    Since dogs cannot speak word by word unlike humans, it is really important to understand their body language and signals that they're trying to communicate with you. Helpful video! Thank you for uploading this!

    Has anyone noticed how the music changes in this. Very clever how it moves from calm fingerpicking guitar to full-on metal!!

    I think some info can be wrong as some just depends on you and your dog. And also how well you both know each other and communicate because my dog will clap her teeth when exited and yawn and wag her tail when I speak happy to her and before she gets exitable etc. I think when you know your dog like you know your child these vids become invalid so speak.

    Another symptom of tension and stress: excessive shedding. Some owners wonder why their pet suddenly drops hair in the room. I let the owner know this is temporary and stress behavior during the visit,
    I have had dogs and cats "aggressively mouth" my hand, arm, etc. as a warning. And, I back off, because the next contact could be a full blown bite. Introduce the muzzle and then continue the examination. Or just let the animal calm down and proceed. Sometimes less is more. Of course, the situation is different as I am a vet tech vs a trainer coming to the house or any other scenario.

    • @miss415x
      @miss415x 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely correct about the excessive shedding! My vet told me that. I was noticing my dog, a Lab mix, dropping huge piles of hair when at my mother's home during the week- she watched him while i was working during the day. I would brush him in the evenings and the amount of hair was unbelievable. If I would brush him on the weekends almost no hair! Eventually we realized my mom's dog was showing resource guarding behaviors - she was tired of sharing my mom! She was giving out subtle warnings but we did not notice them at the time, until she finally bit my dog. After that, I stopped bring my dog over to my mom's and the excessive shedding ceased.

    Wait, I’m confused? So I have a 9 year old lab, and he’s the most energetic and social dog you’ll ever meet. But when I get home from work he will be giving me the whale eye and barking. He does this thing where he smiles (it looks like a snarl) and his eyes are all squinty, but he’s sneezing and jumping all over the place beside me and on to me and licking me all over. His ears are often back and he’ll be rubbing up against me and often bring up his favorite ball to play with. But according to this he is anxious and angry? Max, my lab, does have separation anxiety, but he is my emotional support dog and we’ve been together for almost 5 years, but due to how much I’ve been working recently, he’s been getting really anxious at home. Due to how often I’m gone, I’ll usually dedicate approx 20 min just to play and cuddle with him when I get home around 11ish, then I’ll get on with my laundry and chores. But even then, I’ll still throw a ball, or give him a give belly rub almost every time I pass him laying down (typically in way, as that’s his favorite place to lay, lol). My step dad is there with him, and max gets along with everyone, but he and I are definitely way closer than he is with anyone else. We always go for runs together, he sleeps in my bed (and if I’m in the living room, I lay on the floor instead of the couch so we can cuddle), he’ll follow me wherever I go in the house, and when I get upset or cry, he will put his head in my lap and bring me his favorite toy as an offering.
    But from what this is telling me, he gets angry? Can someone possibly clarify for me?

      Shistar Is Tiggerd. Read your comment, twice and I'm 😕. Almost all dog body language is fluid. You have to look at your whole situation and then interpret from there. It seems like you didn't have a problem(tell me if I'm wrong) then you watched this video and She says your dog is....... Correct??? Rule one, if you don't have a problem with your dog doing x/y then there is No Problem. Now someone else may see/have that same senerio and think how can they live one more day like this; but if it doesn't bother you/family then it's okay. Seems like you and Max are great buddies. 🐶 If you really feel like you have a problem let me know, maybe I can help. Good Luck! 😀

    My dog usually is uneasy, and giving her affection makes it worse. What do I do?

    • @AlyssaAdamoli
      @AlyssaAdamoli 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pain can make a dog snarky. If she thinks you're going to pet her in a sensitive area, she'll try to back you off. Q: Did you guys move houses? Or still live in the same house? If you've only been home occasionally, you may not be as bonded as you think. Dogs can go through fear periods as they grow up and if not socialized through them, they can develop fear issues around people they're not around a lot. He could also be guarding something. Describe some situations in which she in uneasy, does she growl?

    • @banggugyangu
      @banggugyangu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically, a dog that's uneasy or stressed needs structure. Work on structured walking with the dog. This means a walk where the dog isn't distracted by everything around them, isn't sniffing, and isn't concerned with potty breaks. Walks where the dog focuses on you and walking. That in itself is the most basic building block of healthy dog mentality.

      K Dudley It is unfortunate that your dog doesn't have a Pack Leader! This reply comes from one who still trains dogs and formerly Showed them as well. It is my strong recommendation that you look up Cesar Milan, You Tube, books he has written...quick results, better way with and for your dog and you upon proper application. Blessings in your endeavor!

    DogSense Online - Dog Trainer - Minnetonka bad video. Nurturing frightened behavior reinforces frightened behavior which will manifest negatively in your dog confidence later on. Nurturing unwanted behavior is what gets you bitten.

      Furthermore, none of the examples listed are indicative of uneasiness. A yawn is simply a change in their mental focus and that could go either way from high to low focus and vis versa. A sneeze or scratch is also not indicative of anything other than discomfort.

    So much wrong information in this video. When a dog is fearful or sad, do not pet or give him affection as giving affection reinforces that state. Also when they tell you to "Back off" you should not back off. The dog will become dominant and un-balanced.

      +DogSense Online - St Paul I have done many many many hours of studying. No part of the pack leadership role involves fooling, pain or intimidation. The purpose is to be natural just like it is in the wild. Pack leadership is all about respect. THERE IS NO HARMING. You need to also do research because if you did on the proper and natural method you would see they specifically say you are not trying to harm intimidate or cause any form of pain. It's all about being balanced and giving the dog a healthy lifestyle like it is if they were in the wild. We as humans must take care of these dogs the proper way since we are taking them out of their world and putting them in ours. I must reaffirm that there is no hitting of the dogs. I do not believe in spanking. But I believe your child needs to have respect of you as their parent.

    • @dylanwhisnant6772
      @dylanwhisnant6772 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +DogSense Online - St Paul I personally have never seen a red zone dog that an be fixed any other way than with proper pack leadership. I believe it is true. Many believe in it and it makes sense. Look at how well Cesar Millans methods work alone. I find it hard to refute it. I have seen it work first hand and there have been much research done on it. But this is one thing I think we will not be able to agree on as we both believe 100% in our methods. It's similar to beliefs on global warming, evolution vs religion, democratic vs republican, there's research that prove both and that disprove both. I believe there is a lot of misinformation about pack leadership but I'm sure none will change your mind and none will change my mind.

    • @saffronbroderick2934
      @saffronbroderick2934 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dylan Whisnant you are correct alot of people humanise their dogs, not knowing that this is incorrect as the dog will not understand what they are trying to say. I'm glad there is other people who understand the true meaning of the pack and that they are in it too. Petting or sharing affectionate energy with your dog when they are stressed or frightened will only intensify the behaviour as it encourages them. The best you can do for an uneasy dog is massage them and share calm energy. Sorry, but some of this video is not true whilst some of it is.
