I was taken aback in a GOOD way when I saw in the store yesterday. On my OG x I'd played Ultimate - alas can't remember playing pt 1, supposed to have been on the disc. My doa 4 works sweet.
In the old days, toning down jiggle physics was verboten.
Great game and the Saturn did a great job converting it. However I am very puzzled why they (Tecmo) didn't port the Model 2 arcade version as that was the best version of the game, with its much higher polygon count and 3d backgrounds. Sega gave us the arcade Virtua Fighter 2 and it's one of my favourite games of all time. That said, I'm NOT saying it's a bad version* by any means. In fact, it's incredible. However is it the BEST version? The objective answer, based on the evidence, is no. But it is very close though.
They should have ported the Japanese only Dead or Alive ++. It's pretty much the gameplay of Dead or Alive 2, with the slightly better graphics than the original arcade release and the extras included in the PlayStation version.
Considering Dead or Alive Ultimate 2 is a remake in the engine of Dead or Alive 3, it wouldn't be that crazy to include it....or they could have just included multiple versions.
@@Chelaxim Good point mate. I barely know anything about this Japanese "Dead or Alive ++" version. If it is the same as (or better than) the Model2 arcade version of DoA1, like you claim, then all I can say is "Yes... please do sign me up!" 😃
DOA creator Tomonobu Itagaki claimed the Saturn version wass his preferred version over the arcade as he felt he had made the right tweaks to the gameplay, hence why it was ported over the arcade original.
as a ps1 fan i really envy the saturn because of this version of doa :)
I actually prefer the PS1 version even though I have DOA1 Ultimate. Both have their pros and cons.
The Ps version have better graphics and better soundtrack

Takes up so much space for a Saturn port though. It was 5GB to install when I did it 🤷♂️
I know on the OG Xbox the disc with 1 on it actually has part 2 ultimate on it as well, likely the reason the DL is so big lol

I have this CD and I can play it on my Xbox 360 (without improvements), can I use the same cd on a Xbox series X or do I have to buy the digital version of the game to make it work?

I enjoyed the PlayStation version of Doa1, that said every other version I prefer Xbox. Altho JP Dreamcast DOA2 was best before DOA2 Ultimate.

idk what's called but its a nasty mid blow that is even crazier if it connects as a counter hit, very risky blow though
@@shadowcatboy7852 even at the current damage level, I'd be flipping tables if I saw that. I remember playing the ps1 version and never came across damage at this level.
