdominal pain way before becoming pregnant! I remember my parents who both passed away from cancer, taking me to the surgeon's office, and right then, and there, they did an endoscopy and then a colonoscopy and it didn't come back good at all. They told my parents it was life or death and I need to be omitted overnight into the hospital 😮 so I had surgery, and here I am 29 years later, lucky to be alive. The 😇 were with me, and the doctors and nurses even stated that!❤

No one takes a young woman seriously. I can't believe that one person said your "old" age was the cause of your heartburn. When I was 33 I was literally having a heart attack in the ER and they just kept me waiting and telling me things looked "normal" just like you! I was and am also petite, no smoking, not a typical heart attack patient. I hope to hear you are doing great. Sending love.💕

    • @adudecalledjay
      @adudecalledjay 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +53

It is terrifying, but she described a bunch of symptoms beyond fatigue. Fatigue was the first symptom and it progressed through to heartburn, trouble swallowing, extreme and unexpected weightloss (huge flag there), etc. I'm assuming these symptoms developed as she progressively moved from stage 1 to 4. The medical system did fail her, though. She obviously didn't feel comfortable advocating for herself until things got really bad.

@@CrunchyMom70 go see another doctor, 1 out of 10 will believe you just have to find the right one. Now, I’ve been sick many times, those times doctors threaten me like if I was crazy. If there is something I’ve learned when dealing with doctors is one, always push for more testing! If they say I don’t see nothing wrong with you, you answer back by saying well for my peace of mind I want more exams done, and you demand them!
Another thing, if you have PPO insurance (does not need referral) take it upon yourself go find a specialist, in this case a gastroenterologist.
Third and more important. EXAGGERATE your symptoms, I know this is not honest but they will pay more attention to someone in “excruciating pain”, ” having nausea”, “vomiting”, symptoms “everyday many times a day”. This is in case you need referral from them.
Also tell them that your symptoms have been there for long and that you have tried medicine already.
I know is too much but many doctors will take care first of the insurance then the patient. Sorry that it is the reality here in US.
Try any of these if not all and you’ll see a change.
I hope they find what is wrong with you and remember that no one knows your body more then you and that no one will take care of it better then you.

I know first hand how tough the battle is but It's clear to see you're a warrior and will beat this! Also try to remain positive and cut out any negativity in your life. I will keep you in my thoughts. ♥

when someone has cancer is too expensive to have cancer,
most of them lost the battle before their time because lack

Self advocacy is something I had to learn on my cancer journey. Each person knows their own body the best. If a doctor is not listening to you, say your concerns over and over and find a doctor who will listen.

I had a baby and 2 months after I started to feel side and back pain. I saw 4 different doctors and they all just said it was musculoskeletal pain and to take anti-inflammatory meds. 7 months later im still having the pain. For the 3rd time i went back to my doc and complained about my pain. She once again said it was musculoskeletal and gave me attitude and asked what do i want. She asked me if I wanted a MRI? I said idk, i dont want to waste resources and she says it's entirely up to me in a condescending tone. I said yes lets do the MRI because i was scared. Normally we get a random pain and it goes away in it's own. This wasn't going away so i knew something was wrong. Not to mention all of the other symptoms i started to feel. Numbness in my extremities and pressure in my back as if something foreign was there. Day after the imaging she calls to tell me i have a rare spinal disorder in adults and apologized to me. Moral of the story, we know our bodies better than these doctors. They gaslight us and make us feel like we're over reacting. While they may feel like cancers and certain diseases are rare, it still happens every single day. We may be that rare case. And the longer we go untreated the worse the outcome maybe. Dont just take meds without knowing the WHY. The WHY is the most important but that's where doctors get generic and prescribe meds to just treat the symptoms. Advocate for yourself always. Be safe rather than sorry.

But all I can think of is the time wasted that could have been used more wisely. They never tell you clearly that cancer is so much more aggressive when you're young. Sure, we are healthy and young, but because our bodies have a faster metabolism than older people, cancer has a higher chance of spreading and coming back after successful treatment. And due to the excessive limitation of access to important tests, scans, and specialists, if everyone who came in with vague symptoms was tested for the worse first, the wait time for such tests would be so excruciating that those who need it would most likely not get it on time. But there’s a method to most of the madness! Assume benign (if no blazing red flags) and FOLLOW UP. They removed his stomach and made his a new stomach with pigs skin, he had a feeding tube felt okay for awhile then started getting weak again so he got tested and the cancer came back in his liver. He tried to get into clinical trials but was not accepted. He only lived 3 months after that and I remember he called me as he looked at a rainbow one early evening. He felt happy seeing the rainbow and he told me he was going to try and see every sunrise and sunset that he could. I cried but never let him know that I was crying. Alyssa, I wish you the best. You are far from alone in getting screwed by the American healthcare system, I worked in a hospital for 20 years, and I can tell you firsthand that priority #1 for doctors is their own livelihood, not yours. Of course, they will do just enough to stay out of trouble, but they cut corners whenever they can get away with it. Frankly, it's not just doctors, it's the entire healthcare system.
No one will care more about your health than yourself, that is why it is so important to learn as much about your symptoms as you can and do what you can do on your own. I'm not saying to not see a doctor, I'm saying don't take their word for what is wrong with you and what you should do. They are often wrong. And search for functional medicine doctors.

They initially gave her 6-8 months, now 5 years later I'm vegan and so is she & her cancer is in remission. Please explore veganism America. It will save your life❤. This procedure removes what is called the duodenum, a part that humans can't live long without. Don't wait until your back is against the wall to explore the healing power of fruits & vegetables. Yes to this, no to that, this now, that later, go for the trial etc. Huge, huge battle, and on top of that the hormonal disbalance, playing with your emotions all the time when you need to be most stable. Making this video and being so aware of everything and saying it all, and not going into tears, still pushing forward, it's just strength, pure strength and fighting to be there another day, but not for yourself, for family, that wish just to see more of them, remember them more, observe them, help, love, build memories.
