Future readers: do not wrap your pieces in plastic. Leave it unwrapped in a chest and lightly polish it up with paste like Wrights or Haggerty once a year. Your silverplate will last longer. AND don’t dishwasher clean it…take the time to enjoy its beauty while you wash it with a cloth not a scrubby sponge. Just because it is plated and not solid does not mean it is not special. At some point it was your grandmothers pride and joy and she served your grandfather meatloaf for a month to be able to afford it!
In 2019, I picked up a set like that in a Florida thrift store for $19.99! It’s the Wm Rogers Jubilee set, and the forks are the long Grille dinner forks that I had never seen until then. Polished up the set and use it regularly. Love it!!! 🥂🎉💕

Weighted sterling has very little actual sterling in it. Because it's mostly a fill that is wrapped with a layer of silver. The "weighted" means that solid fill that makes the object feel so heavy.
Oh yeah, it's like the cheaper silverware with the big bulky handle.
Picked up a box (the one with the drawer underneath) at a flea market. Full set for 8, including 16 teaspoons and serving pieces such as the carving set, and it was Wm. Rogers "extra plate." I think it's the Valley Rose design.
Southern rose rate pieces like individual salt spoons . No wrap in special fabric.

I’ve only just discovered you in the past 2 weeks. You’re fascinating to watch. I have a portrait of a young woman and she has quite a past in Italy. Her Father murdered her lover (boyfriend.) She eventually along with her Step mother and brother murder her Father. There was quite an uproar . There was an original painting that was on antiques roadshow, but didn’t get to see. It seems it was popular among artists to paint the same figure and many many were made. So I’d like to send it to you because I don’t know what it is exactly. Not a painting and not an early photo. Very heavy frame.

My six graders and I performed a chemical investigation to clean silver without using polishes or rubbing the metal. I want you to see the video but I don’t know how to attach it. Can someone on staff please help me?
i was hoping you'd talk about the knives i have a set with knives that have sterling handles. wondering why, if they came that way or if the blades were replaced because of wear.
Since it doesn’t look like you will get a reply, I thought I’d chime in. It sounds like you have either carbon steel or stainless steel blades. Some manufacturers did this because sterling silver, and silver plated blades do not hold much, if any, of an edge. No, they are not replacements. They were made that way. Since the handles are sterling, they are probably of a higher quality. There is a company called Replacements, that can help you with identifying the pattern, and the current value. Hope this helps.

You possibly have a low iq.
She has no interest whatsoever in her parents’ silverware. “Just tell me what it’s worth” attitude. No regard for any sentimentality or history behind this find. These are the ones who come in expecting to hear they have a set worth thousands of dollars and find out it’s basically worth nothing and you can see the disappointment written all over her face.
