I agree with this request. I would like to hear if Dr. Grande attributes any “blame” (for Murdaugh’s atrocious, murderous behavior) to opioids Murdaugh may have been taking at the time.

Is that a relatively current picture of her? She looks quite young for 59. Not suicide. According to autopsy expert she didn't inhale any particles from the fire so she was dead before the burning happened.
I feel conflicted about this case. Sometimes I believe she did it herself then I don't understand how she could in that manner. Mostly someone is not concerned about what people think when they do this, she went out of her way to make it look like something else .
Good evening Dr Grande, Debbie choice of suicide is frightening. But, with Opioids she most likely felt no pain. I know personally, Opioids doesn't make you psychotic, It makes you grandiose. Makes you feel like you can do anything. But, Opioids makes you extremely dependent on the drug. Took three Detoxes to make me realize that. I still take Codeine for a severe back injury, but my caregiver only gives me three a day. As always I learn something new from your videos. Have a wonderful Friday.

About opioid paranoia/psychosis, it's really rare for that type of delusion to happen, indeed. The type of spaced out fantasies it can cause are much more in the happy kind from what I've seen. Someone who's high on opiates feel incredible pleasure, like in an orgasmic dream, and people using it can often have little weird things like having brief pleasant conversations w/ the news anchors on tv thinking they're talking to them, or thinking their lover is w/ them on the subway, puckering up to smooch them and suddenly coming to, realizing everyone is watching them kiss the air. Never seen someone have bad delusions on opiates, or heard of it happening, within a community entrenched in that.
Hello Dr. Grande, to me this is a case with different possibilities as you pointed out. I agree with your final thoughts, Debbie had issues and was responsible for what happened in her last actions and was highly motivated to achieve them. Thank you for this video and Best Regards.
I think maybe Debbie was talking about the hydrocodone "They aren't going to let me go." Meaning her addiction to the pills......"they." I spent over 15 years in active addiction to hydrocodone and can attest to its powerful grip. For years I worried, "How do I stop?" It doesn't feel like I'll ever be able to stop! Desperate to quit but my brain craved it and my body SCREAMED without it. Friggin endless cycle of hell! Thankfully that is no longer an issue. It's been over 5 years now and I don't have any cravings or desire to relapse. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel but I can remember a time when I could see absolutely no way out! Maybe thats what Debbie was referring to.
Based off of watching Amanda's own words on interviews go from blaming a third party, sounding certain that someone did this to her, but conveniently switched to the suicide theory whenever the internet was suggesting that Amanda and her bf were the third party to blame, I think that this is someone manipulating the willful ignorance towards understanding mental health being prevalent in Georgia. I think "They won't let me go" was a note for her husband, as it was their joint venmo account and he would likely see the transaction were he to check why money was missing from their bank accounts.
They were living in a home owned by her step-dad. Not with Debbie. A channel, Crime on the record, had an interview with Amanda. The creator is her cousin. It is very interesting. They did a few other lives about the case. You would probably enjoy them. The cousin is a therapist.
I will say...I was a heroin addict for 20 years...and I have hallucinate. But it is very rare. Like out of the thousands of times I used it has happened maybe 4 times. Also...who knows what was mixed in. They were never dangerous hallucinations. It was mostly confusion...talking to people not there...almost like being between a dream state and awake at the same time. Like when ur falling asleep and start to dream but ur still awake....but more intense. It is possible..but to drive that far, go shopping and execute a plan like that seems very far fetched for an opiate hallucination.
I was obsessed with this case, thank you so much for covering it very accurately as always Dr. Grande! It’s always awesome to wake up to a Dr. Grande video before I get ready for work(midnights)!
Maybe Debbie was supposed to be at work and was expected to ask to leave early, and she told her daughter they aren’t gonna let me go. I’ve said that plenty of times in that situation.
May she had a trip planned with her daughter and then was like well I won’t be going cause I won’t be around but she should go and sent her the money and as to not make her suspect anything was wrong sen”t her a message saying they “her work “wouldn’t let her go”as I’m not give her time off.
@@TiffanyStarr2141 yeah but maybe she was expected to ask for a specific day off and was just like, I asked about that day they won’t let me go. I’m gonna off myself may as well give my daughter the money for this trip we talked about talking.
Or maybe since her and Steve shared a Venmo, it was him saying they were not going to let him leave early. Because I think she was off work for the week. I wonder how long in advance she took the time off, and what her reasoning was for asking for the time off.
Perhaps her daughter and the boyfriend moving into her home, was the last straw. She probably had enough to cope with, without 2 idiots arriving on the scene. When she realised she was going to be subjected to a horrible time with her daughter arriving she couldn't bear it. Pity her daughter wasn't concerned enough about her mothers health to give her some support.
Not her ending her suffering with suffering?? Doesn’t make sense. I believe she was sent on an errand to get those items she was seen purchasing for her own murder! I think someone may have been hiding in that vehicle too. A conspiracy within that family
One doesn't burn one's self or clothes to disguise ones identity when there's a car parked next to your body which is rented under your identity. I've always thought the daughter and boyfriend hatched this scheme. I'm not sure that was even Debbie walking into the store. You only see a top down view - no face views. I think Itchy and Scratchy were quite capable of doing this. Who sets themselves on fire in the middle of a forest - the most painful death one can imagine.
It’s true... there is another video somewhere on here of a young woman, mentally ill, who after her death was investigated, was found to have killed herself this way.
She bought a lighter and then was found burned. Do the math. She took the opiates to knock her out. Stripped naked so the fire would be more effective. I'm not saying it was a good plan.
Dr Grande. I love your analyses of these unbelievable circumstances. Big fan. I love your dry yet extremely funny comments. 1 question why do you have all those cacti behind you. 😂
Oh 😮 i had never heard that paranoid people use fire 🚒🔥. That might change how i feel totally. I just found it odd. This case gripped me emotionally. Still does
I had a paranoid psychotic episode (or something that could be described as that) following sudden withdrawal of codeine following 2 weeks of use after wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic. I'm very sensitive to opiods it seems.
@@HeatherHolt yes, I heard voices and thought I could hear bad people plotting bad things through the wall, and I thought that my friends knew I was insane but were sweetly looking after me, discreetly, without me knowing that they knew or were doing it, and they were protecting me from "the men in the white coats". Lasted a few hours. Felt terrified. Couldn't tell anyone : felt shame, panic, loss of control, fear, and that my life was a sham. All that from two weeks of codeine.
Dear Dr Grande you are the only one who could produce a clear analysis of a case with so many moving parts. Yes turning 50 is not funny but even with a bad back - it's not really a reason Many thanks.
There are so many things that are asumed in this case, that the most logical things are left for no one to notice. Like the message Debbie sent, her injuries and that telephone call her daughter had with her aunt...almost the first thing she told her aunt was that altercation that had happened quite a while before with that truck driver. Clearly used to cause suspicion away from the obvious. If you are about to kill someone you can use their phone and pretend you are that person. The amount of the money was just enough to pay what her daughter's boyfriend needed to pay what he owed to 'person x'. And the two of them reconcile a few months !ater and you see them going at each other after Debbie passed away??? It is like the solution is staring you right in the face but proving it might not seem so easy...shame on everyone who dealt with this case. There are murderers in your backyard and gave them a free pass. In the small chance they will never do anything wrong ever again is a small one if you hear how Debbie died. That isn't someone who should run around free. That person or maybe two won't stop here. They enjoyed it a little too much. Low intelligence and being cruel, prisons are filled with them. Hope you can sleep as a baby. For now at least.
Bravo, you did a better job analyzing and describing the potential events that took place in one comment, than the police have done in nearly a year of investigation. I haven't watched the interview, but I bet the ones working this case didn't pay much attention to it either. It's so easy for them to say it's not my problem, but when the shoe is on the other foot guess who turns into a big crybaby, pathetic. On top of the already damming evidence that she did NOT commit suicide, it doesn't make sense to bring a tarp, a rain poncho, paper towels, and then kill yourself on the tarp and leave all the evidence and there, that negates the point of preparing all this stuff to make it look planned. If she was trying to frame her daughter, she would have to cut herself, smear blood all over the paper towels and clothing, fatally wound herself, then roll herself up in a tarp and roll down the hill into the ravine. THATS NUTS, it makes 0 sense to say someone that average planned to commit suicide in the stupidest, most suspicious way possible. Nobody would leave that much evidence of murder on purpose. Its clear that she was not supposed to catch fire and run through the woods leaving a mess everywhere, something went wrong during the murder and her captor or captors fled the scene in a panic. If it was truly intended to play out this way, it would be too risky to hope that the cops wouldn't suspect foul play, but these were not smart criminals. And yet the police don't even suspect murder anymore, what a JOKE. The location is a specific place as well, how did she know there was a logging road there, why would she choose such a dark place to end her life.
Don’t people having a psychotic break often take their clothes off? What a strange way to lose your mother. (I think I see a new addition over there behind you Doc.)
Really?, a woman I was close to took her clothes off before getting into her car to drive herself to where she eventually burned herself to death. I’m still trying to understand why she did it that way when there’re so many less painful ways to go. Her family tells me she had been depressed for a year or so, and had been taking medication prescribed by her regular doctor. Such doctor retired early right after the tragedy happened by the way. The first thing I thought was that the medication could have caused a psychotic episode because I can’t imagine anyone burning themselves if they’re in their right mind.
They all didn't live together in the same house, her husband has a couple of places, and Amanda and her boyfriend lived in 1 of those places, i don't know i still don't believe she unlived herself JMO
I just had surgery and I'm on Hydrocodone, and I'm fine. The walls just bleed every now and them and the giant spiders keep their distance so I'm good..
Great breakdown and analysis Dr. G. I think your hypothesis is correct, it’s common for a few people to always see a conspiracy to kill her but it’s clear she committed suicide. I think some people want drama or some type of mysterious ending when the most simple answer is most likely. She decided and brought an end to her own life. Tragic but true.
Dr Grande, I really really pray u can do a study on long term opioid abuse and the effects on mental health. A person in my family has been on them for a long long time and that person has dementia symptoms. Dr it has been HORRIBLE for all of us. 😞
Great video as always, Dr. Grande.... and a new cactus! The shades are a nice touch :) It seems to be an optical illusion... either it's a criminal hunched over like Mr. Burns on the Simpsons, Or a criminal with his hands up because he knows you've exposed his true nature.
Probably only time I’ve disagreed with Dr Grande. I don’t think Amanda and her husband were sophisticated enough either but they knew shady people and I think someone helped them kidnap Debbie and forced her to buy the supplies at the hardware store -specifically- so she would be seen on camera doing it, and thus could stage it better as a suicide. “They” from “they won’t let me go,” aren’t weird voices in her head or skeletons in her closet lol, she’s referring to someone her daughter must know or know of too. The closeness of the bail amount could be coincidence, but it’s another thing that points back to prison bail, prison relationships, and possible prison origins.
Interesting timing of this video from Dr. G with the mentions of opioids and paranoia. For those of us who've been following the Murdaugh trial (found guilty on all counts today 3-2-23), Alex claimed his paranoia from his longtime opioid addiction caused him to lie to law enforcement (SLED).

And I know this is nothing even close to what murder is, but it was a very dirty thing that was done and Dr. grande is the best!!He is my number one go to and when I moved from Texas back home to South Dakota he was on my entire playlist on the way home.😊❤️💯✅
I will NEVER, EVER believe this was self-inflicted. Never.
Did you catch Amanda's interview on her cousin's youtube? She literally says 'nobody saw her on Friday.....(a sentence or two later) when I saw her on Friday.. WTF
Thank you! I caught that, too. Big red flag. The cops and coroner botched this up. Left crime scene open, (didn't tape it off, during the time they said it was a homicide, personal and targeted) for the gas can to magically appear later, when the guilty party saw the staged suicide plan had failed without that one piece.
Short, sweet, and like a well-made martini dry delivery. As always, Dr. Grande delivers a well presented video. Also noted that the cactus 🌵 collection is rearranged. Mmm, is there a hidden purpose? Lolol. Thank you, Doc, you never disappoint.
A request please, doc. Would you analyse the Murdaugh trial? I know you've already uploaded a vid going over the intricacies of the case but I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the trial itself. How did you think Alex presented himself? What did you think of the evidence? What, in particular, stood out to you, overall?
Would love to hear your thoughts on all of this! Keep up the good work!
I agree with this request. I would like to hear if Dr. Grande attributes any “blame” (for Murdaugh’s atrocious, murderous behavior) to opioids Murdaugh may have been taking at the time.
@@seaglasscolor opioids are no excuse for murder. You can be the gentlest person in the world and have an addiction. Alex Murdaugh was just a selfish, greedy entitled man. I've been hooked on the trial, and I live in the UK. It baffles belief that this man was able to get away with what he did for so long!
Not sure if you saw or not , he did release it right after this ?
@@kaseysewick1691 yes I saw, thanks. Think he uploaded about a day later. Thought he would probably do an update.
Also, why would someone who’s planning on unaliving themselves bring their cell phone into the woods and smash it? And why would she get chik-fil-a as a “last meal”……I have so many questions. This case really stuck with me.
Same here! Nothing makes sense.
Smashing your phone fits perfectly with the paranoid theory though. I've done that myself. Chic fil a is really neither here nor there. It's just food.
Sir Todd we always look upon you as a impartial voice of reason ever reaching for the answer we all look to find , you are a voice of clarity and retribution in a sea of confusion and mis information from one soul if nothing else , thankyou for doing what you continue to do you help so many people in so many ways xxxx
Thank you for covering this! It was all over facebook for awhile, and then it dropped off the radar. What a strange and tragic story for the entire family. I pray for peace for Debbie and her loved ones
This is a weird case. I have so many questions
Thanks for this video Dr. Grande. What a weird way to go…
Oh 😮 i had never heard that paranoid people use fire 🚒🔥. That might change how i feel totally. I just found it odd. This case gripped me emotionally. Still does. Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Have you tried kratom? I make a tea from it for my chronic pain. Works better than any meds I was given.
@@deedsterdoo1603 never heard of Kratom. I injured my back thinking I could help my Dad clean the new built in pool in 1989. I lifted up the hose, and something pop along my back on the left side. It was so loud my Dad, who was standing on the south side of the pool heard the pop. I ended up missing seven days of work. My parents who were in their late 60s had to help me get around. This same thing which pop then, had popped out again.

@@deedsterdoo1603 I don't go to the first doctor you mentioned nor a Chiropractor. I see a pain specialist. He gives me I believe steroids shots every three months. Plus, I get PT about every six months. I think my problem is I have been for over a year sleeping on the sofa in the living room. I have a perfectly good bed in my bedroom. I have a Sleep Numbers Mattress. Why am I in the living room? Because I saw a spider in my room. I have Arachnophobia. So, I am in the living room. Which when you think about it, is a bit stupid. Really? Thank you for sharing your experiences. That's awful, I hope the poor woman didn't think she was going crazy and didn't want to tell anybody! many wouldn't think hallucinations with a pain killer but 100% every ones body reacts differently.
Itchy and Scratchy 🤣🤣 Love it 👍
This is such a strange and terrible case. Debbie died near my home. It is difficult to piece together the facts and make it make sense. To this day there is a small memorial at the entrance to the woods road leading to where her body was found. Very sad.
Maybe Debbie wanted to kill herself but for some reason, she didn't want people to think that she killed herself.
That was my thought.
Sure seems possible, and I'd imagine being viewed as a coward who gave up could be the incentive
I think she tried to make it look like homicide, so family could get life insurance
@@Catlily5 my thought exactly. She was ashamed. OR-she may have also had a life insurance and knew her family couldn’t receive it if she committed suicide so she tried to make it look like a homicide.
@@M_Samp I agree but I don't think you get life insurance payments for murder. It would give people a reason to kill their family member.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this very intriguing case.
Happy Friday, Dr. Grande.❤
I find it incredible that any woman would strip naked prior to suicide knowing that this is how she would be found. I am doubtful of suicide, jmo
He did not see her. He assumed she was still in her room.I absolutely do not buy this. She was murdered
Hello Dr. Grande, to me this is a case with different possibilities as you pointed out. I agree with your final thoughts, Debbie had issues and was responsible for what happened in her last actions and was highly motivated to achieve them. Thank you for this video and Best Regards.
Thanks, Dr Grande, for the insight. Binge-watching since yesterday. Your deadpan jokes are so funny!
I think maybe Debbie was talking about the hydrocodone "They aren't going to let me go." Meaning her addiction to the pills......"they."
I spent over 15 years in active addiction to hydrocodone and can attest to its powerful grip.
Interesting point!
I wonder what her husband thinks of the whole thing? I haven't heard anything that he has said.
Sounds like she was murdered to me but not sure they could pull it off like you said. Great points again. Thanks Dr G😊💟💟
It’s like you live in my head Dr.Grande!! Every case that I follow you always end up covering it! Even the lesser well known subjects!
They were living in a home owned by her step-dad. Not with Debbie. A channel, Crime on the record, had an interview with Amanda. The creator is her cousin. It is very interesting. They did a few other lives about the case. You would probably enjoy them. The cousin is a therapist.
Sounds SUPER bias. Pass.
@o.p.driftwood5484 Either way, it is an interesting watch, IMO
I will say...I was a heroin addict for 20 years...and I have hallucinate. But it is very rare. Like out of the thousands of times I used it has happened maybe 4 times. Also...who knows what was mixed in. They were never dangerous hallucinations. It was mostly confusion...talking to people not there...almost like being between a dream state and awake at the same time. Like when ur falling asleep and start to dream but ur still awake....but more intense. It is possible..but to drive that far, go shopping and execute a plan like that seems very far fetched for an opiate hallucination.
Amanda was somehow involved... carefully calculated.
I believe so also
Seriously, I think it seems unlikely that this was done by her. Confusing.
Thanks for the upload, Dr. Grande!
Why was Debbie HOLDING on to a branch?. Not buying SUICIDE
I was obsessed with this case, thank you so much for covering it very accurately as always Dr. Grande! It’s always awesome to wake up to a Dr. Grande video before I get ready for work(midnights)!
Me too!!!
The itchy and scratchy comment had me bust out laughing. You're the best, Dr G.
She wasn't working that day. She had taken that week off work
@@TiffanyStarr2141 yeah but maybe she was expected to ask for a specific day off and was just like, I asked about that day they won’t let me go. I’m gonna off myself may as well give my daughter the money for this trip we talked about talking.
Or maybe since her and Steve shared a Venmo, it was him saying they were not going to let him leave early. Because I think she was off work for the week. I wonder how long in advance she took the time off, and what her reasoning was for asking for the time off.
l just love the sound of Dr. Grande's voice. He's become a friend of mine.
It was apparently another house that she and / or her husband owned, not where they lived.
I had two suicidal patients set themselves on fire.
It happens.
I agree. The fact there was a specific amount of money sent to the daughter only...
It’s true... there is another video somewhere on here of a young woman, mentally ill, who after her death was investigated, was found to have killed herself this way.
Her purse and phone were next to her body as well. I think it was a gruesome way to kill herself.
She bought a lighter and then was found burned. Do the math. She took the opiates to knock her out. Stripped naked so the fire would be more effective. I'm not saying it was a good plan.
Poor lady.
Dr Grande. I love your analyses of these unbelievable circumstances. Big fan. I love your dry yet extremely funny comments. 1 question why do you have all those cacti behind you. 😂
Please cover the Circleville Letters case?

I was wondering what happened in this case! The update is appreciated, tho I didn't expect this.
I would be curious to know if she also had taken Ambien. In my experience this causes bizarre behavior more than opioids
Goodnight Moon. Goodnight Dr. Grande!
Why not just have alerts when cleaning products are bought along with zip ties black bags rope etc.
Excellent analyses
Her daughter got the money right. So, she killed her & stated the message that way to feign a possible kidnapping story (if needed).
I had a paranoid psychotic episode (or something that could be described as that) following sudden withdrawal of codeine following 2 weeks of use after wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic. I'm very sensitive to opiods it seems.
That’s so scary.
She just turned 59
No, they don't strip down usually.
People about to die of hypothermia do that sometimes. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of?
That isn't typical of a psychotic break. No. Maybe people feigning...because they don't what true psychosis looks like.
Remember alisa lamb ? She took all her clothes off before she jumped into that water tank.
They all didn't live together in the same house, her husband has a couple of places, and Amanda and her boyfriend lived in 1 of those places, i don't know i still don't believe she unlived herself JMO
Thumbs up for the Itchy & Scratchy reference

Great breakdown and analysis Dr. G. I think your hypothesis is correct, it’s common for a few people to always see a conspiracy to kill her but it’s clear she committed suicide. I think some people want drama or some type of mysterious ending when the most simple answer is most likely. She decided and brought an end to her own life. Tragic but true.
I know this is a strange thing to take away from this story but a family dollar seems like an unlikely place to buy a tarp.

Hi Dr Grande!
Dr Grande, I really really pray u can do a study on long term opioid abuse and the effects on mental health. A person in my family has been on them for a long long time and that person has dementia symptoms. Dr it has been HORRIBLE for all of us. 😞
Dr Grande, I was just thinking of this case last night and wondered if it was closed. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you for your analysis. ❤
I think she was killed because her daughter and boyfriend owed some one money!
I think you are onto something Doc 👊🏼
Hi Dr Grande
Great video as always, Dr. Grande.... and a new cactus! The shades are a nice touch :) It seems to be an optical illusion... either it's a criminal hunched over like Mr. Burns on the Simpsons, Or a criminal with his hands up because he knows you've exposed his true nature.
“more like Itchy and Scrarchy” 😂😂😂
This drove me crazy b/c Debbie appeared to be such a cheerful, pleasant person in her pictures.
Glad he was found guilty. What a terrible person.
Yes nah. His murdering caused him to lie
