my name is chynne. i was born in newfoundland canada, but once a long time ago one day i heard my father say, one of your great grandfathers came from scotland. his name was robertson. that's all i know. good luck folks.
Robertson is my maiden name and my daughter and I have learned so much about our name sake recently. Going back very far was impossible until ancestry.com and the Robertson's in my family weren't talking, but we found the records and we found out who we are. Like within the last couple of months. Spent my whole life not knowing where we came from and it's just nice to have that mystery solved. I found out Sir Alexander Robertson married Elizabeth Stewart and SHE was the great granddaughter of Prince Henry Sinclair. And that Sir Alexander's grandson married Christopher Columbus' granddaughter down the line. All of this in my family tree of course, so Christopher and Sir Alexander and Prince Henry Sinclair are all my grandpa's. Talk about an exciting revelation. My daughter wants to travel the world one day and when that day comes? We're coming through Scotland. Love to the family!
I'm a Duncan, third generation in the U.S. I wasn't aware of the Donnechaidh Society until a few years ago. I'm proud to be a member. Thanks for the video.
My last name is Duncan (Texas) and I can trace my fathers paternal line to a man born in Ireland in the 1700s. However, my DNA test says I'm mostly Scottish and mostly from my fathers side. I may or may not find more information on my ancestors, but I know that many Scottish people were sent to settle in Ulster in the 1600s.. although I don't know if "settle" is the best noun to describe what happened. I enjoy learning about the history of Clan Donnachaidh and Scotland
I’m the wife of a Robertson who hails from Ayr and immigrated to Canada a little over ten years ago. I just gave birth to another Robertson last month, Hector Alexander. ❤
My name is Donna Andrews Duncan. Married into the Duncan's my youngest son Harrison Duncan is vary proud of his ancestors and would like to join. He has done a lot of research and is proud to be Scottish Irish-American.
Thanks for the video. I watched the ending amd seeing where Scottish decendants have been scattered 5 centuries with music I got a little choked up. I'm a decendant of Alexander Robertson 9th of Struan and his wife Elizabeth Stewart granddaughter of Joan Beaufort.
Lovely to see this I am Robertson Clan through my mother who is a Reid have had a great time looking through the family ancestry thanks for this video 😊
I'm trying to trace my maternal grandmother's Duncan genealogy. I've gotten back as far as the mid 1300s, then hit a roadblock. Many of them were around Fife. Any suggestions? Thanks!
My paternal grandmother was Elsie Robertson, b. 1888 in the USA, daughter of James Robertson, born in Ireland. I presume he was born in Ulster. He married in Glasgow before coming to the States.
On my dad's maternal side, I am of the Robertson clan but on my dad's paternal side, I am of the Owen clan. Therefore, I bare the name Owen. Would I still be able to join? If so, how would I go about doing so?
I trace my robertson dna threw my grandfather william robertson, his grand father or great grand father was recorded as being born in ontario in the late 1830's, family history says his parent came over because of the clearances, so my last name may not be robertson, but i consider myself a clan member.
My Grand father was Edward \Ned Robertson came from Peebles Scotland to Canada met & married my Grand mother Barbara R Greenshields had my Uncles and Aunts and then my Father Robbie
My Mother, Brother & Sister-inlaw came to Scotland in 2017 for the Gathering and met many Robertson's I believe it was Gilberts 90th Birth Day celebration and got to meet him
Ruckus Dean not all. My family still has the T and so do Robertson's in Louisiana. It might be a southern thing. I know the first two Robertson's headed south on the east coast and mostly settled in Texas though many later moved farther west.
I wasn't say "all" just my Roberson heritage .. My ancestors came while still using the RoberTson version and then SOMEWHERE we dropped the T' ..I believe my first ROBERSTON ancestor landed in either S. Carolina or N. Carolina first then migrated to Georgia and then to Tennessee in the Appalachia Mountains along the Kentucky Tennessee border ..finally ending up in southern Illinois ... some scattered west too ...
Ruckus Dean that's very strange. I believe the first Robertson's in America were two brothers and that is the route they took and one of which I am related to. I guess, like you said, someone dropped the T later on
My great grandfather Arkilles Washington Roberson was married to Dellia Layman (she was from Peach Orchard, Arkansas) ...now what's odd is the rest of Arkilles brothers & sisters spelled the last name with and without the 'T' .. Some other relatives we've found on my Dad's side earlier on did the same thing ... strange huh?
Ruckus Dean Definetley. Wish you could get your hands on a birth certificate for one of them to see if perhaps it was a spelling mistake. I know many times I've gone to places and they mistake Robertson for Robinson.
I am a Reid born Edinburgh 1947. I now live in Melbourne Australia. My Grandfather George Reid won he Military Medal in WW1. My mothers name was Scott
I'm a Roberts and recently joined I'm looking forward to learning more about my heritage.

Alex - my name is Kevin Robbie. I don’t know how the name changed. My paternal grandfather was from a small town called Monifieth, near Dundee.

Crooked pinky fingers
Is what this means☝🏻
Me, a Reid.
Are Donahues in the Duncan Clan?
I am a Robertson ...we dropped the "T" somewhere on the move to America in the 1600's ...
