  • It's minivan time once again, this week's pick is the 2018 Kia Sedona SXL+, a fully loaded South Korean option in this highly competitive segment.
    Watch our episode of TestDrive Showdown on the 2018 Kia Sedona and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica here: • Ultimate Minivan Showd...
    Minivans aren't as popular as they used to be, but the race to get buyers into the seats of them is just as intense as it was a decade ago. While some of the domestic manufacturers have left the segment completely, some familiar faces are still fighting for minivan dominance. Our Spotlight is on the 2018 Kia Sedona SXL+, fully loaded for this model year with all the features you'd expect from a minivan, or even a mid-size crossover SUV.
    Our full tour and review of the Kia Sedona goes over the exterior safety and convenience technology, along with a detailed review of the interior, which includes the front cabin and centre row with reclining chairs. We also take the Sedona on a road test to talk about how it performs with it 3.3L V6 engine and 6 speed automatic transmission.
    We also talk about the fact that Kia Canada is already rolling out 2019 Sedona models with some updates like a Slide N Stow centre row seating system, an updated 8 speed automatic transmission, and an updated front end design.

    Hi Nile, I think this Sedona is a beautiful vehicle, especially in with the light-coloured leather that makes for an airy cabin. For buyers with families, there is so much more "utility" (and comfort) in a minivan than in a SUV, but the SUV driving experience is often more enjoyable.

      @PRNTestDrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good points! We do like the light colour on this interior, definitely helps to make it feel bright on the inside. We found the Sedona rides more like a crossover than the Pacifica did, so buyers might enjoy the Kia's experience more if they're into the crossover ride by minivan flexibility.

    We have a 16. We felt like it was a very good value for our money. Our kids our grown so we didn't get it as a family hauler. We bought it as a multipurpose vehicle. The real deciding factor was it was roomy enough to camp in. Being older, we appreciate not having to remove seats to put a mattress in. I do like the SUVlike styling of the exterior.

      Glad to hear it! The Sedona is great value for what you get, especially since the minivan market is getting smaller, and crossovers/SUVs are king.

      We've always got a Kia in the garage now ;) So we can try it out with either of the two we have this week, or the Stinger next week, or Elantra GT 6MT the week after! We've jumped over to an Android phone for the short term, so we'll try to play around with the settings to see if we can find anything on it!

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I’d take the Pacifica, as we explored in our episode of TestDrive Showdown comparing the two. Haven’t driven the Odyssey unfortunately so I can’t comment on that one.

  • @ernieD
    @ernieD 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those 3 dislikes are features I don't want anyway. And the Pacifica S pkg makes for a more sorta-sporty, mommy-van that id drive. 2nd/3rd row, flat, seat stow I would use alot. Seems we'd get more for our American $$ with Chrysler. But I've always been a Honda/Toy buyer, so there's that. Hate to trade my low miles, 15 HL-LE but that Pacifica S calling me real bad now. Great reviews.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Pacifica was a seriously good vehicle, and if the rumours are true of an AWD version coming it'll be an even more compelling argument to go with it over a crossover.

      Chrysler makes some of the most unreliable and worst fit/finish cars in the world. I'm sure their Pacifica minivan isnt an outlier.

    I am looking for a mini van I need a low lift gate so it will be easier for me to get my wheelchair in and out of. I know no car maker worries or thinks about people with special needs. However if Yku have any ideas I would love to hear them.
    I have had 3 Chrysler Town and Coutries and 1 Dodge Caravan. I would like to find or try a different make and model. What would You recommend. I do need the third row seats to fold flat.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sedona here might be an option, as the third row does fold flat, although the second row doesn't. I've heard from other viewers over the years about the difficulties they've experienced when it comes to special needs, and it's definitely something I think manufacturers should look at investing in. Third party vehicle modifications seem to be the way to go for a minivan, specifically Chrysler vans. Luckily the newer vans I've driven still have relatively low floor boards and no lips around the floor making it easier to get into. The Chrysler Pacifica is like this. We've booked the new Kia Carnival for early June, I'll include some information on it about the ease of entry and overall features that might be more important for you. Hope that will help!
