    Vanicream has been a Godsend for me. Their vitamin c serum is the only one on the market that is free from all ingredients that I'm allergic to. Their shampoo is one of the very few that I can use, same with their gentle face wash and z bar. I have allergic dermatitis, a laundry list of allergens, eczema and psoriasis. I'm glad that they formulate products for people like me!

    I’ve been using this for 2 weeks so far and really like it! I like this over their daily facial moisturizer because it doesn’t have hyaluronic acid in it. No hyaluronic acid, no niacinamide but has ceramides and glycerin make it a win for me and my sensitive, dry skin with rosacea. It’s been a nice boost of extra moisture at least and has worked well under their moisturizing cream and with my azelaic acid.

    • @allovertheshopmum
      @allovertheshopmum ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey there -- I am curious why you said its a win not having hyaluronic acid? i also have rosascea but also extremely senstve skin and ive been trying to figure out why my skin is being irritated by just about every cream other than vanicream --- i know niacinimide does -- but didn't know Hyaluronic acid may also? -- this would make sense (since even some of my hydroboost with hylauronic acid stings, but never figured it would be an irritant.

    • @KF-vk9oc
      @KF-vk9oc ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@allovertheshopmum Most people have no problem with it but for some, like me, it makes my face feel tight and triggers a rosacea flare up. Even when applied to damp skin and even if it’s in a moisturizer like cerave it still causes me issues. I’ve just found my skin to be less red and irritated when I stay away from it!

    • @christinas2188
      @christinas2188 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Although you are able to use Azalec Acid? Can you tell me what specific one you use? @@allovertheshopmum same as the other post for me. The HA pulled the moisture out of my skin and pissed it off. I have been using the eucerin baby eczema line and with 5% urea acid and it's been doing pretty good

      @KF-vk9oc ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@christinas2188 I use the Paula’s Choice 10% booster but only every other night, it makes my skin too dry if I use it every night. I’ve never tried finacea as my insurance doesn’t cover it so I don’t know how it compares but I find Paula’s is more effective than the ordinarys but a bit more drying.

    This is THE only vitamin C serum I have ever been able to tolerate with my extremely sensitive, eczema, rosacea, and contact dermatitis prone skin. Vanicream is a literal godsend. Most importantly it's fragrance and essential oil free, it feels milky and hydrating, and it doesn't burn or sting unless I have some sort of extreme contact dermatitis or eczema going on. It's glycerin-based and not hyaluronic acid-based, which I love. Vanicream is literally *the only* brand that doesn't use any ingredients whatsoever that I am allergic to. There is literally no other brand out there that makes it a point to steer clear of cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide MEA, and other amidoamine-based surfactants! I love that this vitamin C serum has both glycerin ceramides in it. And THD ascorbate?! For that price?! It feels too good to be true, but it's not! I'm 30 years old so I don't have any very noticeable signs of aging yet, but I've been using this for almost a year and I could absolutely swear that the tiny little fine lines in my forehead that I have had since I was a teenager are practically gone now now. A family member who knew that I've been self conscious about these fine lines since I was a teenager actually asked if I got something done about them because they're not noticeable anymore! Since I used accutane a year and a half ago, I've developed rosacea and dozens of skin allergies and contact sensitivities, and my skin has been too sensitive for any strength of tretinoin or adapalene. Because of that, I haven't used any sort of retinoids up until recently, so there is no other ingredient I know of that I am using that could be providing these anti-aging benefits. I started using a copper peptide serum (Naturium) at night, and alternating it at night with Naturium's retinaldehyde 0.10% serum (both fantastic for sensitive skin, by the way) only about two months ago, so I tend to ascribe the anti-aging effects that I have seen to this vitamin C serum.

    My skin hates low-pH after shaving, so I prefer vitamin C derivatives for morning use, and because my skin is dry-sensitive, I actually do tend to do well with the tetraesters THDA and ATIP: since they're so lipophilic they tend to be in more emollient bases that can almost act like a quasi-moisturizer on my skin. @@ashlynnkaplan680 The Vanicream vitamin C serum that Dr. Dray talks about in this video? It is like a milky, hydrating serum and feels soothing on my skin because of the glycerin in it, and the ceramides. I've seen great results I think because I've been using it for a year and I get so many complements on my skin! Truly the only Vitamin C serum I haven't had any sort of allergic reaction to!

    sometimes i wonder if a lot of this isn't just us spending more time taking care of our skin. like, would the results be comparable vs really making sure to be gently wash our face, moisturising really well during the day, and use a retinol/vitA and sunscreen everyday. ultimately even if these things dont do what they claim, or dont do it to some really big, noticeable effect, its still more layers of moisture, you know? thats not to say that things like melasma or scaring or pigmentation dont need extras to clear, but sometimes i wonder if OTC retinol/vit a doesnt work, if then its not a matter of needing rx level stuff and a derms help. its hard because i know getting into a derm can be hard

    • @malinia.20
      @malinia.20 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right? My derm was booked out for two years! She saw me for less than thirty seconds at a time standing halfway in and halfway out of the exam room for each of the mandatory monitoring appointments while i was on accutane. I finished accutane almost a year ago, and I have many new skin concerns since then, but I haven't seen my dermatologist since then. I'm trying to switch derms and the one with the soonest next appointment is still booked out into next year. It's sad that basically only medical students with near-perfect board exam scores and multiple research publications during med school get into derm residencies since it's basically the only specialty with an actual work-life balance and therefore the demand is unreal. Because assuming you're also in the US, we are in desperate need of more dermatologists.

    I am very frustrated with niacinamide in everything. I tried a serum with it as the main ingredient and it really irritated my skin. I have very sensitive skin that can react to anything. So I have to be careful with my skin care choices. I have had too many reactions to talk about. I am okay with hyaluronuc acid. The worst was retinol. I got the Ordinary Granactivecehich was supposed to be gentle. The burning was awful. My esthetician told me I can’t use it because of my rosacea. I have been able to tolerate the Timeless vitamin C serum but found it interesting that Dr. Dray is not that impressed with it. I have just dysci feed the Vanicream Daily moisturizer. What a relief to use a cream that does not aggravate my skin. I hope that they expand their range of skin care.

    there was actually a paper released in 2021 stating that Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THDC) degrades rapidly under oxidative stress but can be stabilized by Acetyl Zingerone or to formulate with Ginger and Turmeric extracts to enhance collagen production and antioxidant effects. Some companies caught up on that very quickly. Vanicream missed the bus.
