Although the Colquhoun army of 800 men was vastly superior in number to the MacGregor army of 350 men, The MacGregors used the boggy terrain to their advantage by being on dry high ground while the Colquhoun army were down in the bottom of the glen on boggy ground. The MacGregor army split into two forces, they attacked the Colquhoun army from the front and the rear leaving them with no way of escape. Half of the Colquhoun army were on horseback which were useless in the freezing winter bog, the result was a rout for the MacGregor's with 150 to 200 Colquhoun's dead compared to a handful of MacGregor's. Campbell's plan had worked and King James VI proscribed the MacGregor clan later that year, Campbell was awarded the MacGregor land for his loyalty to the crown. The Calders and the Campbells on Family Feud? Look, we are all brothers in this world and it does not matter what the last name is. I'm sure you'll get over it at some point because anger only eats you up inside, not anyone else. And your heslth is way more important than some grudge that makes you angry. eace be with you my friend.
Informative and well presented, thank you.
Irrelevant question: I’m English but my grandma was a Scottish Campbell, does that still make me a clan Campbell descendent even though I don’t have the name, but I still have the blood?
Yes
@@gurgekurdan228 yes
Of course, Scottish people are superstitious people who fear, respect, and honor their ancestors to the point it's in their daily life! Pride means everything and you should defend it to the death! Blood never runs cold unless you're dead
Yes, blood is blood
It means outsider clans will hate you as much as any of us. Screw it, I'll buy the 1st round!!
Way Different Times, family. Enjoy learning about my ancestors. There are quite a few of us Campbells come to find out.
I am a born Campbell and proud of it and I knew of all the things that had been done
Margaret Campbell is my name, im named after my grandmother , great grandmother etc etc. Proud scot
Campbell's...
If their not making soup, they're making trouble 😂
I'm Proud to be a campbell
same brother
Many a young person nowadays use the comment here i qoute to be proud my question is why dont any of these young people say to be gratefull to be?...
Campbell for ever!
Sounds like they saved the little girls life.
I am a Campbell my blood not by name but it is really funny how much the hatred between clans is still around today.
I think alot of that is just hearing this part of the story, told from one side. The two families intermarried early on when it was convenient for both. Alot of the banter now is in jest and can be great fun...;)
Campbell, McDonald and Mcdougall on my father's side. Sword family on my mother's side.
My name would be Campbell if not for illegitimacy. Proud of my heritage
Be proud of our heritage but don't allow it to cloud judgement of others for there's ne obliviscaris
My maiden name is Campbell. :)
Plenty of illegitimates in the Campbell legacy. Don't let that deter you! ;) It's in your blood.
My Camble Family line is the Catholic line.
The Campbells are who the Boltons in Game of thrones, are base on. And Idonna think it’s far off….
My father is a Campbell and my mother a Lambert...God help me!
Clan Campbell ❤ My 12th great grandfather is Duncan Campbell - The Black Duncan
How would an American Campbell be received today while visiting Scottland? My husband is a Campbell, and I am a Ewing by my mother's line.
Just fine....alot of this is old hat.
I've never had any real difficulty. If you behave respectfully you won't have any problems. Your Americanness has more potential to cause problems than carrying the Campbell name. I do pay cash and keep a low profile in Glen Coe, however...
Clan McDermott , sept of the Campbell's !
Bob Bieschke 72
Bob Bieschke I was a Mc Dermott. Grandmother a Campbell.

Naill (Neil) Campbell who was married to Robert the Bruce’s sister was my direct ancestor but with his first wife in my lineage of Alyse de Crawford.
My great grandmother was a Campbell.
Live long MacGregor clan
Aye, I'll second that.
Can i go to our Castel ??? is my essence I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH SOUTH AFRICA
Not much on Campbell's, since the line of Alpin should be the rightful Earls of Argyll. Grigorach! S Rioghal Mo Dhream!
DESPITE THEM ALL
Yes indeed
@@corrinenolan344 Absolutely
Well Alpins line was carried on through the chiefs of Siol Alpin
Glen Orchy? Not in Argyll? It was the territories of the Siol Alpin long before that. We are talking of the union of Dal Riata and the Picts under MacAlpin long before French De Brus, and the Stewards come to light in this part of the world and the Campbell is used as tax collecting cannon fodder or better yet given leave to poach Clan Gregor. There is a saying among the old clans of Scotland, we are celtic, everyone else is French.
I loved it thank you.
A MacDonald relative married a Campbell in the 1950s or '60s and it was a family scandal for decades. 🤣My dad's maternal grandfather was a Gaelic speaking MacDonald.
even in 1980's, a campbell was often 'scunner campbell'- a tarrin' o a' wi' a big brush- l quite agree, but no really meant that seriously.
Seems like Campbell had to stop the MacDonalds because the MacDonalds were not going to stop.
My home town of Campbell, our fave restaurant is McDonald's 🤔
Lol that's a good one 😂😂😂
Casey Campbell here, Proud of my family the good and the bad. People do what they do when they do it because it's what's in their heart in the moment. My neighbor is a McDonald we get on just fine. No matter the feud between the families.
MacIntyre here. Y'all owe me a beer or something, shame in your ancestors lol
Archibald Gruamach Campbell, 7th Earl of Argyll is my 11th great grandfather.
I’m a Campbell and proud…
I’m a Campbell and proud to say it !
No kidding Mr Hunter. Talk about a COI

Have just discovered I am from clan Campbell.
Welcome to the clan. Be proud of our heritage.
4th generation Campbell from mother side Donald Campbell born there1843, I'm a Campbell Bennett, the second name is Irish from New South wales.
I am a direct descendant of The Clan MacCloud from the isle of Skye and also of the Clan Campbell...the MacDonnells was responsible for nearly wiping out all of the Clan MacCloud and also murdered hundreds of Campbell’s as well...so what if the MacDonnells copped a bit of payback for their actions...one day soon I hope to have the money to visit Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye...❤️❤️❤️
hey im trying to reach out to other campbells my name is jason campbell and that would be really cool to see Dunvegan Castle.
Don’t worry Jason we are all well connected The Campbell’s being decendant’s and bloodline of the Clan MacCloud’s...✌️
@@gailshepherd10 cool hey does anyone in your family have anger issues? cause i do my dad does and my grandfather does.
Hey One Gamer Jason Campbell...the answer is “ YES “...it most definately is the Scottish brood in us...after many years I have learnt to control any anger issues...let me just say “ If anyone gives me the you know what’s “...I just take my leave of them and the situation and return home to my little piece of Heaven that I live in with my little fluffy earth Angel Dog that I call “ Baby “...and chill out and meditate. That’s the trick to killing it straight away...no more anger issue’s...but put it this way I refuse to go, buy or eat “MacDonnell’s” fast food out let’s...and that’s why they say fast food will kill you...lol...!!!...🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
@@gailshepherd10 yeah i hear ya i also meditate from time-to-time im not easy to upset but when i do get upset i lash out in a fit of rage usually not physical. its only gotten physical twice and both times i went blank and by time i realized what id done it was too late like one time my friend and i were playing super mario bros on the wii an my friend died to a goomba i laughed he then jokingly said shut up and hit my shoulder(i was now laughing uncontrollably) so he hit me in the same spot like idk 10-15 times before i asked him to stop he did it once more and i said ok dude stop he did it again so i hit him back on his shoulder he then hit me in the face i blacked out when i came-to his glasses were broken and my older brother (who had been watching the whole time)was holding my arms behind my back i felt terrible but we made up later that week luckily i was like 9-10 so i didnt do too much damage.
Do Not Forget Brandy Ethel Campbell.
Bloody Donald dougel Mc haggis is my ancestor.
Amazing the Shit Some Very Corrupt People Still Try To Pull To This Day, In America.
the hate for clan campbell does not derive from one incident but a long history of of campbell aquisition by force and lies
Exactly
You say that like no other clan or group of people were acting the same way in that place and time.
I'm a Campbell from the US learning about my ancestry
I am Campbell because my grandmother maiden name was Edith Campbell.
