The Mets defense is the reason the series only went 5. Murphy booting multiple balls. And in game 5 Duda not making that throw to the Catcher. Also the shitty managing . Like why send Harvey out in the 9th when you got Familia In the pen who is red hot.

Look at all the Mets fans trying to rewrite history here.
The story was the same all series. Mets starters do great, Mets bats get a couple runs against the Royals starter, go quiet against the Royals bullpen, while the Royals eventually drive the starter out and the Mets bullpen is too weak to hold. In the field the Royals are better at every position and drive the Mets infield crazy with base running and induce errors with their sheer volume of contact.
Commenters here are acting like this repeating story was an accident. It was no secret that guys like Duda, Murphy, and Wright were below average fielders, while the Royals infield had been error-free for months (by that standard, it was the METS who caught the lucky break of a big Hosmer error in Game 1!) It was no secret that Familia was the only reliable Mets relief pitcher, while the Royals bullpen was so deep that losing their closer Holland didn't affect them at all. It was no secret that the entire Mets strategy was predicated on their starters dominating enough to cover the mediocrity of all the other aspects of their team. And while that worked well enough against the power-based teams they beat earlier in the postseason, it was no secret that the Royals had the ability to force them out of their pitch count comfort zones.
If the 2015 series HADN'T played out the way it did, it would've been one of the greatest heists in MLB history. As it is, the power of the Royals bullpen from that era has provided the blueprint for basically all subsequent contenders, while the strategy of building teams around a starting rotation as the Mets had more or less ended then.

Royals had a better lineup 1-9 defensively and offensively but not more powerful. Mets far and away had better starters, but definitely not the pen. Three of the games were lost late by the Mets due to lack of bullpen and defense, and two were blowouts by either team.

Cespedes and Harvey are at fault for game 1 too. Harvey threw a fast right down the middle of the plate for the first pitch when he knew that Escobar had been swinging at every first pitch in the postseason. The fact that Escobar ran around the bases was on Cespedes because even though Escobar hit it well, that play was 100% catchable (especially from the gold glove winner that year) albeit left field. Cespedes literally try to back hand that ball when he could have caught it normally if he was paying attention
