    I was just gifted an 86 aspencade, this is by far the most helpful video on the matter, and made me realize that if I have to pull the tank, I might as well have a tire on hand especially since the bikes been sitting about 12 years

    Great video that makes me realize it's a winter-job😁I hope my fuel tank holds up a little longer before rust shows up. At least I can see by your video that it's doable on my 1983 GL1100😎👊

      Depending on where you live, I would agree it is a winter job. It should be fine if you coat it with WD40 and close it up tight. It is a lot of work to get out. 🤓

      @@TomAsay64 I'm from the Netherlands so the summers are meant for riding as much as you can and the winter's are not so severe and perfect for maintenance on the bike.

    Folks ya might not like spending the money, BUT, Marine 360 Sta-Bil prevents oxidation in the fuel tank with off gassing. It's been proven over and over again. Both in the marine environment and I personally have ZERO Rust issues in my GL1100 just for this reason. I add it monthly even during riding season and double dose it in the off season. It is pricey, but, which would you prefer; a weekend or 2 (or sheet 4) of ripping your bike apart to clean and liner your tank or add an oz of prevention which will solve the POUND of cure.

      There is Stay-Bil in both bikes and boat. The stuff is great! This was not my bike until a couple years ago.

    • @darrinrentruc6614
      @darrinrentruc6614 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sta-bil will let you down every time if you are storing something away with fuel in it.

      @@darrinrentruc6614 It's NEVER let me down. Not once in 20 years. But it does have a shelf life and if you expect it to protect your fuel for 5 years it just ain't gonna happen.

    I just bought a 83 aspencade and having a brain fart on how to remove the fake gas tank that covers the air pump and all the electrical. Do you have a video where you show yourself taking it off
