- Can this New Canik TP9 Elite SC compete with the big boys in the Battle of Sub Compacts? On this episode of Tacticaltuner we are going to be reviewing the New Canik TP9 Elite SC that just released on Oct 2 which happened to be shortly after Sig announced the launch of the P365 SAS and also just one week after the SA hellcat was announced. So yes I say there is a battle going on for the top market share of the SC world. So let see if this Canik has what it takes to compete with the big boys in the subcompact market.

The reason they did that on the mag is so it wont print.
I understand why they did it. I just don’t care for it. I was just saying there are other firearms for the same size and money that I would rather have. I own a Canik TP9 and love it. I just didn’t see the point in this pistol. But I am glad you like the pistol.
I've never had a problem with the mags (including purchased 17 round mags). They all insert and eject nicely. It is hefty; closer to a compact than sub-compact.
Great review, but please find a way to adjust your audio. I had it on full blast and could barely hear the talking and than went straight to blowing my eardrums out for the shooting.
They did the gap for a reason simply so it want print!
I loved the gun, but I am changing out the front site for a Warren fiber optic front sight. You either need to stay out in the sun or hold a light on the front sight for it glow. Kind of a stupid idea for a CCW.
I didn't have a problem with the 15 round mag shot it with the 15 round mag wasn't bad great trigger pull great price
I recently purchased the Canik TP9 Elite SC and had absolutely NO issues regarding the mag release grabbing the magazine... it ejected both the 12 & 15 round mags w/o any issues. Hit the release button and they ejected smoothly with no assistance whatsoever.
P.S. I agree with your assessment with it not really fitting into the “sub compact” category... compact, definitely! 👍🏻
Thinking this for my compact and a 5 shot snubnose for if I need to have a subcompact
that's good! maybe I just got a lemon. glad yours didn't have the same issue. as a hole Canik's are great pistols.
I chose the tp9 sc over the glock 19 wasn’t into the micro compact
I think you missed how this size is better CCW than the G19 but not so small like the p365, so that you have a bit more heft for those who prefer it. I'd love to see this tp9 sc go head to head with the other gun it compares to....the CZ p10 sc. Imo these two hit a sweet spot in both price and size where they shoot nearly as good as the full size, but almost as small as the micro 9s.
Other then the short grip it is the same size as a G19, add the extended my and they are the same size. I love my TP9 SFX but I just don’t see the point in this pistol. Sounds like you like your and that’s great!
@@tacticaltuner4217 I don't have one yet, but the SC is shorter in slide length AND overall length, along with shorter height. The idea is that the G19 is very close to the right size, but could be shorter like the SC in length and height....it is respecting the G19 very close, but Imo, the p10s and tp9sc hit the size better for avg size people with avg hands.
@@tacticaltuner4217 and now that I've held the 19 beside the Canik elite SC, the size difference in the grip area where most printing occurs is far greater than the specs let you realize....the back of the 19 grip stick out way farther, which amplifies the length and height advantage....
I didn't have that problem with the mag release mag pop's right out
I have this pistol. I have had zero issues when ejecting either mag. They drop out every time without fail when ejected.

Wrap painter's tape around mag. Insert mag and hit the frame with hair dryer. Possibly will fix the issue. Seen similar things with others having issues with g48 s15 mags ejecting. They did what I stated above and it resolved the issue
You probably right, that may work but you shouldn’t have to do that.

This gun is all about the Glock 26, not the 43. Think of it as a G26 MOS with rail attachment capability.
I agree, it’s just not what I consider a Sub Compact.
Better to not include the whole bottom grip in the plate is so you get pinky support without a solid imprint. Instead your shirt would glide across the mag instead of a huge chunk of handle

avigares - avigares that’s strange, we played it in a cell phone, Tabled and TV prior to publishing and it sounds perfect on all 3. I just tried all 3 again and it sounds plenty load. Are you sure your not having speaker issues?
Mine does not do that my mags pop right out not sure what’s really going on with your mag well
The indent on the extended mag prevents less printing. Personally, I've had the P365, No Thanks, The Hellcat, sold it on day 3. Junk. This is a keeper for me. I've also used it in competition, & won. Again, just my opinion.

@@tacticaltuner4217 I started trying ot out it our Steel Challenge match & shot it as a BUG in an IDPA . But I'll only do that now & then. I prefer my TP9SFX or Elite Combat for matches.
Tony M - ya I love my SFX, without a doubt the best pistol for the money. I think my CZs are really the only pistol I would say are better but they also cost 3 times as much. Thanks for watching bud!
@@tacticaltuner4217 Exactly. CZ is a great gun, but the price is steep. For the $$, the trigger, all the extras the TP9SFX is probably the best deal out there. I ended up with 2 of them. If one has an issue during a match, I use the other. It's in FDE & gorgeous. However, I've never had an issue & with 6 Caniks & 37K plus rounds. Never a problem.
My mags shoot out perfectly fine on my tp9 sc. not too sure what’s wrong with yours ?

No not a wobbly magazine but one that will come out easily after depressing the mag release.
A lot of ppl (myself included) are not big fans of single stack micro 9mm like the Hellcat and P365 bc a 1.25-1.4” width on a pistol is not uncomfortable at all and they shoot much better. The P365 is kinda tempting but I rarely wear anything that requires I carry something that small. If i did, I would probably just carry a Glock 42, PPK, etc something even smaller yet easier to shoot even if it is a .380. Again, it would be maybe a handful occurrences in an entire year.
I will try not to be a jerk, but your review was frustrating. Try not to speak for other people but I would assume most people, like myself, watch gun reviews for the ease of accuracy, feel, reliability, etc., not your opinion on firearms economics and marketing. I agree with you that someone needs to come out with something a little more unique with the same great trigger. The CZ P10S is selling like crazy. I own a PPQSC which is imo better than the P365 bc other than width which again does not bother me much at all, they are very similar in size yet PPQSC can shoot circles around a micro 9mm.

Good videos. Just found your channel but please invest in some audio equipment. It is simply bad. the first section is only coming out of left channel too. That, or whoever does your video editing is doing a fairly poor job. Particularly failing to normalize audio between the shooting and speaking sections.
Ya were are aware if the audio issues. We believe it is with our software at the time of rendering. We will get it fixed. Thanks for letting us know and thanks for watching.
@@tacticaltuner4217 The poor audio levels is certainly a software issue, more specifically someone not knowing how to make sure the volume levels are equal. The overall poor quality of the sound is the lack of using a decent mike in a square box of a room that has A LOT of echo... Spend even $10 on a lavalier mic and you will see massive improvements. =)
@@SlavGuns Right now we are using Rode's new wireless lavalier mic, it could need some adjustment. I will check it out. thanks

Taking a gun down will get you in trouble with TH-cam ?
If you look in the TH-cam policy’s it states no assembly of firearms. My last Canik video was limited due to taking apart an reassembling.

Ugly extended mag indeed. I carry my sub compacts with the extended mag and use the flush mag as back up.
First
