    I hope this becomes the hydraulic press channel but for skiving. will it skive?

      Like Blendtech’s channel. Will it skive? That is the question. *cues music*

    I have always wondered why more expensive heat sinks feel a bit different than extruded ones. Are these heat treated after skeving as well or only annealed before?

    • @skiving2020
      @skiving2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Skiving is required after annealing. Skiving works well when the material is controlled by adjusting the annealing treatment to the hardness level.

      @@skiving2020 Its neat that skiving doesn't cause work hardening, do you think it is possible to do skiving on red hot steel?

      I doubt copper can be heat treated - why? because it is a single phase material - no alloying element. Copper can be work hardened, yes. I never heard of a possibility to heat treat copper.

      @@lyndonthan4350 it doesn't work like with iron/steel but copper does change with heating and that has to do mostly with the rearranging of the atoms and that is why copper is so soft after it is heattreated. it get's rid of stress points and unaligned atom rows within the metal structure. and depending on how hot you make it it can also get rid of impurities that stiffen the metal

    Copper is a challenge to machine, very well done. We do the same with brass tubes and thin bars that we have to bend without break or deform 👌
