  • In order to make a video, we tried to catch a bending through several attempts.
    Once you have mastered it, you will be able to bend it even with one attempt.

    mesmerizing :P Is the goal of rubbing the yellow thing to sharpen the blade?

    • @skiving2020
      @skiving2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      The yellow stick is an abrasive stick.
      The key is to dull rather than sharpen. This helps the knife to enter the proper thickness when it enters the material, so that it mounts well on the knife.

      @@skiving2020 i guess its just to remove the burr that forms at the tip, no? Also isnt the heatsink fragile at the point where you bend it?

    • @skiving2020
      @skiving2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@D3nn1s A knife ground with a whetstone is very sharp. It is not intended for deburring. Rather, you can think of it as making a burr. The bends are pretty solid too.

      @@skiving2020 sorry wasnt very clear what i meant. The "dull" blade has its tip sometimes curled up. I mean with the whetstone you remove that curled up part making it sharp again

    So when the blade is sharp the fins curl, when it is dull they stay straight?

    • @skiving2020
      @skiving2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The grinded knife with a grinding stone is very sharp. This should be made a bit dull as the knife will not cut through the material and will climb onto the material during processing. Just like a toothed blade makes it easier to cut bread...

      @@skiving2020 That is very interesting, thank you for replying! An odd comparison might be when trying to cut cheese with a flat blade you always end up with the blade wandering and getting a slice of cheese that gets thinner rather than a uniform thickness?

    • @skiving2020
      @skiving2020  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@crisrose9707 Exactly~!
      In addition, uniformity of thickness is important when entering the initial blade. If the blade enters thinly when entering the blade, it gradually becomes thicker, resulting in a shape in which the head of the thin fin bends backwards.
