      How temperature resistant is the modmat? I've had many different anti-static work mats, and they have ranged from melting super easy to forget a soldering iron on it and it being fine.

    EVGA has been hitting home runs lately, Custom PCB cards with many cooling solutions and great Mobo designs plus a very good warranty policy EVGA is knocking it outta the park big time. This EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent is another cool calm winning Pascal card.

      i am pretty sure they make this cooler some at a premium cost, and i have seen gainwards coolers at stock cooler prices with same width, i would like to see a comparison because i think evga is overpricing this.

    • @dstblj5222
      @dstblj5222 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not by much be because it uses probably 90%+ the same parts as the regular ftw cards and evga reuses parts allot to save on cost, so not a whole lot more expensive to build, so maybe a mild mark up

    A 2.5 slot card that actually puts in a 3rd bracket for extra support. Nice. Nothing else is going to slot in there so it's about time a graphics card used it.

    From the past few years, evga cards haven't really been known for large amounts of sound in the first place. EVGA cards are the only cards I water cool because they weren't that big compared to MSI cards, and on water I've overclocked them farther than any MSI cards I've seen. I'm happy they're doing this, I just don't think it's THAT necessary tbh

      they never even happened with the TI versions, it was only the normal 1070 and 1080, and yes EVGA fixed it. I purchased a 70Ti directly from them, and they told me they have added more thermal pads to ALL of their graphics cards

    I run an FTW3 in an ITX case which can accomodate up to a 2 slot card (Dan A4 SFX). Seeing that EVGA is jumping on the 'more than 2 slot card' bandwagon is disappointing for small form factor system enthusiasts. I'll probably need to buy a new case if I want to run the consumer volta 2080Ti when it comes out.

    Hello Gamers Nexus, I have a question that doesn't pertain to this video but hopefully it get noticed.
    On the userbenchmark website the newest Titan scores the same "splatting" as the 1070. What exactly is splatting and why does it perform the same as the 1070 in this regard. Thanks for your time.

    jo i dont know why, but its only when i want to watch your videos at 1440p@60hz, when i get occasionally stutter/buffer in the video playback. i don't have that with other other videos for example from linus tech tips even in 4k. maybe you can explain it? do you use a different codec? different compression?

    Hey @Gamers Nexus: Was looking for a card to upgrade my 5.1 Mac Pro upgraded with two X5680s. I need to do this because I work with bootcamp on windows on that Maschine inside 3d-engines like cry engine 5 and ureal 4 and also a bit of gaming. I know that there are web drivers from nvidia that work under OSX too (can work with custom designs, at least tested it with Asus). Now my question is: should I go gtx 1080 or 1070ti with a icx evga custom design? Or get a vega 64 wich will do ok under windows but also support metal and the apple pro apps that will be optimized for it?? I like the porerprofile of the 1080. 180 watts can be done without power modding just grabbing the two mini 6 pin adapters on the logic board. If I would go with a 250 watt card I would need to grab the power from one or more of the data II connectors. Do you think that a ICX model with a lower power profile would be the way to go here? The power supply hat 900 watts and could support the power hungry Vega 64 with the pixlas mod. But prices and availability here in Europe is crazy.... hope you can give me a little bit of info here with my situation. Thx :)

  • @xaytana
    @xaytana 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple questions.
    Why 2.5 slots, why not just go for a full triple slot design? Nothing's going to take up that extra half slot, so what's the point of a 2.5 slot cooler.
    And why are card coolers designed to blow air onto the card, and not away from the card? Would it not make more sense, and possibly lower temps, if the hot air is blown away from the card?

    • @PileOfEmptyTapes
      @PileOfEmptyTapes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The guy who said it gives you extra space for air intake in a dual card setup probably is right on the money.
      If you had a few hundred watts to dissipate, what would you prefer, make sure all of the heat ends up in the case first or get it out ASAP (at least partially)? Plus, if you've ever played with fans a bit you may have noticed that when it comes to sucking, they, well, _suck_ - it's not at all easy to establish defined airflow like that, and they tend to like having their intake as free as possible (axials in particular, while radials tend to develop more static pressure).

      @johnkrejchik6838 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KillerXtreme running default fan curve in a micro atx case my temps level off about 70 under heavy load in games. In my old case with more airflow 60 was normal. With a heavy fan curve it sits 55 in my small case. Great card I was able to overclock it pretty far too

    • @CAfakmykak

      they did not need to fix it, those problems only occurred on the 1080 and 1070 models, not the Ti models. When i emailed EVGA before i got a 1070Ti Ultra silent, that is what they told me, and my gpu has all the correct thermal pads. dont worry

      Thing is, there isnt much weight PCI connector can carry. Vertical PCI isnt wise because heat dissipation, simply because cases arent designed with vertical mounting in mind.
      Either manufacturers reinvent cooling solutions and make cards smaller, or cases become different. By current trend in both we wont see either ( simply because manufacturers are lazy and can milk their customers with mediocre products ).

    Please, for the love of God, someone tell me what cpu to buy. I want 75-100 fps and as little of noise as possible. Probably will be paired with MSI GeForce GTX 1060 unless advised other wise. I'm a pc virgin. Pop my cherry

    • @dylanjohnson8722
      @dylanjohnson8722 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ryzen 5 1600. Not the 1600X though. If you want less noise, get a Cryorig H7 to put on the CPU

    • @tarkett8529
      @tarkett8529 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on a fair few factors like what game, what resolution etc but as was stated before a R5 1600 will do you nicely for 1080p gaming with a gtx 1060 6gb. Just again as was stated use a decent aftermarket cooler (generally tower coolers are quieter than aio's in a similar price bracket) Noctua make excellent coolers but have shit brown fans unless you pay extra for chromax ones.

      @Trinescity 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you haven't even given us a budget on the cpu, neither have you given us the intended resolution or the mobo you're already using (if applicable).
      but yeah ryzen 5 would work

      Dylan Johnson Would the 1700, 1700X or i7-7700, i7-7700k be better for my situation or are those CPUs overkill for a build I'm going for? I don't know the motherboard I'll be using because i don't even know what boards are compatible with these CPUs.

      @dylanjohnson8722 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cody Stubbs if you plan on streaming on Twitch, then you might want to go for the 1700, but if not then it's kinda overkill for 1080p @

    Please stop saying "going crazy with the thermal pads.." with the crazy asking price for todays graphics cards this kind of stuff should be in/on by default ..not to mention that this a mid range gpu (104) which should be at least 100$/euro cheaper

      Eswar Kumar ikr that's why i got a zotac 1080 mini. it's cheap compared to the other cards, and has amazing performance.

      joe sirichandan yeah and despite what the reviews say the card does not get that hot nor are the fans are not that loud

      >Zotac
      never
      I returned mine, and waiting for this to get to a good price. Or just waiting for new release cards since my 1060 is still holding up really well actually in 1440p.
      Evga screams quality, and their components last ages at least in my experience.

      but the 1070Ti looks and sounds cooler than a 1080, which is way more important than performance in the DIY PC market.
