Brett: I see you had the Gen1 installed before. I do too and am about to purchase another doorbell for a secondary door with existing wiring. Which do you recommend in this situation?
@@TechWithBrett there is a known bug that the new nest cameras talk-back is not working with any Samsung phones. A lot of Samsung phone users like myself are really pissed.

Personal experience, functionality when wired offers way quicker response time. When in battery use, the camera sits in idle mode and takes quite a bit longer to bring up camera feed. It also lags when beginning to record when motion is detected. Definitely worth wiring IMO.
Great advice, thanks. I live on a busy street, and no matter how few events I choose to record, setting low sensitivity etc, it still goes through battery so quick. It's waking up everytime soneone walks past which can be 20-30 per day.

I sort of missed showing this but you will receive every notification on your phone. So you will be notified if someone presses the doorbell or if it detects a package all depending on what notifications you have set to on.
@@TechWithBrettthanks for such a quick reply! Ok that's cool. I would assume then I wouldn't be able to speak to let's say the delivery person, just get notified that he was there?
The notification on the phone is poor imo. Is there any way to let it ring like a chime in your phone? For now it just makes a sound of getting a text message, which can be missed easily. My Ring doorbell app did a clear and loud chime sound when somebody pressed the button. Or am I overlooking something? Brett, we live in an apartment that won't let us drill into the outside of the apartment.... Do you know if the doorbell would work being mounted toa command strip? (I understand how that makes it easier to steal 😅)
Oh good question. Are there extra strength outdoor command strips? Something like that might work as long as you can get the mount to stick on it. The doorbell won't work without the mount so it is what needs to have a strong connection. My worry is it only lasts for a short time and falls and damages the device.

Great review! Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video!! I am a long time Ring customer and I am used to my phone going off a certain way when it rings and w/motion. Does this door bell do this? I got this doorbell yesterday and mine does not swipe like yours does when you showed the % and time the battery would last. Mine only shows the percentage. Is there a way i can check to see if needs an update?
Best video review of the Nest Doorbell! Have you noticed a change in battery usage? I want to get it, but charging every couple of weeks versus months, like my Arlo cameras, would be annoying I think. Thanks for any input!
