    QIDI TECH i Mate S 3D Printer, All Metal Frame and Fully Closed Structure, with 0.2mm Precision Extruder
    Excellent industrial design, high-end manufacturing, it can be used out of the box. We adhere to high-standard production, strict process requirements, full mold design of the whole 3d printer, it is safer. Both closed printing and ventilated printing can be done on this 3d printer .
    When printing ABS and other filament which need to be closed printing, the printing effect is better. Really out of the box, open the package, take out the complete 3d printer directly without any tedious assembly.
    Outstanding industrial structure. QIDI Technology has always adhered to the use of high-end industrial-grade FDM structure. The printing principle is different from theDIY structure. When printing large models, it is more stable and more accurate! The print size is 260×200×200, which can basically meet the daily printing needs
    Unique extruder and special printing platform. QIDI's newly developed extruder, with a nozzle of 0.2mm,it can print the surface of the model more delicately, with an accuracy higher than that of the 0.4mm nozzle.The i mates 3d printer will be equipped with one set of 0.4 mm extruder and one set of 0.2mm extruder.
    Excellent user experience, friendly UI interface.It’s equipped with self-developed QIDI slicing software, two modes can be selected: normal mode and expert mode. The normal mode is suitable for novices, the parameter system has been intelligently set, no other operations are required, it is very simple.
    Expert mode is suitable for experienced users, who can deeply participate in modifying parameters and personalized printing models.
    Silent printing. A break point can be saved and the printing can be continued later. If power outage is occurred during the printing process, the printer will automatically save the break point.
    1.The overall metal frame and the printing platform are different from the DIY assembly structure.Print with large-size model, it will be more accurate and not shaken.The platform is more stable.
    2.Printing Size 260x 200 x200mm
    3.Besides the 0.4mm extruder ,the i mates 3d printer adopt the 0.2mm extruder which makes the printing details better.
    4. The silent mainboard adopts TMC2209 driver chip. The sound of operation is low to 50 decibels. Save power, protect your ears and not interfere with your family and life.
    5.Magnetic printing platform is equipped with 9 pieces of special high temperature magnets and a special metal panel. After printing, you can easily move the platform panel and take off the model by bending the panel. This innovation is well welcomed by users.

    Mine arrived this morning. Much heavier than I thought it would be. And it no longer comes with a full extruder - just a hot head for 0.2mm.
    Only done a couple of prints but its fab.

    +1 for the qidi PEI bed material. I recommend THEIR bed stickers to anyone with adhesion issues.
    They ship some rock solid machinery. I have fed my qidi x-one² over 12kg (mostly ABS) and i haven't had a single print fail that was the fault of the machine. I havent had issues with skipped steps, thermal runaway, clogged extruders, or bugs in firmware.

    I have 4 sitting next to me, and a few other qidi printers next to those. If you're looking into this as a cheap enclosed printer, you can buy a high temp extruder from Qidi tech for $100 to print nylons or PCs. So $550 total for a printer that can do nylon/pc nearly out of the box really is amazing.

    FYI: default retraction in Qidi Print is 1.5 mm and retraction speed is 30 mm/s for Qidi I-Mate S (PLA).

  • @MrButuz

    If you email the QIDI address on your printer they will send you the CURA profile for their printers, then when you click add new printer it comes up with QIDI as the manufacturer, and open that and it has X-Maker I-mate X-PLus X-max etc you can select your exact printer and all the settings are right - much better for a beginner, than using an ender profile and having some settings very wrong (like retraction etc).

    Should mention too that you get a solid printer, fully enclosed for running ABS for $420. Not sure but the second extruder could possibly be modified with a hot end making it capable of running Nylon/Carbon Fiber.

    Pronounced Chee Dee.
    In traditional Chinese culture, qi or ch'i or ki is believed to be a vital force forming part of any living entity. Qi translates literally as "air" and figuratively as "material energy", "life force", or "energy flow". Qi is the central underlying principle in Chinese traditional medicine and in Chinese martial arts.

    So I got my first clog and it was a bugger to fix. Im sure the extruder is off the shelf but so many screws. And taking it to bits was awful. Still like the iMateS but unclogging should be easier.
    My other complaint is the build plate is very weak and tears easily. I have had to buy new ones.
    I complained to Qidi and they say there is a new plate - costs more.

    I would like to see its ability to print ASA and PETG, ABS as this is the only reason I would buy this printer, is that nozzle a proprietary design? what temperature can the enclosure maintain? If I did buy this printer it would be on the understanding that I can upgrade the hotend to one that can reach 300 to 350C and be able to pump out plastic in a comparable way to a volcano

  • @Tilten
    @Tilten 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’ve actually ordered a Qidi I-Mate S and read/watched quite a few reviews. Some say the you should use a gluestick on the bed to prevent the prints to stick too well. I-Mate use the same extruder as the Qidi X-plus and some say that you can install a X-plus high-temp extruder (about $80) and print materials like nylon. But be aware that at the moment, Qidi Sales says that it is not supported. Great review Vlad, as always!

    What's the benefit to printers that lift the build plate up to print like this?

    • @BetaSeven
      @BetaSeven 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was gonna write a comment about the difference between cartesian and corexy printers, but i just noticed this printer isn't a true corexy (those ones use 3 motors that are fixed), so i guess the only benefit of this is that you don't need horizontal space for the bed moving. Instead you need vertical space (much easier to have).

    • @kghhgkgk6322
      @kghhgkgk6322 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BetaSeven that's a good point. A big downside seems to be that if the print fails early on, it would be pretty hard to tell on this kind of printer

    So here is my very short review of the iMateS:
    1) an excellent printer that delivers very crisp prints.
    2) very easy to setup and get printing.
    3) the software provided is poor. V6.2.2 is useless and wifi printing does not work. 6.2.1 is much better and wifi print works. They need to fix 6.2.2. The slicer is good and I believe based on Cura.
    4) is it worth the money? I paid £409 in the UK. It is worth every penny.
    5) Should you buy? The helpdesk solved my wifi printing issue and they are quite quick to respond. They simply said go back to a previous software version.
    6) Tomorrow I will try ABS - be interesting to see how that goes. PLA printing is brilliant
    7) I have had several printers. This is by far the best.

    DO NOT BUY! If anything goes wrong (like a filament jam) you will not be able to fix it. The assembly is designed to make it nearly impossible for user repair. The screws they use are cheap and will strip out, making it impossible to get at the problem. Everything is so intricately designed once you take something apart (like the belt holder) you can't put it back together. This is a nightmare waiting to happen. DO NOT BUY!
