As a child, in the sixties, growing up on a farm in the Dorset countryside, in the UK. Where My mother was a housekeeper. One of the many chores I had, to earn pocket money, was to clean the brass, copper and silver. Every 10-12 weeks. There was a12 seater refectory table in the breakfast room, that would be absolutely full! I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was my domain, my ‘special’ task, everything gathered together, for the polishing and buffing. I did that from the age of 9 until 14 years old, when we moved. You have brought back many memories today! Thank you Kevin. 💚☘️🇮🇪
Hi Kevin! You are so inspiring! Soon I can finally retire and will enjoy taking care of my home, taking care of my plants and garden and cooking, baking, knitting and reading and relearning to play my violin which I have not done in years. Thank you for this channel!
When your new video appears on my screen I stop all my activities on line to watch you!!!! You are a very special, inspiring and inspired soul!!! You're so artistic, simple and careful with absolutely everything!!! My great encouragement and compliments to you and your delicious works in the kitchen, in your parlor, piano room, garden, market and all!!!! ❤💖💚
Even as your videos have evolved into polished mini-films, your warmth and humor and human touch still shine through. Thanks for the wonderful escapism, the kind one CAN accomplish at home!
I also love the zen of ironing. Some people think it's nutty but I enjoy ironing and conversing with someone, watching a fav TV show, or just thinking.
Hey Kevin in a stay at home mom and finally got a break now to watch you. I have 2 daughters doing school online and it’s busy. Watching you brightens my day. Love all your videos.
I love your videos. I just discovered your TH-cam channel in the summer. I've been catching up on your old videos. I always find a new recipe. I've made your cottage pie recipe twice. It's a "keeper".
I couldn’t have been happier than to find your TH-cam Channel. I thought that I was the only person left that appreciated all of the topics that you discuss. IMO! There is an art to Hosting a proper Dinner Party & You Sir are an Artist. Thank you for brightening my day.
There are few things more satisfying than polishing silver until it gleams. I love your videos, especially the trips to Berry Farm and the visits to your glorious gardens. Thanks KLJ for sharing all your recipes and talents with us. You brighten our days.
Kevin glad I found your channel.... I bet that square recipe is very good, I certainly will have to try that one. When I saw you ironing the napkins it made me smile because I believe that is something of the past, however my mother made us iron everything and today, I still iron. I feel like i'm not together if I don't. Enjoyed this video!!
I was having a not so great day when I poppped up on my TH-cam feed... YIPPEE! I use your videos for therapy, to calm my anger and anxiety. Oh, the recipes are great too, and if I ever get a real kitchen, I will be making many of them. THANK YOU for always being the calm to my storms! And THANK YOU Mr. Fox for being the wonderful partner to Kevin. ❤💯
I happen to LOVE ironing and my girlfriends tease me about that. It is solving a wrinkled world on one side and all neatly ironed on the other. If only the world were that easy to settle! Silver is another thing. I do it, but it is a chore. But I promised Nana I would keep her silver tea set all clean and beautiful at all times, so yes, I do it! Good to know I have an ironing pal!
Great video, you are a wonderful and calming person. God Bless You,Mr. Fox,Avery and Lizeth. Everything about your videos gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling❤️🙏🍁❤️
I agree Kevin, I've always loved cleaning silver. Since I was about 12 when my mother on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving asked me to polish all the silver. So self-rewarding & good for the soul. I have such good memories of all the great talks with my mother in the kitchen! I learned so much about life from her...not to mention how to make and roll out pastry for pie & galettes, even pasta -- without using a machine -- simply cutting with a sharp knife. Hers were always perfect and so evenly cut, mine not nearly so! Love you, Kevin.
Although I had a most loving, kind and generous mother I never learned the things your Mom taught you. And besides we didn’t have silver. However, she was great in-the kitchen cooking our favorite foods and always had a variety of aperitifs for our guests who came by often for her specialties. She was also a fabulous decorator !
My therapy so to speak is my vacuum. When I vacuum my house it’s always a good feeling for me. BTW, save those seeds, I love to just scrape off excess squash and toast, yummy like pumpkin seeds. Also for meatless Monday may I suggest quinoa and beans instead of meat? Diane from Center Moriches 😎
I love how encouraging you are! Showing how can also do it. And the mental attitude to tackle cleaning . Your coffee and te service is gorgeous!! The stuffed acorn delicious! Your garden and the trip to the market. I could only imagine waking up to your beautiful gardens!! Thank you Kevin, love all your videos!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Watching your videos is such a treat to me. I can almost taste that lovely squash. Your silver looks sparkling and spectacular after you cleaned it. As always, thanks for sharing.
It makes my heart happy to see you not eating alone. How did you and Lizeth meet? You make a great team. I can't wait to make the Stuffed Squash! I do hope we get you see plant the seeds from your beautiful squash.
I love polishing the silver. I inherited my pieces from my grandmother in 1973. When I was a little girl, I would sit next to her while she was rubbing off the tarnish. She would lean over to me as the tarnish disappeared and whisper in my ear “Magic!” To this day, fifty years later, when I polish her silver to a beautiful gleam, I can still hear her whisper in my heart, “Magic!” ❤
Such a perfect autumnal vlog! Your videos always make me so happy because your voice and demeanor remind me so much of my late father (coincidentally also a Kevin!), it's always a joy to see you enjoying life. :)
I agree with you about polishing silver and ironing. There is something so satisfying about seeing their beauty come to life under your ministrations. 😊
LOVE stuffed squash! I made this, with the green acorn squash, just yesterday. It was wonderful. I,ll try the carnival squash the next time as I love the size for stuffing! Wonderful video as usual Kevin, Thank you.❤❤
You are sunshine on a rainy day. Can't wait to do everything you demonstrated in this video ! Will let you know how cleaning the inside of my silver works out. I so enjoyed the Coronation chicken salad I made after your last video. I even made my own chutney !
Last night I made a few stuffed tromboncino squash. They grow huge and look like a trombone. I made some veggie for my neighbor and then some with Italian sausage and diced pepperoni; they were fantastic as your's here look. I love you used the tops for a lid. You are a breath of fresh air Kevin, from the background music you chose to your endearing smile. ☂☔✨ And a last note, I found the same polish this morning locally, such coincidence and it works much better than the last type I purchased.
I'll have to remember to use an ice cream scoop for squash. I admire your patience with cleaning silverware. I remember helping my grandmother with her cutlery when I was younger. That's when I decided a nice looking set of stainless steel was good for me 😊
Hi Kev😃 You are such a delightful and talented guy. I love all your videos. I feel sure Mr. Fox realizes what a treasure you are❤. Keep the videos coming. Thanks so much.
I feel the same way about ironing cloth napkins and special tea towels. 🥰💛 I think you are just too cute! Love your videos! I feel very honored to have a sweet peek into you and your families lovely home.
I love ironing and find it soothing and organizing both my mind and the things I am ironing. On one side is a mess of wrinkled things to be ironed; on the other side, nicely ironed items. Love it. I do clean my grandmother's silver as a promise to her, but it is not my favorite activity. But I do it.
I say you live in Heaven! Your beautiful home, garden, little dog!! And your state is beautiful! I love it!! The reci6soinds and looks like a winner! I love squash and pumpkins! The farmers market is like a candy store! I could stay there all day!
Dear Kevin it’s so reassuring to see you sharing your delicious meal with someone - I sometimes feel sad to see you sitting alone enjoying your endeavours. I too love cleaning silver and brass and copper - it’s very therapeutic though not a popular pastime with many of my friends! Thank you for your calming and friendly presentations and I really appreciate your detailed information - always a joy to spend time with you. Best wishes from the UK. ☘️🇬🇧🎉🎉🎉🥰
Hi Kevin. I love any type of squash but squash con be expensive per pound in my area. This week small pumpkins, not the tiny ones, were reasonably priced so I bought 6 to decorate my porch for halloween and I will bring indoors and eat during the winter. I will try this recipe with them.
Such a lovely recipe. I often enjoy stuffed acorn squash. Do it a little differently. Cut in half from top to bottom, cook face down about halfway to done. Then I'll stuff and finish baking. Sometimes it's just bread cubes with saluted onions and celery and pecans. Half a squash is enough for me. I agree, ironing is very Zenlike. Remember reading about physical meditation and chores were one way to practice it. Focus on the chore at hand, feel the cloth, smell the warmth from the iron. Hello from sunny and cool Corvallis Oregon.
I love cloth napkins. I make my own so I have quite a collection! They make me happy as I can see yours do so for you. It’s the little things that make simple meals special.
I am diabetic so I will make this using summer squash boats. Thank you for your wonderful videos. Even though I live in a tiny house you show ways I can make it feel elegant. I love your house! I also love my little house. It smells wonderful when I cook your wonderful recipes.
I enjoy so much your videos. I also love every time you go around your garden. It makes me fell with peace and gratitud to see how wonderful is nature with us, Gaia provides us with everything we need. I am going make all your recipes it is something that I will do it. I give you thanks for sharing.
It's great to get ideas for winter squash, a vegetable I always look at admiringly in the store or farmer's market, but feel too intimidated to buy. I hope you will share more winter squash recipes here this fall and I will try to give winter squash a go. 😊
Bonjour ! Toujours un plaisir de vous écouter et vous regarder merci de partager vos recettes et vos explications Une très bonne idée de repas merci Bonne soirée Marcelle
I also enjoy ironing, I actually find it relaxing. I even iron my pillow cases and some of my dish towels. In the fall we do stuffed pumpkins using a French Canadian pork pie recipe. Absolutely delicious.
I will plant some leeks next year. Yours looked absolutely beautiful! They are something I’ve never used before but now I will. May you and Mr. Fox have a wonderful weekend!❤❤❤
What a fun and yummy dinner! Zen attitude is the perfect way to describe ironing or polishing. I’m with you on cloth napkins and silver. I bet I lol and think of you from now on when doing those chores!
Am British, I suppose I could do the same thing with a marrow, the squashes there look amazing, so colourful. I love your silverware, so refined and beautiful.
Thank you for introducing us to that beautiful song. The song that accompany us to the berry farm . Do not know the name but I shall always think of our time together
I have one of the meat breaker uppers(lol) also. Isn’t it great? My mother ironed everything and I have fond memories of going to bed in clean sheets and ironed pillowcases. You live a lovely and elegant life. So enjoyable to watch.
I like your channel, I don't have an extravagant home like you or do parties but I find your videos pleasant and enjoyable to watch, especially your recipes 🙂
I have had butternut squash but not acorn. I definitely need to try your recipe. I like to vacuum both the tops and undersides of rugs in my home. As always, thank you for sharing life there. You always brighten my days💛
Such a wonderful video, Kevin! I love acorn squash but I’ve never seen carnival acorn squash. Beautiful! I love your videos and look forward to them every week!!
Wow. That looks great. I’m vegan. So I think I’ll make mine with TVP. I never really knew how to cook those acorn type squashes before except to cube them for soups. Thanks for this recipe. 😃
I love your gardens. They are so un-fussy and classic in style. I know you propagated the boxwoods. Do you have photos of the property as it was when you purchased it? Hi Kevin, I iron my cloth napkins as well, I find it relaxing. I spray them with Rose Water giving the napkins a sweet scent.
What a nice idea! I always iron my napkins as well, but rose water will take it up a notch! Thank you!
Yes, the fragrance is very light, not perfumy. I think it's a nice touch to any table. Thank you
what a great idea!
Thx you much and do you make your rose water? Thx you much for sharing!
