How temperature resistant is the modmat? I've had many different anti-static work mats, and they have ranged from melting super easy to forget a soldering iron on it and it being fine.
EVGA has been hitting home runs lately, Custom PCB cards with many cooling solutions and great Mobo designs plus a very good warranty policy EVGA is knocking it outta the park big time. This EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent is another cool calm winning Pascal card.
i am pretty sure they make this cooler some at a premium cost, and i have seen gainwards coolers at stock cooler prices with same width, i would like to see a comparison because i think evga is overpricing this.
Probably not by much be because it uses probably 90%+ the same parts as the regular ftw cards and evga reuses parts allot to save on cost, so not a whole lot more expensive to build, so maybe a mild mark up
You just saved me 500$. I wanted to buy this one used but realized the seller did not have a back-plate (thus it was messed with). Thank you Gamers Nexus for saving me from a bad purchase.
A 2.5 slot card that actually puts in a 3rd bracket for extra support. Nice. Nothing else is going to slot in there so it's about time a graphics card used it.
Or the xbox one x blower cooler modded onto a Graphics card, yes those would be interesting. By the way evga experimented with big blower coolers some years ago, look up "gtx 580 classified"
I have not been a big fan of EVGA, but seeing what they've been doing lately... i'm totally buying the next generation 80 card. I hope it's going to be available in this 2.5 slot variant.
From the past few years, evga cards haven't really been known for large amounts of sound in the first place. EVGA cards are the only cards I water cool because they weren't that big compared to MSI cards, and on water I've overclocked them farther than any MSI cards I've seen. I'm happy they're doing this, I just don't think it's THAT necessary tbh
Have you guys examined and compared different thermal pads from different manufactures. I think that could definitely be a video if it's not already I'm definitely curious how they compare and what alternatives are available.
they never even happened with the TI versions, it was only the normal 1070 and 1080, and yes EVGA fixed it. I purchased a 70Ti directly from them, and they told me they have added more thermal pads to ALL of their graphics cards
I run an FTW3 in an ITX case which can accomodate up to a 2 slot card (Dan A4 SFX). Seeing that EVGA is jumping on the 'more than 2 slot card' bandwagon is disappointing for small form factor system enthusiasts. I'll probably need to buy a new case if I want to run the consumer volta 2080Ti when it comes out.
Hello Gamers Nexus, I have a question that doesn't pertain to this video but hopefully it get noticed. On the userbenchmark website the newest Titan scores the same "splatting" as the 1070. What exactly is splatting and why does it perform the same as the 1070 in this regard. Thanks for your time.
jo i dont know why, but its only when i want to watch your videos at 1440p@60hz, when i get occasionally stutter/buffer in the video playback. i don't have that with other other videos for example from linus tech tips even in 4k. maybe you can explain it? do you use a different codec? different compression?
Hey @Gamers Nexus: Was looking for a card to upgrade my 5.1 Mac Pro upgraded with two X5680s. I need to do this because I work with bootcamp on windows on that Maschine inside 3d-engines like cry engine 5 and ureal 4 and also a bit of gaming. I know that there are web drivers from nvidia that work under OSX too (can work with custom designs, at least tested it with Asus). Now my question is: should I go gtx 1080 or 1070ti with a icx evga custom design? Or get a vega 64 wich will do ok under windows but also support metal and the apple pro apps that will be optimized for it?? I like the porerprofile of the 1080. 180 watts can be done without power modding just grabbing the two mini 6 pin adapters on the logic board. If I would go with a 250 watt card I would need to grab the power from one or more of the data II connectors. Do you think that a ICX model with a lower power profile would be the way to go here? The power supply hat 900 watts and could support the power hungry Vega 64 with the pixlas mod. But prices and availability here in Europe is crazy.... hope you can give me a little bit of info here with my situation. Thx :)
Hello! Can i use the original backplate combined with ekwb water block? Or have to buy and ekwb backplate for the model? If cant use the original backplate, can i use it without any backplates?? Thank you!
Couple questions. Why 2.5 slots, why not just go for a full triple slot design? Nothing's going to take up that extra half slot, so what's the point of a 2.5 slot cooler. And why are card coolers designed to blow air onto the card, and not away from the card? Would it not make more sense, and possibly lower temps, if the hot air is blown away from the card?
The guy who said it gives you extra space for air intake in a dual card setup probably is right on the money. If you had a few hundred watts to dissipate, what would you prefer, make sure all of the heat ends up in the case first or get it out ASAP (at least partially)? Plus, if you've ever played with fans a bit you may have noticed that when it comes to sucking, they, well, _suck_ - it's not at all easy to establish defined airflow like that, and they tend to like having their intake as free as possible (axials in particular, while radials tend to develop more static pressure).
It's been nearly a year, has there been any temp readings with this card? Your description fails to give anything other than links to your store or patron.
Agreed, 2113mhz core and 4498mhz on memory (+75% on voltage). Mine does not go over 57c at 100% load in Unigine, but i also have a pretty aggresive fan curve
KillerXtreme running default fan curve in a micro atx case my temps level off about 70 under heavy load in games. In my old case with more airflow 60 was normal. With a heavy fan curve it sits 55 in my small case. Great card I was able to overclock it pretty far too
after two years of owning this card with powerlimit and temp set to max w/auto fan curce on evgas system. 400mem clock and 175 core clock. Reaches 75C, w/o any overclocking it has never gone over 70c with the same default fan curve.
Hello. I have a evga 1070ti ftw what can I sli that with ? Does it have to be the same 1070ti ftw or is there other cards I can use. Thanks for any info
On this card have they fixed the thermal temperature of the PWM and memory hitting 96C and can this be monitored in the software? Also have they used better caps than the 1070/80 sc/ftw/black cards
they did not need to fix it, those problems only occurred on the 1080 and 1070 models, not the Ti models. When i emailed EVGA before i got a 1070Ti Ultra silent, that is what they told me, and my gpu has all the correct thermal pads. dont worry
Have the big and fancy tool kit open and ready to go. Pop up the other one to do the work so it matches the one in the ad. Life of YT shill showing the dark and painful side =P
@@tipptapp9231 I don't know about fortnite but the card is very silent and I get playable fps at 4k in most games, so I would say it is worth it especially since it is going to lower in price with the launch of the 20 series cards

Thanks NVIDIA, thanks allot.

I'm sure EVGA will keep the two slot design, and they'll make this enlarged heatsink style for a different SKU model. I wouldn't worry too much.
I look forward to the review.
EVGA GOES IN THICC AND ULTRA SILENT 💦💦💦
Ah, just how I like my....
Yeah, should probably not finish that sentence.
So my 1060 6gb FTW 3 is probably overkill it was $280 so comparable to 1 or 2 fan units currently so i figured may as well get a better cooler.

Did I space out, or were there no mention of the RAM? I guess there's not much difference from card to card on that point anymore...
Really thorough. Love it. ❤
I don't get 2.5 slot cards.. why not just make it 3 slot?
Probably allows for half a slot in between for dual GPU setups.
