Drilled carbon steerer tube plus headset spacers as long as the headtube and a short compression plug are a recipe for disaster.

You're voiding the warranty. you can't just drill a hole in the steerer tube.

Not really, only if damage is directly resulted from steer tube. No modification was done on frame so warranty still valid. Specialized has to prove any faulty is direct/indirect result from hole in steer tube.
