    I consider tinning wire to be a better solution than crimping, provided that it is tinned properly and fully.

    Maybe you can help, I love my i-mate but technical support is so so. After I send desired print to the print the temp of the hotend doesn't heat. Just shows temp 40/0. I have to manually set it on the printer. And then its fine. Not a big issue but would be nice to send and forget.

    Good printers, this is an excellent starter printer, great out of box experience, and even better with some after market mods like the Icarus 2 extruder with LGX Lite and a Dragon hot-end.

    Rui I believe the second extruder is a high temp one. At least as of a few weeks ago anyway. I confirmed this with their Canadian agents the other day. I'm going to get one of the higher-end models. The reviews for their customer service are glowing as well. Great video my man as always

    Wouldn't it be possible to change the hot end on the spare one to all-metal for abrasive filament capability? Also, does someone kmow if this work with Octoprint?

    • @NexGen-3D
      @NexGen-3D ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use Octoprint, the is RX/TX pins on the stock board, you can also flash with Klipper as well, and in regards to the hotend, you can Install the Icarus hotend system instead of messing about with OEM MK10 style unit, the Icarus platform will allow you to use nearly any popular hotend with any popular extruder, if you look at my videos you can see the Icarus setup.

    @ruiraptor Which mid range (£800 avg), core xy, enclosed printer do u recommend?

    • @ruiraptor
      @ruiraptor  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, for that price range, the Bambu Lab P1S or the X1C is a great choice.

    It looks like a chitu based board?
    Is this correct?

    • @NexGen-3D
      @NexGen-3D 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is, all the Qidi-Tech's run these, you can get clipper on most of them, not sure about the I-Mate series.

    Hi watched your video and decided to purchase excited at its arrival and unpacked to find that qiditech now only supply the heat rake and hot end no fans board or extruder gisgusting practices of a company trying to save money charge the same price and omit parts with no notification buyers be aware as it’s not a simple job swapping for the 0.2 print plus you have no spares anymore and things need to cool now not impressed sending it back

    I got one of these, just over 1 year old and hasn't printed more than about 60 hours, to be honest not a big fan, its making a horrible noise on the Y-axis like a sqealing vibrating noise, tried everything, even had it to bits as I am a mechanical engineer, designer and CNC machinist, stepper seems fine, tested it with a seperate controller and under load, bearings are all good, no screws loose.
    TBH i will salvage it for parts and buy a more expensive and decent 3D printer, this is typical cheap chinese parts and assembled rubbish in my opinion, and not as simple to level as they say, mine always gave an uneven print, even when I used a dial indicator to level it, maybe I got a Friday build, but from now on I am staying as far away from any i-mates printers as possible.
    One last moan, I have also experienced a lot of failed prints due to the code the slicer spits out, especially if you set the print thickness to 0.1mm, it inserts bad code and the print errors out at any time before it finishes, I do understand the code as I am also a CNC programmer, my STL files from the CAD are watertight, this is a bug in the Quidi software.
