FInally after years of the VESC being out someone makes a tutorial for others. Thank you Pavel. A few things If I may add... that seem important to me. To remember always to press the "read motor/app configuration" buttons before one starts changing values otherwise you will then save default values and mess up the whole configuration (at last to press the save motor/app config button to save). The absolute current setting is not for 2x current of the motor. It is set to 130a and it should stay that way for all setups and shouldn't be messed with or lowered down. Traction control is good to have on because of the "max ERPM difference" between your 2 wheels, even though traction control never really worked before it does keep the max ERPM difference capped so one doesn't get spin outs on one wheel only but as soon as one wheel reaches the predefined difference, the other wheel will start spinning too, very nice to have, you don't get stuck on gravel or soft ground. And one last thing is the ramping time positive/negative. That dictates how quickly the throttle or brakes respond to your remote. Very important to mess with when having remotes with short travel or when needing more smoothness or quicker response in power delivery. Awesome to have you Pavel.
I just wanted to also thank you for this info. This has already helped me solve a problem I was having, and having a difficult time finding a remedy for! I'm sure this additional info will be valuable to someone else also!
To everyone who asked me for this tutorial - here it is! The screen recording is a bit blur .....not sure why but it is clear enough : ) Hope this will help you!
Guys, Thank you for all the comments and questions. I would like to mention couple things .... I am not a professional and do build boards for fun only .... There are different parts that are being used by everyone and you should do your own research before programming your board.... This video is a guide only and a nice step forward to people who never done this before... Note that I am using Lipo batteries and they can handle the peak discharge rates higher than 18650 packs.... Always test the board in a controlled environment ( not on the road! ) and with full PPE on ...please... Good luck and please let me know if this video was helpful to you.... RIDE SAFELY GUYS!!!!!!
Hey Bro. I have a question there is nothing g on programing the stormcore 60D+, it only has 1 USB port for programing the flipsky has on for each vesc, is doing just that ine port do both sides?
Hello! Comments like this do give me energy to carry on - THANK YOU! Got dislikes already so seems that people do not appreciate the unplanned and honest videos ; )
@@PavelGarmas I just tried doing some changes to my vesc "based" esc and it cannot update firmware and the changes I make are not kept. It recognizes the vesc, but nothing works.Do you have any suggestions? Is it bricked?
@@PavelGarmas will take some time mate the diy community is growing and your detailed and clear videos will be a goldmine :). I am building my first DIY dual motor, have a raptor 2 at the moment.
Pavel. Can you do a follow up video on changing settings via the app? I'm have successfully set up via PC. I now want to be able to change specific settings. Motor max and min. Battery max and min. And Ppm throttle curves.
Hope you can help! I have wasted hours and hours of time trying to get this drive to control my motor. Looks like a great product and software but the lack of documentation is so frustrating. I want to use it for a product and will buy several thousand of them if I can get it to work. I hook it’d up, sometimes it spins a few turns and stops but that it.
Hello Kent, I will help if i can but would need a bit more information mate. So what is that you are working on? What esc are you using? What motors? Battery? Controller? Is it a skateboard or an electric bike?
Pavel Garmas Thanks Paul. I’m actually building a mobile cart. I’m trying to use a Flipsky Dual 4.2 100A with two Bafang (8fun) 250W 36V front hub motors. I plan on controlling the system w an Arduino. Problem is I can’t get the Flipsky drive to control the motors. If I run the second like in your video, sometimes it starts to work turns really slow, then rev really slow for a second but no real power. Then if I hit the Run button, it usually give me an error like no halls sensed. I’ve tried for hours. It’s so frustrating. For now. I’m powering it with a 0-40v 50Amp power supply.
Your awesome, searched for an hour and couldn’t find this. Not should on Bafang website. Hopefully this will work. I think I’m close to getting this to work. The auto detect does move the motor but only slowly and about 2 revs and stops. I’m hoping it’s something setting like this.
Kent, motor detection does move the motor slowly backwards and forwards the should spin it up. I have never worked with the motors for the e-bikes but very interested. Please let me know how it goes. Good luck.
nice but id of liked to have seen you set up the battery cut offs and explained how those work because forums are full of people saying they hit cut off and got tossed off the board or had bad performance due to voltage sag up steep hills etc
Hello mate, This video was log enough and is good for someone who does not know how to set up the VSEC. VESC tool is very good and "smart" all the cut off settings are actually done for you as long as you get the battery parameters put in correctly. Even I do not go in depth of custom setting the cut off points and never had any issues with Lipo or 18650 set up, I will try to find time and make a video with more detail in the future, Ride safely!
!!!!!!!!!!!!VERY IMPORTANT!!!! PLEASE READ !!!!! ENSURE TO SPLIT YOUR BATTERY MAXIMUM DISCHARGE RATE BETWEEN TWO ESC SIDES UNLESS YOU ARE USING SINGLE UNIT. SO EXAMPLE : IF YOU HAVE A BATTERY PACK WITH MAXIMUM DISCHARGE RATE OF 80 AMP - EACH SIDE OF ESC SHOULD BE SET TO 40 AMP! SAME FOR THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING - SPLIT BETWEEN TWO SIDES SO IF YOU WANT 10AMP REGEN - PUT IN 5AMP EACH SIDE! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
The maximum charge rate for your battery is 5C, not 15C (according to Turnigy's web site). 40A x 2 (80A) seems to be an extremely high current to be pushing back into your battery, even if it's just short bursts. How are they holding up?
Hi, Thanks for the comment, Batteries are fine so far. Had circa 15 charges on them already. Best test was riding the board in France at the event where brakes had to be used a lot. Why do you multiply 40A times motor amount..... esc will not let more that 40 Amp through to the battery. Battery is 8000 mAmp each so 40 is a good setting. Am I wrong
Great video. The video has been very helpful, but I am having an issue at 15:27 on the video. I don't have any activity on the PPM Mapping. I have changed the VESC selection and have plugged it into both VESC's to test. I have updated the firmware a few times. I have gone thru the setup several times and keep having the same issue. I have a Flipsky Dual 4.20 VESC, hub motors, a Flipsky VX1 remote. Any help would be great.
Great Video, its WAY easier than I thought it was going to be. I do wish I could connect into my SR flex e 2 carbon and adjust the braking. There must be a programming header on the board, maybe someone could make some software to reprogram it? :) Great vid.
Yo man! Appreciate vid.. I got to the end of the motor setup wizard. After I enter my gears (I am using e-Toxx chain drive. 8-40 and when I hit the run detection I get error message your vesc is not connected connect your vesc and try again. Any idea what this can be. Thanks
Have you tried to set the gear count after the detection? Gear numbers is for the correct speed reading only. Is the cable you are using in good shape and is definitely a data cable and not just power cable?
Kho, Thank you so much mate! Very nice to receive a comment like this : ) Ride safely and if you need any information - let me know. I do have loads of videos and can point you in a right direction.

@@PavelGarmas It's one that looks like an electric bike motor. But it doesn't weigh nearly as much as what is hows for the bike hub motor on the vesc setup.
Good morning! Thank you very much for a lovely comment. Really glad that the video helped. One thing to note that the battery max needs to be equal or less than the ESC motor max. I was using the Lipo batteries for the set up so doubled it but for 18650 please have the battery max = motor max, Ride safely buddy.

@@akincb3114 Sounds like an awesome board mate! Speed wobbles are not pleasant and it does take time to get the board set up and fine tuned to fit the riders style and weight...some people use different bushings / springs at the front and rear. Loose trucks will give an awesome carving but wobbly top speed.... Just be really careful when testing the board mate. Another tip is to keep the weight distribution towards the front like the downhill racers do - helps with the wobbles.
Hey, how are you? Great video. I see that you reviewed the Flisky vx2 pro. Can you do a video on how to set up that Remote through the UART port on a dual Vesc.
Hello mate! Thank you for watching and commenting. You do not actually need to set VX2 up on vesc tool mate. The remote just needs calibrating ( on the remote ) and that is it.... makes it simple.
Hey Pavel Garmas, this is really helpful tutorial. But I have hard time figuring out how to set the Battery Current Max and Battery Current Max Regen given battery configurations. And also want to figure out how to connect the keyboard/wireless Joystick to VESC. Would be great if you can help with this.
Great tool! I am trying to use this with two Bafang Wheel motors (250w). The tool doesn't seem to detect it properly, the motor moves each way but very slowly. I can't get it to run more than about 10% speed. One question, how do I determine the pole pairs or effective poles? Thanks!
Hi Kent, Pole number or pole pairs number should be mentioned in the manufacturers literature.... I did dig around and found the spec for you : ) You got 20 pole. Hope this helps. here is a link : www.aliexpress.com/item/32879856483.html
Hi Pavel, congratulations for your channel ....I would like to ask you why I have an uneven acceleration when I push hard on the throttle ...I use a Flipsky 4.2 plus and two 6374 same brand . Thanks
Hello Marco, Thank you for the comment buddy. It is hard to diagnose the issues with so little information but here are some points > does the battery S count match the ecs max allowed S value, what battery are you using and what is the max discharge rate of it..... is the battery Max lower than the motor Amp settings.... sounds like the battery can not deliver enough power to both motors under constant load, Hope this helps and please let me know how you get on.... BTW is the BMS by-passed on the discharge ...
Hmmmm...should be no issue then. Your batteries are quite good. Can the Flipsky 4.2 take 12S I am not sure TBH. Try setting the motors to 50 each and the battery max to 100. Test the board carefully and see if the acceleration is smoother. Flipsky 4.2 is rated to 100 Amp cont only and you are pushing it to 120 ....that could be the reason, Let me know buddy.
I started w just one motor first. Connected the drive to my PC, it worked great. Tried setting up the motor BLDC motor and first tried a medium motor and then tried a wheel motor. I hook it up to a different brand drive, works first time w no set up. So power supply and motor have no problems. Just something is screwed up in the way the software detects this motor I’m guessing.
Got the app running in an android device. Was able to connect board once. After I get the “could not read firmware version. Make sure that the selected port really belongs to the vesc
Hello Luis, Thank you for watching the video and for the question, Battery current max = Amps x c rating so in your case : 3.3 x 30 = 99Amp max discharge. Each battery should indicate the max discharge so each parallel battery max X amount. Do not forget to divide by amount of motors. so if you have the dual motor board : 99 :2= 49.5 Amp MAX, Hope this helps buddy!
@@21111009198573 Hello mate, Amp stay the same when you connect in series but voltage doubles so if two 6S packs are connected, they become 12S pack with 3300 mAmp capacity.
Pavel, well if you're using 6S3P battery type or similar, think they you have to put 6S as series instead of 12(as you're requested to put series but not all what counts parallel connection)
Alex, You need to put in a total 12S value of the pack. I have used two 6S Lipos in series so it is 12S in total. Hopefully I have understood your comment correctly.

Is it possible to connect wirelessly like on the app? via Bluetooth? my board doesn’t have a micro usb. Or atleast I can’t find one. Trying to pair a Summerboard remote.
Hi, Yes, it is possible to connect to the esc remotely but you will need a dongle r an NRF module for that. MetrPro makes one and the app to suit, Trampa sells one and you can use the vesc tool app with that. Hope this helps.
Nice work i still use the older style ackmaniac vesc tool and firmware has some nice tweeks not in standard version. Shouldnd you have you battery set to lipo graphines are a lipo style chemistry. You didnt cover canbus setup much. Its something i struggled with when i started using 2 vescs. Great video
Hi! Thank you for the comment buddy!I am sorry if i have missed something in the video....all the steps were covered I believe. The new tool has less steps and fiddling around to do. What is the question regarding canbus?
What vesc are you using? It looks like a flipsky but I can't tell. Trying to decide on one for my first build but hear mixed reviews on flipsky. Recommend anything? Thanks this video will help big time!
Hi mate, I am using the first generation Flipsky 6.6 plus with the heat sink. Still works no problem however there are a few reports that the new version and the mini do burn out. I would recommend the Maytech 50Amp or if you can afford it then the Trampa HD60 vesc. I got both reviews on my channel if interested.
Hey man your video is the best tutorial out there!! I appreciate it saved me a lot of headache. Do you happen to know if the flipsky dual 4.20 vesc can controll 2 motors independently via rc channels (2)? Any info appreciated!
Hi buddy, Thank you for a nice comment. Unfortunately not...4.20 would not control the motors separately....none of the dual vesc esc would. They way they work is one is the master and the other one is slave. You will need to use two separate esc units as far as i know. BTW .... 4.20 is quite weak and does not support FOC mode safely.
@@PavelGarmas hey like I said b4 I appreciate the info!! Hi Pavel. I've bought a 50A/240Amp Flipsky FSESC for a ebike I'm building. In the setup Wizard where you choose the ratio of the motor sprocket and wheel sprocket I can't really do that for my bike. The gearbox I'm running the motor through is about a 40:1 reduction. Do you have any suggestions for what figure to put in the VESC Tool Wizard? Thanks.
Hi, Thank you for watching and for the comment. Gear sizes are strictly for the speed and the battery range readings and will not effect the set up of the esc. Are you planning to use a separate speedometer and read from the sensor off the wheel?
@@PavelGarmas Hi. I probably won't have a speedometer, I'm building for hill climbing torque. A 60-65-200kv motor on 10s. My main reason for using the FSESC is to limit the power input. Thanks for your reply :-)
Hi Pavel, Thanks again for this great video 👍 You are using a dual Vesc. I am using 2 focboxes using a canbus cable to connect then. My question, do I have to do the motor detection on both foc boxes, or ist it enough Doing it on one, do to the canbus connects the second ? Setting the Remote , as you said, it detects the remote connected device. Do I have to do the same on the second focbox, saying that it is the slave ? Or will it be set automatically ? Thx again for your time and help 👌👍👍
Hello William, I do normally set the Master esc and the slave gets the settings via the canbus BUT I do always plug the second esc ( even the duals ) and do check if the settings did transfer. Did both motors spin up when you done the detection via the Master esc? As for the remote, you just set it up for Master esc and then the Master controls the Slave. Hope this helps. PS! Always test the board function and the remote function on the bench and then in the well controlled area ( like a quiet park ) before going on the street ride. Please ware helmet and pads …. testing is the key! You might find that the power is too high or the brakes are to strong while testing …. good to get it perfect before blasting on the road : )

Should the battery current max set to half? in ur case 60A instead of 120A if your setup is dual? Then batter max = 1/how many motors. Or is it only applicable to two phyiscal VESC connected in can. THANKS
Hi mate, Very good question. You need to divide the battery current max and apply half to each esc or vesc. So if your battery current max is 100 Amp , 50 Amp per vesc. I was setting up for a high discharge lipos ....
It would be great to use this tool. But I can't download the software from the site. Neither the paid nor the free version. Could you help me? Thanks in advance, have a nice day.

Hello mate, Did you choose the option of dual vesc in the tool? Did you set each vesc and done the motor detection? Did you save the changes every time you made some changes?
I think I could download the tool...after that not much:) But I must say the setup does not look terribly complex. As always, an interesting, well done video, my friend.
hi i have a question to you, in my case the board breaks fully if the remote lost the connection for a second, and if you are on the board you fall (i have the same remote like in the video). Is there a way to deactivate this funktion or to lower the breakpower in case of a disconnect?
Hello Swen, This is really strange.... did you calibrate the remote? Is the neutral position almost 0.0 %? Please carry out a test - put the board on its back ( wheels up ) push the throttle forward and start walking away from the board or get someone to start walking away from the board....remote will get far enough and will loose the connection....watch what will happen. I don't think that it is the disconnection issue to be honest. Let me know how you get on please.

Very informative Tutorial, i noted when you are testing your motors that your motor current is around 70 Amp. What is the size of your motors? I have the Trampa 6376 (max power 3800 watt as shown in their website) but it s giving me 60 Amp only. Thanks again.
Hello Jamal, Thank you for the nice comment. The motors I am using are 6374 190 kV motors by Street Wing. I do have a couple of videos about the motors on my channel. My motors to come up as 74 and 70 Amp max... quite nice but I do run them on 60-65 normally. Hope this helps.
Hello, The battery max current needs to match the total vesc current so if you are running dual motors and dual vesc then multiply ( two motors 60 amp each = 120 amp total...battery max discharge 120 or you can work it backwards from battery max allowed and get the motor max ). I am using the single dual vesc so consider the total for both motors. Hope this makes sense.
@@PavelGarmas You should click on the question marks for each setting and not give bad information to people. The dialog box clearly says "THE BATTERY CURRENT IS ALWAYS LOWER THAN OR EQUAL TO THE MOTOR CURRENT". The battery current max should be 1/2 of the motor current max for dual setups, not double!

Hi mate! Thank you for the question. I am not a specialist in ebikes but thinking logically - yes you can in principal. You need to decide how are you going to charge it. The plug is most likely the balance cables.... is the battery 8S by any chance?
Great vid bro! Just one quick question, if we change the vesc erpm setting to limit the belt driven motor's rpm (let's say to 3040rpm), would that give us more torque than a setup with the same wattage output but rpm on the motor's default values (9120rpm out of 48v * 190kv)?
Hi, Very good question. I am not the Guru on all of this but based on my tests - the torque does not change. The best way to gain torgue is to play around with gearing and to reduce the size of the wheels. I have found that default 9120 ; 12S ; 190 kV with 66 / 15 gearing and 7" AT wheels gives it the best torque and 30 mph.

If I run it in the FOC detection the other method I get an error "R is 0" and can't get any further that way either. All help greatly appreciated
Hi, Are you using two esc units? You need to connect them with the cable ( it does stay permanent ) and then one esc becomes the master and another the slave. Remote gets connected to the master only and the master esc tells the slave what to do. You program each vesc separately but need to name them 00 and 01 or slave and master. Hopefully it helps but if not, let me know and I will clarify more.
@@PavelGarmas Thanks for your answer. I'm using 2 ESCs, programmed separately. I have the ESC ID 101 and the 2. My remote is on the 101. But I don't see the parameter to send over CANBUS on the ID 101..
I am confused..... so you got two esc units connected with the canbus cable? Are you using the latest vesc tool? I have tried downloading the VESC Tool from vesc-project.com/ . But the website isn't working. I have tried on several different devices and networks. Anybody else have this problem or know what is going on? All I want is to download it to be able to program my VESC and start riding!
Chris, The same issue was reported on FB forums as well....it is not just you I am afraid. I do have the newest vesc tool version on my PC and can email it to you if that helps. I never done this before but should work : )
FInally after years of the VESC being out someone makes a tutorial for others.
Thanks man!
Good points buddy! I think I will redo the video ;)
I just wanted to also thank you for this info. This has already helped me solve a problem I was having, and having a difficult time finding a remedy for! I'm sure this additional info will be valuable to someone else also!
Would traction control stop strange wobble at max speed due to duty cycle current limit ??

I am not a professional and do build boards for fun only ....
There are different parts that are being used by everyone and you should do your own research before programming your board....
This video is a guide only and a nice step forward to people who never done this before...
Note that I am using Lipo batteries and they can handle the peak discharge rates higher than 18650 packs....
Always test the board in a controlled environment ( not on the road! ) and with full PPE on ...please...

Then if I hit the Run button, it usually give me an error like no halls sensed. I’ve tried for hours. It’s so frustrating.
For now. I’m powering it with a 0-40v 50Amp power supply.

nice but id of liked to have seen you set up the battery cut offs and explained how those work because forums are full of people saying they hit cut off and got tossed off the board or had bad performance due to voltage sag up steep hills etc

This video was log enough and is good for someone who does not know how to set up the VSEC. VESC tool is very good and "smart" all the cut off settings are actually done for you as long as you get the battery parameters put in correctly. Even I do not go in depth of custom setting the cut off points and never had any issues with Lipo or 18650 set up,
I will try to find time and make a video with more detail in the future,

I am here to help and will do my best.
The maximum charge rate for your battery is 5C, not 15C (according to Turnigy's web site). 40A x 2 (80A) seems to be an extremely high current to be pushing back into your battery, even if it's just short bursts. How are they holding up?
Hi,
Thanks for the comment,
Batteries are fine so far.
Sounds like an awesome board mate!

How do you figure out what your battery current max is? I have 2 3300 mah, 5 sell batteries wired in series. The discharge rate is 30c
Hello Luis,
Thank you for watching the video and for the question,
Battery current max = Amps x c rating so in your case : 3.3 x 30 = 99Amp max discharge. Each battery should indicate the max discharge so each parallel battery max X amount.
Do not forget to divide by amount of motors. so if you have the dual motor board : 99 :2= 49.5 Amp MAX,
Hope this helps buddy!
Pavel Garmas Does the battery current max go up if you connect the 2 batteries in series or does it stay the same at 99 amps? Thank you for your help!
@@21111009198573
Hello mate,
Amp stay the same when you connect in series but voltage doubles so if two 6S packs are connected, they become 12S pack with 3300 mAmp capacity.
Pavel, well if you're using 6S3P battery type or similar, think they you have to put 6S as series instead of 12(as you're requested to put series but not all what counts parallel connection)
Alex,
You need to put in a total 12S value of the pack. I have used two 6S Lipos in series so it is 12S in total. Hopefully I have understood your comment correctly.

Hey man your video is the best tutorial out there!! I appreciate it saved me a lot of headache. Do you happen to know if the flipsky dual 4.20 vesc can controll 2 motors independently via rc channels (2)? Any info appreciated!
Hi buddy,
Thank you for a nice comment. Unfortunately not...4.20 would not control the motors separately....none of the dual vesc esc would. They way they work is one is the master and the other one is slave. My question,
do I have to do the motor detection on both foc boxes, or ist it enough
Doing it on one, do to the canbus connects the second ?
Setting the Remote ,
as you said, it detects the remote connected device.
Do I have to do the same on the second focbox, saying that it is the slave ?
Or will it be set automatically ?
Thx again for your time and help

Hello William,
I do normally set the Master esc and the slave gets the settings via the canbus BUT I do always plug the second esc ( even the duals ) and do check if the settings did transfer.

More than welcome. Just test it fully in a controlled environment with full protection on....that is what i do...

Very informative Tutorial, i noted when you are testing your motors that your motor current is around 70 Amp. What is the size of your motors? I have the Trampa 6376 (max power 3800 watt as shown in their website) but it s giving me 60 Amp only. Thanks again.
Hello Jamal,
Thank you for the nice comment. The motors I am using are 6374 190 kV motors by Street Wing. I do have a couple of videos about the motors on my channel. My motors to come up as 74 and 70 Amp max... quite nice but I do run them on 60-65 normally.
Hope this helps.
the peapl sei for me everithing what I wont say hmmm nice job. You have orderet dual flypsky direkt from china or ? ebay?
LOL
I say - You are welcome : )
Yes I did order direct from Flipsky. I got the delivery in 8 days. Note that you will be charged the import duty!
The battery max current don't need to divide by number of vescs?
Hello,
The battery max current needs to match the total vesc current so if you are running dual motors and dual vesc then multiply ( two motors 60 amp each = 120 amp total...battery max discharge 120 or you can work it backwards from battery max allowed and get the motor max ). I am using the single dual vesc so consider the total for both motors.
Hope this makes sense.
@@PavelGarmas so in each vesc the battery max current will show 120a in ur case. Am I right?
Correct : )
@@PavelGarmas You should click on the question marks for each setting and not give bad information to people. The dialog box clearly says "THE BATTERY CURRENT IS ALWAYS LOWER THAN OR EQUAL TO THE MOTOR CURRENT". The battery current max should be 1/2 of the motor current max for dual setups, not double!

Thank you for correction buddy.
I have based my video on the set up that I normally use....never had any issues ( 5 boards so far ). I do agree - vesc tool got all the answers and people should reserch.

Hi, i wonder if you could helm me figuring something out, i recycled an e-bike battery, i could get more of the same but this battery has a 8connector CAN bus in the bms board i dont know why?!.
Any idea if i can use this battery without anything connected to this?.
Hi mate!
Thank you for the question. I am not a specialist in ebikes but thinking logically - yes you can in principal. You need to decide how are you going to charge it. The plug is most likely the balance cables.... is the battery 8S by any chance?
@@PavelGarmas i think is a 8s BUT the 8x connectors are marked: link a, link b, gnd, 1-wire, can h, can l, wkup and vsys.
Any idea?.
Great vid bro! Just one quick question, if we change the vesc erpm setting to limit the belt driven motor's rpm (let's say to 3040rpm), would that give us more torque than a setup with the same wattage output but rpm on the motor's default values (9120rpm out of 48v * 190kv)?
Hi,
Very good question.
Hi sr how can communicate with your, if is possible, I'm on trouble with my remote control and comication vecs tool, I did something wrong and nobody can't explain me nothing. Thanks
Hey I was wondering how you do the remote mapping without spinning the wheel?
Hello mate!
You can simply unplug the motors while you are setting up the remote. I normally just run the motors,
Regards.
Thanks buddy but for some reason is not working for me, I updated one of the vesc first and did on the second one as well but every time when is time to set up the remote I keep getting the message that is not updated not letting me finish the set up. Bottom line when I tried testing the motors kind shake before taking off a lot and makes weird noise. You have any idea what am doing wrong buddy. Thanks again you are the best!
What remote are you using mate?
I have the vx1 from flipsky it's so weird cause everything goes fine on the vesc tool but when I take out one of the motors to start goes backwards for little bit.
Everytime I push forward on the remote they start lagging ( shaking ) going a little backwards first.
Hey,
I know it might sound strange but did you try to swap the motor phase wires around?
Another thing - is the receiver plugged in correctly?
What settings do you have chosen in the remote section?
If it is easier, find me on FB and message …. might be quicker buddy.
can i use it for exway flex?
Hi,
Any esc that is based on vesc can be programmed and settings changed however I believe that this board has an integrated esc by Hobbie Wing so it is not programmable.
I'm doing somehting every so slightly different - My motor has no Hall Sensor - When I run the FOC detectionas per your vid it fails - It says "Detection failed. Reason : Sensor Detection failed". I'm using a MP70131 Motor 1.7kg Inrunner so I selected to 2000g option. Have you any idea how to get over this issue? If I run it in the FOC detection the other method I get an error "R is 0" and can't get any further that way either. All help greatly appreciated
Hello Luke,
FOC mode would require sensors mate. Try to set up in BLDC mode instead.
let me know if that works.
How to program slave esc for the remote controler? I have only one motor ready I think with this configuration
Sorry for my English, I'm from France
Hi,
Are you using two esc units?
There is an option where you choose your master esc when programming the remote plus there is an option to choose if multiple esc are being programmed at the beginning. Take a look at my video I am sure I did cover it.
@@PavelGarmas OK, Tuesday when I come back to home I'll see better that, thank you bro
@@PavelGarmas I do the same, there is no communication between the ESCs ID101 and ID2
on esc is one switch for something like dual or single what ..... what that switch means.

I would not recommend connecting more than one motor to a single vesc...each motor needs to be controlled and each motor does have HALL sensors that need to be plugged in....
man i downloaded vesc and its way different than this now, what firmware is this maybe i can get the version you have

Did it work? What firmware do you have on it?
Flipsky FSESC 4.12 50A SK8 ESC Banggood says its a 14s i would like to add 48v lithium cells,Is this possible to work?
Flipsky 4.12 is not a good esc mate...definitely not at 14S. I have used them on 12S and it did blow in a week ... it was on FOC mode.
4.12 is only ok on 10S and BLDC.

the most common problem is that it wont update the ESC even after the Restart.. any solutions on that ?
Hello,
I am sorry but I do not understand the question. What esc are you trying to program? Is it the vesc based esc? You might need to use the BLDC tool if it is not vesc based unit.
Please clarify the question and I will gladly help you mate.
@@PavelGarmas hi Pavel i have the Flipsky 4.2 the VESC detects and updates but there's no signal after the update. So when i restart the ESC there comes the warning again that it should be updated (again).. Tried with different cable and computer does not upgrade. Hmmmm
So you did use the correct cable - data cable? Did you try to see what is the latest software on the esc when you plug in?
does the vesc tool show any errors at the bottom left corner ?
Have you tried the BLDC tool? You should not run the FOC on the 4.20 anyway....
