I have a BKB Xenith (FOCBOX Unity) that I am setting up with the battery and two 6380 190KV motors on a Landyachtz 2020 Evo 40 Spectrum Longboard. Hoping it all goes well. This will be my first build, technically second because I have a BKB Duo, but this one is going to be from the ground up.
Thanks. This video helped alot. Was having issue with vx1 remote. It was paired, however I had the throttle control turned off in the Vesc remote setting was why the remote wasn't working..
I don't have a focbox, I have a flipsky vesc dual, but this video helped me understand better how to use the parameters in the vesc tool. So thanks ! By the way, when you set the battery current max I didn't realise you needed to do it for both motors. That might be why my board is giving me trouble (random short drops in power while accelerating possibly due to drawing too much amps from the battery)
Great video! I do have a few questions though. I have a Mototec Thor and one of the controllers went on the fritz, I want to replace the dual motor controllers with a Focbox. Can you wire in a throttle (currently have a QS-S4 throttle) or would I have to use the wireless controllers. I know the Apollo Ludicrous has a Focbox set up and my scooter has similar motors and battery sizes. I miss the speed of my scooter and always try and find better upgrades or solutions. I find the brakes not strong enough on that board and was thinking getting a vesc ESC to help fixing that issue, I have a hard time finding the specs of those cells , have you heard of them or got the info about them? I wonder if I will see a good difference, the esc in it right now is a hobbywing 30A , thanks

Hi Guys!! does anyone knows how to fix issue updating focbox? i followed this process but i keep getting erase time out , update timed out, or somethines it will go all the way but when i hit auto connect it saying again the firmware on versc is newer than the vesc tool i am using? I downloaded the free version from vesc site Do I need to purchase the software maybe in order to work?

I've followed your tutorial closely and keep getting the warning that I need the latest software in order to configure or detect my motors. The version, I believe, is the most up to date, that being, 6.02. I'm totally stuck. I've connected, I believe, everything correct. I have downloaded the newest software after the warning, used autoconnect again and still it tells me I need it. On your video, when you auto connected after the download you didn't receive that warning. What am I doing wrong??? I just keep receiving a warning that says it can't configure my motors.........
Have you tried this on the 5.3 firmware yet? I tried and I haven’t been able to ride for over a month now because I can’t get my remote to pair with it. Even after getting a new remote. So frustrated. Also it’s because I have to rely on a and reliable friend who has an android so I only get to Try every once in a blue moon. I thought the new remote would have solved the issue but it wasn’t even a step forward and progress. Please help me.
My focbox came with mr60 connections. I need to solder something to match the connections. Do you recommend replacing the mr60 with bullet connectors or my motors with mr60 connectors?
I ordered extended trucks but I’m having issues installing the wheels. The length of the rode u put the wheels on has too much space from the center of the wheel to the bolt. Can u please tell me how to mount so I don’t have a lot of space in between the wheels
Hello can any one help me , i use a hub motor on my electric skate board with sensor motors and when ever the sensor wires are plugged in the whole board shuts off
right off the bat, after clicking the ‘auto connect’ button, i got a message saying “could not auto connect. make sure the usb cable is plugged in and the vesc is powered on” any suggestions????
@@MBoardsco i installed a virtual com port driver that someone else recommended and it allowed me to auto connect buuut even after following the instructions to the key there seems to be some problem with my direct drives not turning during the motor direction step of the set up so i can’t tell what direction they turn by default. recommendations?
So, my Focbox is giving me a “flux linkage not detected” error when I try and connect a motor. I thought this was a problem with my motor, but I ordered 2 others and they both have the same problem. I HAD to replace the power connector for the FOCBOX, but I touched nothing else. What on earth is the problem here?
Sounds like your cut off voltage is set too high. If your battery’s voltage is less than the cut off voltage, the FocBox cuts off power mid motor detection. Lower the voltage cut off and this should fix it.
Hello, I know this is super outdated but what's up with focbox/enertion going out of business, and what's up with all the hate/drama with enertion and Jason potter? Sorry I'm sort of out of the loop
Enertion went bankrupt, Jason was able to continue production of FocBox under a new company (Massive Stator). Lots of drama around a very complicated situation.
As far as we understand it, when Enertion went bankrupt they had many many orders still unfulfilled so all of those people went with out refunds. The general consensus is that many people feel that the Intellectual property of the FocBox should have been sold in efforts to process more refunds. Jason seems like he wanted to do his best to keep the product alive as so many people admired it and to salvage what was left of this project. We don’t take a particular stance on the situation since there are so many sides to the story. The situation is very complex. All we know for sure is that we enjoy using the Focboxes in our boards.

The FocBox would be a great upgrade. But if your current ESC is working fine then I’d probably wait until you are experiencing issues. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it ☺️

Setting a Maximum ERPM removes your brakes if you exceed that speed. You should leave that at the hardware default.

I would swap the connectors on your motor to maintain the warranty of your FocBox.
can you run extended trucks in the back of a belt driven board and normal trucks in the front.
I suppose you could, I’d recommend riding with matching trucks if possible.

The axles are longer so you can add wider tires if you wanted, You’ll just need to add a spacer. A bearing spacer works great 👌🏻

Make sure the USB cable can carry a data signal rather than just power. This would result in that message.

Where do I get the ?UART? or ?PPM? on your website? or does the FOCBOX come with one?

Sounds like your cut off voltage is set too high. If your battery’s voltage is less than the cut off voltage, the FocBox cuts off power mid motor detection.
Lower the voltage cut off and this should fix it.
