Glad to hear you’re having a great time with Switch Axe!! I wish I could be a master of this weapon. But I settle for being above average and doing the best I can! I hope you continue to find success in your hunts
yo this keep this shit up man ur a beast. i only recently got the game and chose switch axe as my first weapon and its hard to find simple, thorough, and well explained videos especially on a less common weapon. i just watched your nergigante positioning guide and that video was super well made as well. for most of my time through iceborne ive been a big fan of temporal zsd spam but watching you makes me really understand the potential damage output the weapon has. but yea im so happy i was recommended ur videos. i appreciate the content you are pushing, it is a HUGE help to players like me trying to learn and become better with switch axe ❤
Thank you very much for the kind words, it’s comments like these that make me want to continue making more content! For a first weapon yeah Switch Axe must have been a just mess to deal with. And yeah a lot of people find the ZSD spam play-style very enjoyable. It became even more popular with the Fatalis armour giving lots of damage skills and unlocking tool specialist secret for incredibly high Rocksteady//Temporal Mantle uptime. It’s also just hard for Switch Axe grounded combos to compare to ZSD spam since the damage potential and how spammable the move is. But it is always good to know how to play the weapon when your mantles are not readily available to you! I hope my videos continue to help you in future!

As a switch axe main it’s sick that an expert can break it down to such an amazing degree. Great job and I’m ecstatic to see another video from you. Also do you have a patrion?
This is such a good guide for swaxe! I've been using it for a while now but my playstyle is kinda unga bunga so I rarely get to use the rising slash and fade slash. I gotta incorporate them to my hunts more 😅
As someone who loves mobile and responsive weapons (lance and glaive) this really cleared up how to approach the fight without getting slapped all the time with switch axe
Super fantastic guide, very thorough! When you talk about ZSD, you mentioned being able to let go early, but maybe add a little note about how letting go early reduces your end lag and lets you fight sooner than a full one?
@@x3no941 Nah, it's more than that. If you ride out the entire ZSD, when it explodes you will be put into a fairly lengthy recovery animation where you pick yourself back up off the ground and switch to Axe mode. If you let go early, before the final explosion, then you will hop back off with only a very small recovery animation and remain in sword mode.
I basically played through all of base World and Iceborne again on a new character relearning Switch Axe. It's nice to watch something like this so I can have more of an understanding of what the hell I was even doing. I wasn't even aware different weapon moves had part break modifiers on them, and I think I've been doing the second highest damage combo this entire time instead of that other one you mentioned.
This video is fantastic if you want to get to know or get better with Switch Axe. I main kinsect glaive but wanted to pick up a main heavy weapon as well. I had no idea what I was getting into with switch axe and it’s depth. This video is easily one of the top two videos I’ve seen that are actually helpful. I really appreciate it. Thank you. I’ve already improved noticeably if not drastically as a direct result of this video.
I just realized the other best switch axe video I was referring to is also yours. It’s the one you narrate against Nergigante. Subscribed. Thanks again.
@@damiansutube well I am certainly glad I was able to help in any way possible! I am happy to hear that you have been improving and hope you keep at it! More content to come soon enough!
Also, the average motion value of wild swings isn’t that much worse than the wild morph combo. It’s maybe 14% worse, but that difference goes away if you whiff any of the wild combo hits (including the sword hit at the end), and the difference further narrows if you end with a heavy slam.
You are totally correct on this one. I probably should’ve covered that in the video. I made my opinion on Wild under the assumption that it was the sole move in purpose. But you are right, a few wild swings into Heavy Slam is comparable damage to the Wild Morph combo.
Also, you can actually cancel out of wild swings by executing a slinger burst, which will also propel you backwards a not insignificant distance. It's a more viable move than a lot of people give it credit for.
I Love the upgrade they did in rise where the switch axe can do its morph attacks without doing any attacks first. Always trips me up going from rise to world, get used to rapid morph in rise but starting it in world just makes me do that slow morph animation without any attack. Hope they keep it in Wilds what they did with that in rise.
The morph change they did in Rise was one of the best things for this weapon for sure! There is a mod on nexus mods that fixes the issue if that’s something that you’re looking for
I’m glad you find this helpful. I know I forgot some stuff to mention about the Switch Axe but my follow up video definitely covers some of the things I missed out
thanks rly good guide needed it was struggling with all the mis information about this weapon amped and power mode / optimal dps combos but hearing it from you confirms it for me now
Due to some comments, I myself have found out that some of the information in this video is misinformed. So I will be making a follow up video within a few days. However, hopefully this guide still helped you!
4:20 correction from a power axe enthusiast, you can also use this move from wild swing, which expands its use dramatically. Seriously, try it out, just start a wild swing then attack, it comes out fast as hell. The only problem comes with how committal wild swing is, but this can be remedied by carrying slinger ammo. This maneuver is incredibly useful when you have an opportunity for more than just a rising slash or rs + fade slash, but not enough of an opening for a yolo wild morph, as it's swaxe's most powerful poke for how fast it is.
I am aware of the Wild Swing Overhead combo… in fact, I use it quite often. Which is why I am very astonished as to how I failed to bring it up at all! Thank you for bringing it up you are 1000% correct. Idk how I failed to mention it.
Thanks for this guide. I've just picked up Swaxe and having fun but noticed I get smacked around a lot so wanted to find out if I'm doing something wrong. It's interesting that power prolonger is a recommended skill because I've rarely seen this in any of the builds, its all peak perf and just amping up as much damage modifier as possible so it's great to see a much more balanced take. :)
As a guy who mains SnS and Longsword, using switchaxe is super fun! Granted, I dont know how to use it properly but so far I took it out on 6 hunts and it feels amazing, like having a hammer and GS all rolled into one. Cant wait to watch this vid so I can get a proper handle on it just to beat some more monster ass😊
Went from being a GS main, but then I wind up moving into a GL and now looking into SA. Once I get some decent switch axes, I’ll go into some hunts and start getting a better feel on how to play it.

I was messing about with slinger capactiy for the double wallbang mainly when i tried SnS as I was duo with a mate. However, at 1:00 I had never considered using the window like that. Game changer
@@ray6149 Can Confirm SwitchAxe is a lot of fun, although there is a bit of a learning curve to it. Definitely worth any time investment into it though 👍 10/10 recommend
You can also use Slinger burst to reorient yourself when the monster is moving around. Swaxe is just a fun weapon to play overall, like Charge blade once you figure it out, it becomes pure dopamine release lol. And Swaxe is my main weapon in Sunbreak, it's even more fun there, especially that juicy Burst counter.. I hope they bring some form of that back in Wilds as a Focus mode move.
Thank you for the Feedback. I will look to do better in my next video. It's embarassing to say that I unfortunately have to do a lot of my recordings at VERY early morning times on my weekends off or else too much noise will get caught in the background, so I try to be quite for my roommate and landlord. But I will try my best to improve the quality for future videos
Power Axe mode doesn’t give a flat 30% increase to partbreak modifiers. The amount it increases it by depends on the attack (like forward vs side slash), averaging between attacks at around +27%.
And here I am thinking I did good enough research on my own weapon 🙄 clearly I am mis-informed. I’ve already missed out multiple things in This video, so I will likely be doing a short follow up video explaining my misinformation and things I left out. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention
@@Scrillix No problem. I got that information from an old Jinjinx and Tuna video on the Switch Axe, if I recall. There’s also an *extremely* detailed spreadsheet floating around on the internet detailing the exact motion values and other numbers for every attack in the game, including the specific changes to each attack from Power Axe mode. Broadly speaking from memory, the pattern is that attacks that you would intuitively expect to partbreak (like the overhead slash) get *more* increased partbreak than tiny stuff like the side slash, so they become even more important for breaking parts. I could be wrong, though, as I’m just going off memory.
@@Groudon466 I have found the spreadsheet in question since first responding and I intend to right the wrongs in my video! Thank you! I remember watching Jin Jinx and Tuna all the time as well. It was JinJinx who first got me into SA as well
"I'll try to keep everything as quick as simple as I can." You over explaining EVERYTHING from the very first minute of the video begs to differ 😂 Great walkthrough though. I couldn't figure out how the charge gauge works and I already use the LS, the GS, the DBs, and the normal Bow and Arrows. I learned all of those pretty quickly but the Switch Axe can be pretty confusing lol
Yeah you got me on that one 😂 but there is just so much to talk about with Switch Axe I can’t help but ramble on about everything it can do! Haha Yeah unfortunately the Switch Ace gauge system can be pretty unintuitive. Thus feeling clunky and lack lustre. I’m glad you enjoyed the walk through however 😁
Nice guide, but I was hoping to find something about the phials the weapon is using. Also, no mention of the fact that if you use sword too log and try to pull it out again, you will do a slow and clunky reload animation to charge up the sword mode.
Thank you for the guide the part break information was good to know. I'm curious about slinger burst attacks (something you missed) and if it can be used to combo into heavy slam in anyway or charge your amped state. Because like you I dislike wild swing.
I did make a follow up video and that mentions slinger burst. But there is no short cut to amping axe or sword or shortcut into heavy slam. You CAN go into Wild swing from slinger burst however. There is also more Partbreak stuff in that video because I misspoke and gave misinformation in this video and the follow up video corrects that
Nice guide! However I think you should mention that you can slinger burst after all axe attacks with sligner burst, including wild swings which will stop the animation and move you back a lot, which negates the issue of its commitement.
I’m not going to lie, I had footage and everything for that recorded and everything and I totally just skimmed over it whilst I was making the video. Definitely my mistake on that. Thank you for bringing that up. I might make a short follow up video explaining that thank you very much
@@Scrillix that would be nice! Defense, big sword animation commitment and lack evasion in base game is what made me switch (pun not intended) from switchaxe. Now I play most weapons but SwitchAxe just because of that. I really liked SA in Rise though. Anyway - I think that Iceborne improved SA situation a lot aith making axe relevant and adding slinger burst movestes. I realized that recently and Im trying it again in endgame.
@@johnthicc306 this is because it signals your palico to stop whatever they are doing and come to you. Your sword passing through things like corpses, endemic life (like bitter/flash bugs, other players and phial ticks will trigger an additional proc of the amped sword phial ticks. Unless you are fishing for a para or sleep. This extra damage through out the hunt will significantly outdo anything your palico can do. That is of course unless you are using them for a very specific purpose otherwise and even then, usually gets overshadowed by this damage
As a switch axe main since 3U i appreciate this. World was the weakest its felt for me in awhile though, to the point I actually enjoyed hammer and greatsword more. Rise got me back to the swag axe though. I just did not like the ZSD spam style Please for the love of god put evade extender on your sets people. Its such good quality of life, lets you keep up without constantly sheathing and clear straight out of hitboxes easily. Allows you to be hyperaggressive with good uptimes.
I believe I mentioned putting on some evade extender near the end of my video. I Love evade extender on SA even though I don’t personally use it anymore, as I find using Evade window 3-5 is enough to stand your ground with hops etc. Both allow for more aggressive gameplay. Almost a must have for monster like Rajang IMO
@@mattbell888 from my understanding in MhRise, they increased the distance given per point of Evade Extender. As for world, you should use however many points you feel comfortable using. I personally would settle with 2, but if you feel you might want 3 then it is fine to do so. Remember that you should adapt your build on a monster to monster basis
As someone who decided to switch frob DB to swaxe right after Velkhana because he got bored I can tell you: so far it's been really painful, but I'd lie if I said I'm not enjoying it.

After never having defeated Anjanath and dropping the game years ago, I came back to start from 0 and went back to the Switch Axe. Amazing tutorial! A lot of nuances or combos I never knew were actually a thing or I might have done on accident. A question I had though: I do not own Iceborn yet, does the game also have the power axe mode in it, or is it only active once you acquire Iceborn? I've never seen it, or maybe I've never ever hit the Heavy slam ever.
Unfortunately Power Axe mode came from Iceborne so you will not be able to access it or any clutch claw attacks// moves unless you have it. I am glad you have Monster Hunter a second chance though and I hope you continue to enjoy it going forward :)
The switch axe is the 3rd weapon where im interested to master along with my beloved gunlance and the heavy crossbow, the only thing who i dont enjoy is the feel about the sharp down so fast
great vid, thanks for the guide. Is looking for ZSD openings when your sword is fully amped, the most 'optimal' way to play the weapon in terms of dmg ceiling?
I think that is a difficult question to answer. But I will do my best to give one: ZSD is definitely one of the weapons HIGHEST DPS options. It’s hard to NOT get tempted to want to just throw on a Temporal or Rocksteady mantle and just press Pew Pew. However, grounded Sword combos are also very strong as well. And axe combos are also very hefty as well which make for more sword openings on trips and flinches. I think recognizing openings to were you CAN ZSD is important. Because again, any spot you can ZSD is huge increase in damage, but it is also important to know how to play the weapon when either A) your mantles are down or B) when there are no ZSD openings given to you. Therefore; a combination of everything will give you the best results :) TLDR: if you wanna go fast, put mantles on, ZSD spam, sword combos on openings, end sword combos with ZSD so that the Finisher hits the monster when it’s back off the ground :)
This video was for sure informative for me, reallyyy good video! But i still have a Question, when do you decide to use sword and axe? do you use axe to flinch and when mosnter's flinch or trip you change to sword?
So for me, it varies monster to monster. But as a general consensus, I would say yes, use axe mode for flinches, and then change to sword when a monster is downed.
In the top right if your screen, there is a button guide, and there should be a button that tells you to claw attack. This attack looks like a swipe attack with you clutch claw. If you do not have Iceborne, you will NOT be able to do this. And yes, shooting a monster into the wall will consume slinger ammo
That is a good question, and the answer is that it isn’t actually possible. That footage contained gameplay of me using a Mod that got rid of that clunkiness to resemble the switch axe morphing illustrated in MH Rise. I am making a follow up video about somethings I left out of the video//forgot, and I will point this out right away in case there is any other confusion. It was my fault for including footage containing impossible gameplay. My apologies
@@G.I_Jane Alatreon is one of those monsters that truly has a good Match Up for every weapon (aside from Hammer that I am aware of) truly a hunt of skill and weapon mastery! Probably one of, if not my favourite hunts to do in all of MHW:IB for sure

The Phial skin mod is indeed the “Rose Style” switch axe mod! It’s one of my favourite seeing as how the colour of the blade changes based on the Phial type in use! You can find it here: www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/4713
I think that skin basically got me into Switchaxe my friend. I never picked it up in all my years of MonHun till today because of that skin. Goddamn coloured flaming swords? Count me in@@Scrillix
So ive been learning switchaxe the last few days. One thing I keep getting that feels awkward is after something like wild morph im standing with my target to my back. I swear I saw somewhere that theres a way to turn 180 with an attack but I didnt pay close attention and cant find that clip anywhere. I want to say it involved slinger perhaps? If thats not a thing, what do you do when your stuck with target behind you mid combo?
@@joeleeman9886 so if you Wild Morph and over shoot your target, I should then morph from Sword mode Back to axe mode by holding back and morphing to do the retreating Axe morph. If you are still in axe mode, after most attacks, you can just use slinger burst in 360 degrees to turn yourself around and continue attacking. If you watch my follow up video to this guide, I do believe I explain it a few minutes in. Hope this helps you man.
A question, eith the slinger burst you can evade certain attacks, in the future you will explain certain combos (some switch or some items that help more the weapon) and slinger attacks/evades?
The Switch Axe I am using is called the Medousa Switch Axe and it is made by the modder: CURSED ODIN. The flame effect however is a separate mod called: Rose Style Switch Axe. This mod comes with a moveset overhaul, but the effects can be downloaded separately.
There is a mod for the charged Phial effect. It can be found on Nexus Mods under the name ROSE-STYLE switch axe. You can download the effects separate from the balance changes the mod gives. Hope this helps :)
Hit monster with sword -> put sword in Shield -> hit monster with Sword -> put sword in in shield -> pull out pizza cutter -> go brrrrr 😂 I kid I kid, charge blade is complex, and while I do play it, there are far more expert CB players with more knowledge of the weapon than me that could help you
That would be the Medousa Switch Axe mod by CURSEDODIN. One of my favourite layered weapon mods. It goes over top of the Shreiking Legiana or Regular Legiana layered weapon. You can find it here: www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/3580/
I think CB might be a bit harder to grasp at first since the entry barrier to charging all parts of it or some parts of it might overwhelm some players. But I agree in saying I think Switch Axe is more difficult overall in higher investments of time
No, I am manually inputting towards the Pillar and delaying my swing for a micro second. No camera settings are needed for this. Just delay the swing by a micro second
@@Easton959 the flaming visuals come from the Mod on Nexus mods called the “Rose Style SwitchAxe” the mod itself is a new weapon overhaul, but you are able to take JUST the visual effects of you want and not the weapon rework.

Hi if i remember correctly you did a follow up video to this, correcting some minor details about the weapon. Can you pin a comment to inform people of that follow up video and what it is about? Would be amazing for new comers to spot it in the pinned comment and watch that video, too.
Good video, but isn't it false that ALL axe attacks get a 1.3 part break modifier? according to the motion value google doc some of them have 1.1 modifiers like forward slash for example
My standard set isn’t anything too fancy. It’s 4 piece Fatalis and I’m personally using AT Velkhana Legs. Other than that, it had all the crit skills and power Prolonger, plus Peak performance, 2 points of Handicraft and flinch free, and 7 points of attack. The 7th point being a flexible point to go attack 6 and 1 point of stonethrower/blight resistance/fortify if needed Although my set is super deco expensive.
Switch axe is amazing and very very hard... I could pickup any other weapon much fsater and easier than this one. Currently sitting at around 300 hours of SWAX. However I feel like is not as "flashy" as other weapons. There are very few montages online...
@@0xc0ffee_ I feel the “flashiness” of the Switch Axe comes from how skillful someone can truly man handle a monster with just proper Morphing and positioning. Something that is way more noticed and appreciated from more skilled hunters for sure. A very gratifying weapon to master for sure, but I agree, the flashy combos are not there really
Thank you for the kind words and feedback. I have gotten this comment before. Unfortunately the time I have available to record things are around 2-5 in the morning, but I will be addressing this in later videos
You’re going to have to be a bit more specific on what is or isn’t happening for me to help. After the 2 or more wild swings, what is exactly happening when you go to do heavy slam?
Or you can be like me and simply never learn the monster moves and get hit by nearly everything! The only thing I punish is myself, and anyone else that decided to tag along :P

@@jones77-l3d you can hop after every sword mode attack or most axe mode attacks. But rolling backwards or forwards after axe attacks will result in normal rolling/dodging :)
I want to like it I really do but it just doesn't feel good. I have to use certain skills or rocksteady and temporal. Abuse zsd, trip play, or know the monsters moves in and out but that applies to literally every weapon. Yes it has high skill ceiling but that doesn't even matter compared to other weapons. It just doesn't compete and I don't understand why it doesn't do a whole lot more damage given it's easily the most defenseless melee weapon in the game. It has a high skill ceiling but it's hard to convince myself to use it when I can put 40% of the effort into long sword and do much more with ease. I hope they fix this weapon in wilds and give new combos and more movement with the weapon and give humongous amounts of damage to it because it's not fair with how much baby sitting sns and long sword got.
You will only get the “power axe” buff if you fully commit and land or whiff a Heavy Slam move. It’s not just 2 or more wild swings if that is what you were doing. It is also possible to ALMOST finish the heavy slam animation and get hit out of it. If you try to go into heavy slam too fast from 2 wild swings, you will just get overhead smash. Let me know if any of this helps!
I found you tutorial because I was struggling with the SA, and honestly, I might just drop it. It seems that unless you have perfect knowledge of all the attack tells for all the monsters, it's just not wrth it. You just feel like a sitting duck before even switching to sword mode
So sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately the SA does end up feeling like that a lot of the time. What I would recommend is playing a lot of Axe Mode and maybe some ZSD spam if that’s something your into. Or you could even just drop the weapon and come back at a later time. Sometimes playing other weapons can help you learn monster match ups in a different perspective which could help you play SA later down the line

Again, another oversight from my haste to release the video. You are right, it should have been mentioned, my apologies
Wouldn’t that be implied ? If you let go early you can fight sooner obviously lmao
@@Jesentra ohh I see definitely should’ve been mentioned in the video as that could easily be the difference between life and death
@@AysaMetric I did bring this up in my follow up video to this guide addressing some things that I overlooked
Lance main now and forever. But this video got me feeling ways.
Love me some Lance too man
Been a GS/HH main for a very long time so this video really helped me get into a weapon that requires more than 3 braincells, thanks!

Thanks man! Now I want to play Switch Axe in World again! Going to practice that grounded DPS combo.
As a guy who mains SnS and Longsword, using switchaxe is super fun! Granted, I dont know how to use it properly but so far I took it out on 6 hunts and it feels amazing, like having a hammer and GS all rolled into one. Yo bro, thank you for the detailed guide.
Just a feedback.. your mic's volume is too low
Great video, my only hope is the counter from Rise makes some type of return in Wilds. Also, that switch axe layered mod looks sick, what is it?
First day of Switch Axe here, let's see if I like the weapon; so far, it feels pretty good!
Great vid! Interesting and informative ❤
It was JinJinx who first got me into SA as well
"I'll try to keep everything as quick as simple as I can."
You over explaining EVERYTHING from the very first minute of the video begs to differ 😂
Great walkthrough though.
Haha
Yeah unfortunately the Switch Ace gauge system can be pretty unintuitive. Thus feeling clunky and lack lustre. I’m glad you enjoyed the walk through however 😁
Awesome guide! Thank you so much!
There is also more Partbreak stuff in that video because I misspoke and gave misinformation in this video and the follow up video corrects that
Hows the first weapon skin called and whats with this fire when swax is an super charge mode? You use some mods?
After hours on hours on Gs, CB, gl i find Switch axe a good world of all together.
Switch axe really does have a good mix of everything. It’s why I can’t put the weapon down ever :)
Thanks for the video, I’m not trying the switch axe :)
That’s totally fair and valid.
Nice guide, wondering why you spam the signal shortcut during ZSD at 1:47?
@@johnthicc306 this is because it signals your palico to stop whatever they are doing and come to you. Your sword passing through things like corpses, endemic life (like bitter/flash bugs, other players and phial ticks will trigger an additional proc of the amped sword phial ticks.
Unless you are fishing for a para or sleep. This extra damage through out the hunt will significantly outdo anything your palico can do. That is of course unless you are using them for a very specific purpose otherwise and even then, usually gets overshadowed by this damage
Great and informative guide! Whats the visual mod you are using for the amped mode? Reminds me of yhe old school visuals
The mod is called “Rose Style” switch axe mod! You can find it here: www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/4713
As a switch axe main since 3U i appreciate this. World was the weakest its felt for me in awhile though, to the point I actually enjoyed hammer and greatsword more. Rise got me back to the swag axe though. I just did not like the ZSD spam style
Please for the love of god put evade extender on your sets people.
@@Scrillix rajang without evasion skills = pain lol
Is evade extender 2 good, or should I go for ee3? I started in rise and ee3 in that game is straight up too much, it's a lot harder to position.
@@mattbell888 like he said some monsters need 3 some need 2. Depends on what it takes for you to keep up with them and clear out of hitboxes.
I picked Switch Axe today, and all i know is charge the sword, clutch claw, and proceed to BRRRR
But I will do my best to give one:
ZSD is definitely one of the weapons HIGHEST DPS options.
Therefore; a combination of everything will give you the best results :)
TLDR: if you wanna go fast, put mantles on, ZSD spam, sword combos on openings, end sword combos with ZSD so that the Finisher hits the monster when it’s back off the ground :)
Love you c:@@Scrillix
Hello, can i ask how u done the "slap the monster agitator" in min 18:12 when climbing into the monster? did u use ur slinger to ram the monster?
In the top right if your screen, there is a button guide, and there should be a button that tells you to claw attack. This attack looks like a swipe attack with you clutch claw. If you do not have Iceborne, you will NOT be able to do this. And yes, shooting a monster into the wall will consume slinger ammo
For this game i use great sword when learning a monster switch axe when i want to master a monster since i have to learn the move set in more detail
Thanks for the nice guide. How did you switch directly to sword mod at 19:05 without prior axe attack?
That is a good question, and the answer is that it isn’t actually possible. That footage contained gameplay of me using a Mod that got rid of that clunkiness to resemble the switch axe morphing illustrated in MH Rise.
I am making a follow up video about somethings I left out of the video//forgot, and I will point this out right away in case there is any other confusion. It was my fault for including footage containing impossible gameplay. My apologies

I swear I saw somewhere that theres a way to turn 180 with an attack but I didnt pay close attention and cant find that clip anywhere. I want to say it involved slinger perhaps?
I know that slinger burst during Wild Swing acts as a hard disengage, but I can expand on slinger burst in another video to come soon

I think CB might be a bit harder to grasp at first since the entry barrier to charging all parts of it or some parts of it might overwhelm some players. But I agree in saying I think Switch Axe is more difficult overall in higher investments of time

Strange, the axe power up combo does not power up the axe for me. No glowing aura after 2 or more hits.
You will only get the “power axe” buff if you fully commit and land or whiff a Heavy Slam move. It’s not just 2 or more wild swings if that is what you were doing.
