Hello again I had an another question.
Not sure how to ask it.
But I finally hooked up my printer to my laptop. And printed from the laptop for the first time and was looking at the camera and noticed a lot of shavings and thought I might have added to much glue. So I went to check and the printer was trying to kill its self lol. But really it was carving into the build plate in the areas it was supposed to lay the plastic. I printed something I already printed and came out fairly similar. Then tried the file I sent and printed okay. So I’m not sure what caused it to do that. I’m concerned that I messed up something but not sure how to test it. It took a big gouge out of the build plate so it definitely went through some torture any thoughts?

Hmmmmmm... I have never tried to print anything from a computer. As in the way you described it via USB? I am using Orca as my main slicer and everything works as it should. Had the PEI sheet been put back correctly onto the bed? How is the Z offset looking like? Have you tried re-calibrating everything? If this is a mechanical issue with the printer (as in something is not aligned as it should be from the factory) than probably you are better off contacting the manufacturer. But since you did say that you had a good print before I would check if it is not a you problem. Also, I would either print via wifi or with a USB stick. Apart from that I am not really able to provide any more insight. Maybe someone else has had this issue on some forums?? I would look if I were you.
I googled this: qidi plus4 digs into build plate on print
And got some reddit posts. Maybe worth checking that out.

Hello if u don’t mind can u do me a favor and messure the depth from foot to foot I want to by a tool chest to use as a table for it and the one I’m looking at is only 18 inches. I know the site says it’s 19 and change. So was hoping the feet are a little bit shorter. Thank you

      Hello,
I am in a great mood today and I did what you have asked. The distance between the feet is just about 16in (16.5 to be safe). I obviously would not take my word for it if this hinges on your decision to buy this printer so I have made an unlisted video. I will remove it in about a week.

At this rate it will run away on its own 🤣 still not used to the speed it just casually operates at.

Might want to get a 60x60x4cm concrete plate from your local hw store for 4 euros and put the printer on it. Thats exactly what i did with my plus4 and it helps a lot (less with quality, more with stop rocking my f*n desk like crazy)

I am already thinking about something solid so that the entire house does not shake itself out from existence. The crazy part is that despite all of this extra movement the print was really good quality. Thanks for the slab tip, will see what I can get from the local DIY store.

This printer looks to be a Bambulab X1 clone, I wonder if it is because it share alot of similary in design... you would be impressed by the X1-Carbon model which I own

I am not bothered who cloned who... To me this is like having a Corsa all your life and one day getting a supercar. I always had a slow bed slinger (wanhao duplicator i3, mingda magician) so this Qidi is above and beyond my expectations. Chuffed to own it. I am also sure that the X1C would also impress the living hell out of me.

There are quite a few differences compared to the X1C. They managed to cram in a lot of technical features like a chamber heater for very little money. In fact, I'm pretty sure you could argue that on paper it can do more than the X1C, in regards to high-end engineering filaments. BBL Products feel more premium though. I personally found a sweet spot printing PC with the plus4 because it is still quite cheap and much more resistant to temperature and also physical stress than PLA/PETG.

@@MarkusRambossek oh yes im sure it has more features and is cheaper considering is X1C was just a carbon upgrade to the X1 model which was released in 2022. heated chamber would have been nice, but I have a tweak, I just configured mine to have fans run at higher temps so the chamber stays warm after it pre-heated. Does the plus4 support PETG-CF ? I love the finish of that fillament on my prototype parts.

@@sylvainmartens7852 supposedly yes, though I have yet to try it. Next on my list (to try), after realizing how awful ASA smells and fumes when printing, is PAHT-CF (PPA-CF) and PPS-CF which are both rather expensive.. And require a (hardened) tungsten carbide nozzle, of which the 0.4mm variant will only be available in EU in January :(

Bambu lab fan boy logic, everyone copied us....
conveniently forgetting who they copied in first place!!!
