In this video, I delve into the nuances of trail shoulder dynamics in golf and its pivotal role in determining the low point of a swing. Drawing from my personal experiences and years of coaching, I showcase specific techniques and drills that can refine shoulder movement in a golfer's swing. With the help of tools like an alignment stick, I highlight the distinction between proper and improper shoulder positions, elucidating how each can alter the ball's trajectory. Moreover, I emphasize the crucial connection between the arm and chest in achieving optimal results.

Yup, this video was for me. All other parts of my swing were pretty good, but my trail arm was stuck behind, preventing me from placing the low point farther forward. Now, with the drill and concept in this video, my trail arm is in a better position to allow the handle to travel past the ball before the release. Golden! Thanks, Trevor!
Thank you! Hope this helps and let me know if you ever need anything!
The only video I have ver watched ( and I have watched hundreds) that explains trail shoulder movement and what actually causes the tilt!
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! Let me know if you ever need anything or have any questions!
Trevor, your golf instruction videos are the BEST on TH-cam. I am glad I found you. Thanks

I really enjoy watching your videos and I think this one will help me a ton. This feel will keep me moving down and forward instead of popping up. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad to hear! Let me know how it goes!

Great stuff Trevor!! I think doing a slight pause at top would manage this well too. It has certainly helped me.

Thank you much! Greatly appreciate it! 👊👊👊
Great lesson again. I’ll be trying this out later ready for tomorrows competition. Many thanks as always ⛳️🏌️♂️👍
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Tremendously good video. My right shoulder has some rotator cuff issues where I have limited ability to externally rotate so I would have trouble getting in a elbow first throwing motion and I would naturally gravitate to a flying elbow over the top motion. After watching this video and the right shoulder movement rotationally it was wow I can get my right arm in front of me without cranking my forearm and elbow backwards in a throwing motion which I can't really do. This feels much more naturally rotating thru impact. I always thought the advice to keep your right shoulder back so you don't come over the top was odd and kind of contrary to rotating your body like you're supposed to hold your right shoulder back but then be slightly open at impact? Your advice is great and works and feels more natural to me, thanks for the great video. I also loved your "How to Manage Tension in Your Golf Swing" video that was a great concept video for me
Thank you so much for the detail in the comment here and feedback! I truly do approve the and completely agree with you about keep the trail shoulder back.
So happy that this has an impact on you and has helped! If you need anything or have any questions, please do let me know!
TS
That’s exactly what I need to work on!

Absolutely love your video!
Thank you! Greatly appreciate it!
Solid video once again! Thank you for the education!
Thank you! Appreciate it! 👊👊
Hey Trevor,
I just want to say you really helped me with my ball striking with irons. My driver needs a lot of work.
Thanks again
Glad to hear! Thanks for sharing! If there is anything I can do video wise for driver, let me know!
Thanks again!

The best video to understand the role of trail arm👍
Appreciate the comment and feedback here! Glad this helps! If you ever need anything, please do let me know!
I think this is going to help me solve my tendency to hit thin shots with long irons where I’m further away from the ball
Love it! Great to hear! Let me know how it goes! 👊👊👊
@@tsgolf yep. Tested it out on the course today with a six iron. Only one thin shot out of 10 balls, all going straight with good distance. Stoked!!
As always OUTSTANDING! Thanks a million.
You got it! Thank you for the feedback!
This has really helped me for my body always hung back and I never understood 😮why and something I didn’t understand before now, so thank you. My other issue has always not taking divots so will have to see if this helps.
So awesome to hear! Glad this is helping! If you ever need anything or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
I love this drill Trevor. I have so much trouble with low point control and impact. Never the same from day to day. Question; when practicing this drill or actually swinging this way, is there a rule of thumb as to where I should position my ball for my sand wedge, 8 iron, 5 hybrid, or 7 wood?
I relate all ball positions off the lead shoulder joint! If you struggle with low point control I’d place the ball position with all irons 1-2 balls back of low point (driver in line with low point).
From here do the drill and emphasize making a divot after the ball. You might pull this at first but the first goal is to gain control of contact!
Hope this helps!
TS
Absolutely love your videos as always
Thank you!!!
Thanks Trevor for the excellent lesson. I really have trouble with low point and hitting behind ball as have I’m it driving right arm. Hope I can get some results with your tips
Let me know how it goes and if you ever have any questions! Always happy to help!
Thanks for the comment and feedback!
TS
Thanks Trevor. Do you do online lessons as definitely in need of help
I love this. Thank you
🙏🙏🙏
Feels like I need to be paying for this content. Great stuff ty
Thank you!!!
Really great swing thought(s) and technical explanation !
Appreciate it! Hope this helps!
Really good explanations here Trevor…. I absolutely struggle with my hands being stuck behind and my trail shoulder internally rotates a lot prematurely. looking to get the hands more in front of the trail thigh at last parallel vs a foot behind with all lag dumped
Exactly!!! I hope this helps and appreciate the comment and feedback! Let me know if you have any questions!!!
I've never had someone explain things exactly in the way I'm looking for. One range session and it's already changing my swing. I video so I can already see it. Not sure if I missed it or not but you were going to explain the out to in path feeling? Thanx a ton!!
Thanks so much for the feedback here! Greatly appreciate it and so glad it helps! What were you referring to with the path video?
Thanks and please let me know if you ever need anything or have questions!

Thanks for the video Trevor.Working on this stuff is tough and takes patience. Just always hope its going to payoff in the end:)

Great explanation thank you.
Thank you! 🙏🙏
Who would have thunk a little stick under the armpit would be such a great visual aid. Never seen that upper arm movement described this way before. I've even seen some instructors claim that it was bad to try and work your trail arm across your chest, but this does make a ton of sense for establishing proper low point in front of the ball. That's something I have forever struggled with. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks before I can try it out because I sprained my left wrist a couple of days ago.
Thanks for the comment and feedback! Greatly appreciate it. I found it a very interesting way to explain how things work rotationally, but they can be related to a straight line. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions.
Really good explanation!
Thank you!!!! I appreciate that! Thanks for the feedback and comment!
Thanks for the great lesson!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the comment!
Another wonderful vid but I have doubts, it seems that I still have tilt wrong after repeating this lesson, but now I feel my right shoulder "coming"
Let me know how I can help! Appreciated the feedback and info here! Keep grinding! 👊👊👊
Nice lesson.
🙏🙏🙏
Alot of great content I am able to practice to improve my swing. Thank You!
Ps. I think you’re pretty cool also!
Thank you much! I appreciate the kind words and so glad this helps you! Let me know if you ever need anything!
TS
Hi .... Chapter 10 was a game changer for me ... thank you ..... aside from your overall message I noted that you did not emphasize the DRIVE DOWN to the front leg which was the best thing about your lesson for me personally ... I have a terrible time with the DOWN and Up sequence
Can you explain why your method is so effective without the standard Pro Video re the Down Dip .... I hate it .... ahahahaha ... thxagain
I am finally hitting down on the ball
Thanks for the feedback and kind words here! Appreciate the feedback!
I am a big believer that how setup the backswing and move the transition is what creates the downward movement we need. Not saying sitting into the ground more helps produce more speed but controlling low point I think is far more important. Having trail side higher than lead side at the top, staying in a down hill feel in transition allows the trail said to drive low point forward and around!
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!
Amazing information like always, Trevor! One thing keeps confusing me is that the “depth” of backswing. Some say no need to be super wide on backswing, others say be wide and create depth, but it’s hard to not letting right arm go up and/or have club head stuck back to the body. Any chance to clarify? Thanks!
What I’ll do is make a video on this topic right here to post on TH-cam. I do believe for a stock model in building symmetry when possible which would be grip handle depth in line with trail heel. It will also depend on height, and arm length as well.
Email me a swing of yours at trevorsalzmangolf@gmail.com
What brand, model, and shaft irons are you using?
I use Titleist MB’s w/ Steelfiber shafts. I think in this vid I’m actually using a Srixon iron though
Nice!
🙏🙏🙏
Does the right arm and the right side provide power and speed in the downswing I've been taught to let the right arm right along and I don't think that's correct what's your comment
The bending and straightening is one of our power accumulators (golfing machine). This arm also helps in providing and maintaining width.
The pronation and supination of the forearm is another power accumulator (this video just helps show you how it can be used and also the relationship of what I call square).
Hope this helps and thanks for the comment and question.
So would trail shoulder hitting the ball be a good feel?
Depends on what that feel looks like in your swing. It helps some people, but for other people causes them to come in over the top.
Not a bad feel trying to get it there
Do you teach Golf Machine??
I’ve read golfing machine and there is a lot of great info in it! I’d say part of my style has some of this in it for sure
You’re being black balled my guy. The Cubs need you.
Not sure what this means honestly…
@@tsgolf sorry commented on the wrong post. I was commenting on Trevor Bauer. I enjoy your content. One of my favorite swings on TH-cam!
