    It's so weird that Homeworld uses numbers to denote the non-canon spinoffs, and uses subtitles for the actual prequels/sequels in the series.

    You gotta love how the game opens with Imogen going "I invented these new hyperspace cores to free us from outdated mysticism" and then the plot hinges on the mother of all Hail Mary passes, where Karan bets basically all life in the universe on "that five year old I knew once growing up to be a mothership-pilot, being selected as the captain to go after me, AND still remembers the that F***ING LULLABY I used to sing to her"; she might as well have said "Sajuuk's divine providence will see us through."
    I don't know, but this story feels like a product of that anti-Chosen One Trope-trend that seemed to be a thing since at least Last Jedi came out. Then again, I could be totally wrong; the game had at least 14 credited writers, so who knows what was going into this story.

      Dialing it back to the first thing you said, Imogen just magicking up hyperspace cores out of nothing completely undermines the entire setting of this universe. Just her inventing those in the prologue was enough to turn me on this game. I never even finished the campaign, and I was looking forward to this game for ages.

    So something that sucks even harder, is that this story sets you all the way back to the start of Homeworld 1. Your people are stranded far away from their Homeworld, they need to make it there through unfamiliar territory, and the massive network of gates that provided you with FTL at the end of Homeworld 2 are gone so it's going to be a long process full of trials and tribulations...
    Isn't it great when sequels just undo what the previous entries did?

      Too many series do this. A clear sign they've run out of ideas so they rehash the same one again, but worse q.q

    • @riesstiu2khunning
      @riesstiu2khunning 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      At the end, they forget only the Progenitor Cores were lost. Khar Kushan should still have its synthetic ones intact. And if for some reason they were damaged as well, they have Imogen Sue'jet with them. She did design the synthetic cores in the first place, and there's plenty of Progenitor derelicts around, to dismantle for resources. What's the problem at the end again?

    • @lich109
      @lich109 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@riesstiu2khunning You completely misread what I said. I stated they didn't have the GATES that Homeworld 2 gave you, and that's why you're stranded. It's not impossible to get back, it would just require you to find your way, in the exact same manner as Homeworld 1. That's why I brought that up.

    • @riesstiu2khunning
      @riesstiu2khunning 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@lich109 I was addressing the apparent confusion of the writers. In the ending, we aren't told they must now return using Long Jumps (stretching a Gate-passing instant to no more than a couple of months). We're told the Cores are gone, and they're all stranded for good.
      Yes, Imogen Sue'jet should be able to recreate the Cores, and that'll allow them to return. It's going to be a voyage through intergalactic void, though. Nothing fancy like HW1, until they reach the Outer Rim. Yet the game still doesn't state this option -- instead, the fleet is clearly shown to have none. They've ended it on a non-issue, by apparently forgetting what they've set up.
      Edit: On a side note, you don't need Progenitor Gates for FTL travel. Hyperspace Cores provide that on their own, and the story they wrote has shown Hiigarans can already produce those on their own. Still, they made only 3, put them in a single basket, and launched it into the unknown threat space, along with the only person capable of producing more. The story is dog-shit crazy.

    • @lich109
      @lich109 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@riesstiu2khunning I think you're talking past me with most of your point, so I'll just address the portions relevant to what I've said. I never said that they couldn't use FTL, just that the gateways people were using for their FTL were gone. Furthermore it's not a non-issue to be stranded like that, because the journey home isn't going to be a one-and-done jump, since the gateways are gone. The writers made it clear the gates would be gone during/after the final confrontation with the Queen, since that's how you deal with her, by closing them (which somehow takes her out). They've made it clear you can't just retrace your steps to get back, meaning the space between there and the Homeworld can have any number of obstacles/factions in the way. Just because you don't know that area of space doesn't mean it's uninhabited, and I'm assuming they were originally planning to do extra story content in terms of DLC's to make it back.
      I do not recall Imogen being the only person capable of producing more cores. She is the one who invented them, but as far as I'm aware she wouldn't be necessary to create more, it's not like she keeps the blueprint exclusively in her own head, and I'm going to assume Hiigara has the capability to keep creating more based on her designs.

    The villain is just the worse thing ever. "I am insecure and lonely so i try to commit genocide, please feel bad for me". And the good guys are also led by an insecure Mary Sue. Also fun tidbit, a part of why the writing team is so big is because it was changed and the original story scrapped in favor of this. And considering the writing team that took the reins is apparently the guys behind Borderlands 3's story (which is ALSO a dumpster fire introducing people to the most insufferable brat ever put on screen and having the plot bend over backwards to coddle that character) and that the late arrival meant they had to rush to make the new story, its no wonder it ended the way it did (and its also probably why the game was delayed). Basically, Gearbox decided to meddle in here when they should have stayed the hell away.
    Also feel like its not gonna take "a few years" for wargames to become a solo experience... its already becoming that what with gearbox having already dropped support for the game, less than a year after release and with a last middle fingers to the franchise by cramming the taiidan (with a MUCH reduced ship roster) and the Somtaaw (with a SINGLE ship from their original game that isnt even able to do what it did in a 24 years old game and otherwise just being the base game faction with a few tweaks and a new frigate that never existed in cataclysm and just uses the normal hiigaran frigate design) into wargames and wargames only.

    So I agree with Mandalore on literally everything else, but the "mothership is right out in the open" was actually well explained. The Incarnate were swarming over the planetary body looking for Karen's mothership, and the while the Khar Kushan had the exact location of Karen's mothership, they couldn't hyperspace directly to it cause hyperspace interdictors and weren't able to fight their way through the massive Incarnate fleets. Gunning straight for it full throttle wouldn't work either, cause the Incarnate would see their trajectory and would end up reaching Karen first because they were all over the place already.

    • @riesstiu2khunning
      @riesstiu2khunning 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Dude, just no.
      First of all, it's Karan. KARAN. I suppose 'muricans can mispronounce it, since they often hear a similar name, but there are subtitles in the game to assist with spotting this letter variation. Same with the voice actors, who can't read it properly either. Hopefully, they weren't paid too much for this butchery. And they better not retcon the character into Karen, to accommodate such text-skimming audience.
      Back to main topic. Your elaborate excuse for this foolish scene is a stretch to say the least. Khar Sajuuk's location was acquired from at least a Long Jump distance. There's no chance Khar Kushan had precise position of the shut-down ship before it exited hyperspace near the ice shelf.
      The Veil fleet was not present near the shelf from the start. They followed Khar Kushan's hyperspace signature. If they were already there, the Trinity would've already fallen into S-B-M-H's hands.
      No chance the experienced Karan S'jet would try to hide the Cores by smashing her ship into the shelf's surface, when Khar Sajuuk could've maneuvered the same way Khar Kushan did, into the shelf's bowels. It's an amalgam of metals, sticking out from ice. Any carrier dispatching 4 probes from a distance could scan it down.
      I bet at one time in the story, the ship was actually hidden, but some genius came over and said they wanted a beautiful scene, showing it breaking out of the ice. Not enough people with common sense standing up to their superiors lacking it.

Like imagine having different kinds of that look that take inspiration from certain eras, like say Pre-Dreadnought/Belle Èpoque style for example. Perhaps with a bit more setup they could have done more with it. As it stands a lot of the things that happen at the end all come out of nowhere and characters that should have been punished all pretty much escape with no consequences. Given the situation, they basically gave the best possible ending for everyone. So with how the previous episodes had had some real consequences to members of the main cast, it felt shallow and disappointing. Of course, that's just my point of view on it. Maybe I simply had too high of an expectation based off how good the 2nd cour was.

    10:05 A good, distinctive silhouette is essential for telling what something is at a glance without having to waste much time identifying something. For a ship this is very important because if you're unfamiliar with a ship-class or you somehow misID a Destroyer as some type of Cruiser you end up in a situation where you are the Japanese at Samar thinking the force of Destoryers and Escort Carriers being used as glorified transports are a force of Cruisers and Fleet Carriers...

    I have no clue how Homeworld 3 was marketed nor how their trailers looks like but I bet Homeworld fans got shafted worse then us Dragon Age fans. We had to wait a decade while HW waited 2 decades.
    Plus nearly everything about Veilguard was red flags as fast as it was announced. From all the turmoil during development to the shitty trailers and concept art, and Biowares deterioration as a studio, the writing was already on the wall. To me at least, I was already at terms with Veilguard being trash years before its release.
    So I don't know if there was just far fewer red flags for Homeworld 3's marketing and maybe even some highlights which gave hope before that hope got crushed by actual game. I just know if I had to wait 20+ years for a DA sequel and not getting any honest looks at the game before release, then I would be actually angry at its state rather than apathetic.

    sorry this is really out of place but i have no idea where else to ask this do you have any specific place where you take reaction suggestions? or is it just whatever looks interesting in your comments?
    this is the wrong video to say this but i've been watching (and thoroughly enjoying) the kirby reactions and wanted to suggest a next step in a way that isn't "vtuber!!! watch this thing!!!!!! NOW !!!!!"

      I do have a place for that in the member's Discord, but I read through all the comments as well to see if anything interests me. Of course, I consider the ones who are at least polite and provide extra details when making a suggestion more than those that demand something. Thank you for asking!

      @@TheLegitWeebs thanks for the response!
      in that case, i was hoping you'd potentially check out either Juno Songs's *"Magolor Collection EX - Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe WITH LYRICS"* or Man On The Internet's *"Kirby Musical Bytes"* !!
      Whether you're aware of it or not, there's a circle of content creators on youtube who take video game soundtracks to write and perform them as if they were songs with lyrics. I'm personally a big fan of the genre but there's a surprising lack of react content for them out there. MOTI (a group of people) and Juno (a member of MOTI who also works solo often) are both titans of the VGM With Lyrics community.
      Man On The Internet's *"Kirby Musical Bytes"* is an unsorted disconnected compilation of various Final Boss themes throughout the series, as well as two extra songs that are more for fun than anything else. I'd suggest checking out this one if you're looking to hear more of the characters you're familiar with from the lore videos, as well as MOTI's interpretation of how they sound, since kirby doesn't really have VAs. (of note is that they sneak in some really old covers in the middle of it, so you may notice a slight drop in quality randomly)
      Juno Songs's *"Magolor Collection EX - Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe WITH LYRICS"* (not to be confused with his "Magolor Collection DX", which is older and outdated) is a very linear and thorough retelling of Magolor's full story arc from start to finish as seen in his game. I'd suggest checking out this one if you want to get to know Magolor better, since i noticed the lore videos sorta skim past Magolor's own story to spend time on what he says offhandedly instead.
      overall, both a great way to introduce yourself to a new content format while diving deeper into kirby lore !!
      either way, hope you consider !! thanks for at least reading and sorry again for intruding on the unrelated video !!

    1:06:08 eh at the least veilguard is fun gameplay wise and does get its shit together plot wise by the end.
    its way less of a disaster trainwreck than this, just a fancier, glitter-yer one

      Glad that it at least has something redeeming about it unlike HW3

    What is Blam?

      Blame! is an incredible dark sci-fi manga written by Tsutomu Nihei. One of my favorite manga of all time, and I'd highly recommend checking it out.

    17:16 its cuz the dudebros with no imagination or actual desire to play games like this might not be able to relate if they dont have a human face to look at or a sexy woman to lust after while playing

      And it still fails at both these things, like every redditoid sjw thing.

      @FriendlyArchpriest i have no idea how you took redditoid sjw from my comment...

      @@Maioly although I do agree with the complete lack of people part, especially if the people are... unsightly... I'd rather have nothing than have something worse than the minimally acceptable.
      Still, the descriptor I used is accurate, it's a "drama" goody two shoes game, not a based game like the previous ones, it lacks that grit and that edge, it's too sanitized.

      I like sexy women. I did not see a single one in the entire game unfortunately 😔. Would've been cool if we had some sick ship designs though, but we don't really even have that.
