    I own a Kia Sedona 2.9 manual diesel that was top of the range with full leather seats in 2006. Bought it Dec 2006 when it was a few months old. It's done 130k and has towed our luxury 6 birth caravan and sons all over Europe. Everything still works 100% and it still is an amazing vehicle that still looks stylish and is totally practical and extremely reliable. Well done Kia.

      We have a 2016 Kia Sedona SX, essentially the same van but has a 6-speed transmission. The love will die off soon enough. Our van has been at the dealer mny times for many different issues. Sliding door motors, steering wheel volume, front axles replaced 4 times, anti-sway bar links replaced, rear shocks replaced, rear caliper slider seized and now the left sliding door is making noise. We had an issue with one sliding door opening at random. Walk out of the house in the morning and the door will be open, walk out of the local mall and the door would be open, etc. Randomly lock with the key inside.

    To all the people who have doubt of buying Kia sedona. Let me give you guys a honest opinion of owning a Kia Sedona 2017 LX 3.3L engine. Well right my Sedona van has 30,000 miles I always travel from Vegas to California several times without any problem. I always have a comfortable rides and the car seats are really comfortable with lots of leg rooms and enough storage. The engine and transmission are built by Mitsubishi motor company. The power train is 10 years / 100,000 miles and the bumper to bumper is 5 years / 60,000 mile which ever comes first. The mechanic that I talked before maintained a Sedona 2015 it had more than 400,000 miles the engine and transmission mission were last for long as a solid tank. The guy who owned that Sedona used it for Uber and Lyft....buy it with no regrets! 💯👏

    The new 2020 sedona doesn't seem to have driver memory seats (i.e. for 2 separate driver positions), 360 camera, and rear seat entertainment system options anymore compared to the previous year. Can you confirm if this is actually the case?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can confirm that the lowest trim Sedona, and the higher trim levels have been discontinued for 2020 and they've repackaged the features in the remaining trim levels. To be fair to Kia Canada, they're giving dealers better values on the vans that sell well, while not tying up inventory with vans that didn't sell in high volumes. We now have an 8 seat Telluride that will eat into top-line Sedona sales so that also plays a factor in the decisions.

    What's KIA standard drive train warranty? 10y/100k? Are the floors between the middle and 3rd row completely flat? what's under the rear storage well? Nothing or a spare well or gas tank? If the floor is flat this would be a great for a conversion! Black out the windows, remove those middle seats and add 8 inch air vents in the back.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kia's warranty is different where I am, in Canada, compared to the USA. So depending on where you're from, the best way to get warranty information is to go to Kia.ca or Kia.com . When the rear seats are down, the floor back there is completely flat. I'm not sure what you mean by rear storage well, but if you mean behind the rear seats, that is where the rear seats fold when down, and there is nothing underneath that.

    No nav on the SX "tech" package?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In most situations, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are far superior systems to factory Navigation. They do have some shortcomings, but I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more manufacturers give up on factory navigation. I have factory nav in my vehicle, and almost never use it as Google Maps gives me better routing, live traffic data, it updates over time to be more and more accurate, it takes me places even when I don't know the exact address (Take me to the nearest McDonalds etc) It's simple to use. If your worry is the data, I usually tell people that if they have a data plan on their phone, and they're not brushing up against their data limits every month, then they probably won't even notice the data usage. Google Maps uses much less data than many people assume it does.

    • @Kevin-ve5rr
      @Kevin-ve5rr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 yrs before it might be an issue. But now Google offers you offline map, you can have the most updated country map downloaded to your phone and it will outwork any factory navigation system. When you have no signal or data connection, as long as your phone's GPS still tracks, you won't miss a turn, just like a factory navigation. And the maps are always new, as long as you update them before you leave your house.
      With Android Auto and Apply Carplay integration, auto makers will eventually get rid of their factory navigation. Possibly within 5 yrs or maximum a decade, cars won't come with navigation system no matter which trim you get.

    Preach preach preach 👏👏👏👏. The FCA vans do have that really cute feature where the seats fold into the floor. That would be awesome if you bought a minivan to use to haul things the way you do a pickup truck. The primary purpose of a minivan is to haul PEOPLE. People will never be as comfortable sitting in seats that are just a few inches from the floor as they would be sitting in a natural upright position. No one has a chair at home where their knees are above their waist when they’re sitting down. If you’re having difficulty picturing what I’m talking about just think about those times when you went to parent teacher night and you had to sit in your child’s chair. Both the FCA and Honda vans have seats that are way too low to the floor. The Sedona and Sienna have the most comfortable seating in that segment. I’ve taken a FCA van (that’s really all rental companies seem to purchase) on a road trip over several hundred miles and it’s a truly miserable trip. The FCA driver’s seat is pretty comfortable. After the driver’s seat I find more comfort (as a 6’2” adult) in the third row than in any of the other seats. If you have me one gratis I would immediately trade it for a Kia or Toyota van. For me Toyota’s main advantage is that they have an AWD offering. Still not sure why they won’t give us the 8 seater configuration with AWD. Doesn’t make sense to me. The captain’s chairs in vehicles do look more premium in some cases but if I am purchasing a bigger vehicle for more passenger volume and you take a whole seat away from me that leaves me scratching my head.
    Thanks for letting me share your sentiment. It’s something that’s never mentioned in these van reviews.

      I hear what you're saying, but to be fair to Kia Canada, they offer the vehicles that sell, and the reality is that the high end Sedona didn't sell in large volumes. Now that we have an 8 passenger Kia Telluride, people looking for premium features in an 8 passenger vehicle have another option within our lineup. The short answer is that, if people buy it, or want it, Kia Canada is pretty good about providing the vehicle. If the market shows that people don't want to buy a top trim level Sedona, then Kia will choose to focus its energy and money on vehicles and trims that are in higher demand.

    The Sedona is an alright minivan, but it is in SERIOUS need of an update, as the sales numbers speak for themselves. The Sedona is the worst selling minivan BY FAR, only pushing a little over 17,000 units in 2018. With the lack of features in comparison to the other minivans, and especially three row crossovers, I really hope kia is planning something BIG with the 2021 Sedona. With how well the telluride is doing, and how likely it is to eat into sedona sales, I would hate it if it got discontinued as a result. I couls very easily see the telluride killing off the Sedona completely in 2 - 3 years if sales don't improve.
    I just wish minivan manufacturers stopped sabotaging their minivans, and pushing potential buyers towards Crossovers with their incessant need on either not updating their vans, or avoiding features that should be standard like AWD or a 5,000 towing. There's no reason why modern minivans should be stuck at a constant limit of 3,500 pounds when a shitty 1993 Plymouth voyager with half the horsepower, torque and gears could pull that much. These last two years have been a downward trend, and I just want to see serious effort on the part of minivan manufacturers to challenge this trend.
    Sorry for the rant, I'm really passionate when it comes vans 😤

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! I appreciate your passion! The one thing that I'll point out about sales numbers, and this is especially relevant to Kia, is that sales numbers are often skewed by the number of dealerships. In small towns that don't have Kia dealers, there will be much fewer Kia's on the road. People don't tend to go out of their way to buy mainstream vehicles for several reasons. In our town, we still sell a significant number of Sedona's and although a refresh would be nice, if it pushes the price up, I'm not sure if that would benefit us. Many minivan buyers consider price to be a top 5 or top 3 consideration, and the Sedona does very well on a features per dollar basis. The Sedona has also proven to be exceptionally reliable.

    I own a 2016 Sedona SXL. I like mine better. This definitely is not the top of the line Sedona in the US..

      In Canada, our 2016 SXL was a very different vehicle than this one as well. Kia Canada and Kia Motors America make independent decisions about trim lines and how to equip those trim lines based on their markets.

    Adults don’t sit in the back usually it’s a car seat or kids. Who cares if they are comfortable. Would rather have seats that disappear so i can use the van for cargo and moving lots of stuff.

    i miss my brand new kia carnival 😭😭 before you buy this car don’t buy a dark colour and keep in mind the leather seat wear very easily just saying

      The cloth seats wear fast also. Our SX model wore through on the drivers side seat and the dealer said it was normal wear and tear. I know wear and tear happens but I've never experienced seat wear in any of my previous vehicles. It just goes to show that the material is not as durable as it should be.

    What a strange way to introduce a new vehicle. No video picture or film showing the vehicle except the guy just sitting down and talking .

      We do strange things here. Not everybody likes our style, and to be fair, we always look at ways of doing things differently. We work with limited resources, and because we're a dealership, not a review channel, our customers can come to our dealership and see the vehicle in person. I appreciate your feedback though, like I said, we're looking to improve and some of our videos are better than others.
