Hi Paul! Good infos as usual! Just a couple of point. We usually change the trebles for single hook if we targeting trout. But the more important is to wet your hand before handeling the trout. If you make a demage on the slime on his body with a dry hand, they can catch easily any infection. That slime is the strongest part of there immune system. All the best, and tight lines!

thanks buddy. I have considered the single lures, i know a few uk lads are now doing it. I might give it a go next year.

I can completely agree :) Its very important to catch trout with wet hands. Single hook lures are also great and they do less harm. They are not expensive, so try it this year. Sometimes when fish is not really active single hooks are great choice bcs you can hook the fish much easier. I also realized that trout goes insane if you use Twitch lures. I can see you use Yogi and Mc ( Serbian Lures). I think you really need to buy Dragon twitch ( INSANE trout lure) www.riboshop.com/images/products/1466/1466.jpg. CHEERS!

Looks a cracking stretch that does. Near coventry it's hard to find decent areas

I have a mini lure box just like that. There all great choices. Like the comment below says I still have a Devon minnow and it still works lol.

you lads need to have a go at fly fishing, iv become hooked on it recently and you can catch all the small ones that you miss on lures.
especially if you also enjoy trotting nymphing is epic.

BUSHCRAPPING I’m thinking of trying a fly on a UL rod. Probably a horrible idea but there’s no reason it can’t work if can weight the line right

Quick question mate, when you get a bite are you meant to strike hard, I ask because I am hooking fish but they always come off, I must be doing something wrong, cheers.

Is this with small lures or larger lures or all of them? Are you seeing the fish fall off or are you feeling the fish, striking then not hooking? Let me know then i'll say what i think is wrong.

@@riverpiker hi, thanks for your reply. It's with all my lures really, I feel the bite as I am retrieving the lure, the fish is on and I play it for a bit and the fish comes off. I am keeping a tight line and I'm not sure what's happening. I wandered if I am meant to strike or not, and also sometimes I will feel the hit and then nothing. Thanks again for replying I really appreciate it.

Sorry for the late reply. So yes, you are meant to strike. When you fish with maggot on a tiny hook, you can lift in to a fish, or carp fishing you can also. With lure fishing we need to strike. Often the hooks are a little bigger so need some help to stick. Also the other thing to think about is the fish will grab hold of the lure in their mouth so you need enough force to actually mouth the lure and set the hook. This is even more the case with pike and bigger lures, you really need to dislodge that lure to get the hooks to stick. Give this video a watch also it explains some stuff.
