Excellent video - thank you very much. I did buy the repair kits from the Amazon Link in your video, which worked perfectly. A couple of notes on the process - I found taking out the external handle unnecesary - I first took it out and the courtesy light turned out to be a problem to put it back, although eventually everything worked out fine. Another important thing is that once you have changed the faulty parts - in my case were the plastic wheel and one the large plastic piece that actually unlock and lock the door - and I realized that in order for the lock to work properly, it must be assembled in the unlocked position. If you do it otherwise, it just wont work. Thank you very much!!

I had the same locks on my E87 1 series; one started squealing when locking - I didnt know how to open the unit, so just managed to extract the actuator and drown it in WD40 as a temporary fix. Thanks for the disassembly of the actuator; thats really useful.

Great video bro! Im having an issue with mine where the driver lock locks really slow if I dont drive for a few days. Like it goes in slow motion compared to the other doors. Maybe it just needs to be lubricated

.Good evening from Athens . I have a 2006 BMW 316i E90. The rear right door lock broke. I ordered two plastic gears from Lithuania and replaced the one that had two breaks. But when I put it in the car it wouldn't open from the outside. I took it out again and put the plastic gear in another position and it wouldn't close with the remote control - it opened from the outside and the inside while the other doors were closed with the remote control. Hoping you read this! My 2007 328i has a strange problem. The left rear door will lock during driving, but when I stop and lock all doors with key fob the left rear door unlocks! It has a new actuator.
Thanks for putting together the video. I have worked out that the only thing wrong with my actuator is the gear like yours. I am going to buy the gear from amazon and rebuild the actuator. Is it important what rotation position the gear goes back in relative to the lock position? For example gear ear at 12 o'clock and the lock open. I am worried that when I start up the motor will drive the gear to the wrong position because the worm gear and lock are out of sync.
The gear will only fit in one direction as it will correspond with the worm gear it slots into, which the motor drives, all it is afterwards is reassembling in the correct order and all should be well
Great video, having the same problem with mine...left front cant unlock, there is slight movement from the nob when pressing the key to unlock a sign that something is skipping.

Quite literally break the door lock latch from within... The sad part of this is you'd need to have the door skin removed to get access to cut the door lock off... Because of the damages and because its the rear door its quite impossible to use your hands to get in there due to the limited space

That would be my understanding, when the door is latched it will get the signal as the button is brought down, and fully latched, however it could also be a wiring issue in the loom going into the door, its best to try out another lock first before looking into the wiring

After watching your video, I doubt I would be able to get the part (Gear) in order to repair the lock, so I think I'll pass on disassembling and try to get a replacement lock assembly. Mine, like yours, still works to lock but doesn't unlock.

My rear passenger door locks/unlocks with the key, but the problem is when the door is unlocked, you can only open in from outside, I had a look at the door and door lock cable pulls it all the way, its seems like its not streched, could the problem be with the gear inside of the door lock?
Most probably the release mechanism is not working correctly inside the unit, the gearing inside is for the locking and unlocking for the door. You can try opening it up and see if all the springs and all components are in place

Hi, i would advise to have someone qualified to have a look at the wiring harness to your actuator... It is a possibility that there could be something wrong which is why it is unlocking but not locking
let me explain my problem: when I push the lock or unlock button on the remote all passenger doors is locked and unlocked normally BUT for the driver door is nothing happened. I always must use the key to lock and unlock the door only. for this case, does it same like you? if same can I only replace the gear as shown on the clip? THANK YOU in advance :)
Hi, from what you experiencing, firstly, check if there is power going through to the lock, open up the doorpad and place your hand on the actual lock then use the key to lock and unlock the car, if you feel a vibration then the actual motors in the lock are working, you can then go ahead and replace the gears inside the lock and it should work as normal. As a last resort and a faster method will be to replace the complete lock as I've done. I hope this helps Have a great day 🙏🏼

These door locks are all the same, the comfort access (touch opening) only sends a signal to the car to unlock / lock the door, if you have the lock replaced, it will work out better instead of having it repaired 🙏🏼 Thank you for the comment and i hope this helps🙏🏼
I finally opened door panel and on your video there after removing 3 screws from doorlock its coming down. In mine there are some wires and some cable attached to the doorlock. Havent seen nothing like this on video. Do you have any information what I need to detache?
@@panmisiek69 you would need to detach the wiring cable that plugs into the door lock, and the release cable thats found on the inside of the door that connects to the outside door handle
Please help - I was in a rush while stopping the car - BMW 3 series 2013 ,I have tried to open the driving seat door same time putting the ignition off , the internal unlock handle got ripped and still hanging , the door lock works fine but I now have to open the window using the handle outside to open the door which is quite uncomfortable .please could you advise how to fix the door knob inside which is just sticking as usual without opening the door . I just did this to my passenger rear door. The issue with mine was that it wouldn’t unlock the outside handle so it had to be opened from inside. After replacing a few pieces both handles work awesome but when I press the lock or unlock button it clicks 3 to 5 more times than it should but then works normally after a few tries.
@@Realpreshaanb upon closer inspection I failed to match the new plastic gear with the old broken so without noticing i put the left actuater gear in my right side actuator
I accidently left all windows open in night and rain wet almost all interior including doors and window and lock electronic. It somehow hapend to work again but winter came and because od low temperatures, moist that left inside doors broke window electronic and i cant close drivers doors. Hope this video will help and if someone have tips to help me solve this problem i will be very grateful!

So - my '06 325 - the inside handle will unlock the door - but then won't open the door. Neither will the outside handle. And my remote (or the lock button on the dash) will unlock the doors just fine. Do you think this is the actuator or the bowden cable? And - my door is SHUT. ugh! LOL!
If the handle on the inside unlocks the door as well as the buttons inside the car and the key, then the Central locking part of the actuator is working perfectly, it seems like the actual latch on the actuator is stuck in the closed position, you're going to have to find a way to remove the door panel with the door closed and try to unlatch it manually, worst and most extreme case is to break open the latch from the door😬
@@Realpreshaanb On the rear driver side door. No keyhole. The actuator moves but door stuck shut close. I have taken the inside panel off but the actuator will not release the lock to open the door.

There is a wheel like a disk inside behind the hole where the lock/unlock hanger connects. you get a flat head and turn it counterclockwise breaking anything that stops you and BOOM..door opens like the holy angels descending and doves flying lol....yes I was that excited boss lmao
I just replaced that plastic wheel inside the actuator and still the same problem..teeth on old one was broken and didnt see anything else broken around..wrongly assembled??🙄🙄
Most likely, i would recommend removing the actuator off the vehicle, open it up and double check if everything is in place, and before installing, hold it in your hand and plug it back, slide the latch all the way in and use your key to test, that way if its still not 100% it would save you time so you don't have to go through installation and removal ✌🏼
If the door doesn't open, you're going to have to MacGyver your way and remove the door panel off and get access to the actual unit, theres a latch release pin that you will need to push down to release the latch & open the door . It happened to me on a previous E90 that we had owned. I hope this helps
That's not going to work kid. U need to replace whole wheel. There are actual repair kit on Ebay. The mechanical wheel is there for reason simple as. Over all video helpful but u need to get new wheel to work properly. 👍
Thanks for the comment, however i replaced the entire unit, not just one component, i only took apart the unit to show the inner workings of it and the failure point👌🏼
Would have been a lot more helpful to show where each part went back into instead of being completely out of focus and then sped up...... it's like you have helped disassemble but not helped reassemble as things just come off everywhere when you undo parts and is next to impossible to figure out where to put it all back without guidance.
If you can't pay attention to how its being taken apart then you shouldn't even attempt it, just buy a new one and move on. You should be happy he even showed how to disassemble it. many other people in the comments understood it, howcome you just ratio'd yourself?

Try loosening up the actual lock on the door and pushing it further in so it pulls the door further in, if that makes sense

Both, the motors inside the unit and the actual gears are broken, best to replace with a new unit 👌🏼

You can use a prybar and a hammer to break it out or you'll need to get a locksmith to have it cut out

Seems like the battery is either dead inside the key fob, or the physical buttons on the board are damaged

sounds like the button on the key is on its way out, try using the spare key and check if its doing the same thing

You would need to open the door panel, and have a look to see if the cable did not jump off from the lock to the inside handle 👌🏼 i hope that helps

That would be internal failure inside the lock itself. The Gears are skipping and will need to be replaced

If it works out cheaper to rebuild, I'd do the same as well... But i couldn't get the gears and stuff in time so it was most effective to replace

So - my '06 325 - the inside handle will unlock the door - but then won't open the door. Neither will the outside handle. And my remote (or the lock button on the dash) will unlock the doors just fine. Do you think this is the actuator or the bowden cable? And - my door is SHUT. ugh! LOL!
If the handle on the inside unlocks the door as well as the buttons inside the car and the key, then the Central locking part of the actuator is working perfectly, it seems like the actual latch on the actuator is stuck in the closed position, you're going to have to find a way to remove the door panel with the door closed and try to unlatch it manually, worst and most extreme case is to break open the latch from the door😬

How do you unlock it when the door won't open from inside and outside. Where do you press on the actuator to release the door?
When you say it won't unlock from inside and out, is it only with the key or is the door not opening at all?
@@Realpreshaanb On the rear driver side door. No keyhole. The actuator moves but door stuck shut close. I have taken the inside panel off but the actuator will not release the lock to open the door.
Since you've taken off the inside panel, try again get to the release pin and it should open up the door

There is a wheel like a disk inside behind the hole where the lock/unlock hanger connects. you get a flat head and turn it counterclockwise breaking anything that stops you and BOOM..door opens like the holy angels descending and doves flying lol....yes I was that excited boss lmao

I just replaced that plastic wheel inside the actuator and still the same problem..teeth on old one was broken and didnt see anything else broken around..wrongly assembled??🙄🙄
Most likely, i would recommend removing the actuator off the vehicle, open it up and double check if everything is in place, and before installing, hold it in your hand and plug it back, slide the latch all the way in and use your key to test, that way if its still not 100% it would save you time so you don't have to go through installation and removal ✌🏼

Have the same issue with the front passanger door. have you solved yours ?
Yes i ended up replacing the complete unit... And disassemble the damaged one to explain what is the most common component that goes wrong

I got a few suggestions that might work
If the door doesn't open, you're going to have to MacGyver your way and remove the door panel off and get access to the actual unit, theres a latch release pin that you will need to push down to release the latch & open the door . It happened to me on a previous E90 that we had owned. I hope this helps

That's not going to work kid. U need to replace whole wheel. There are actual repair kit on Ebay. The mechanical wheel is there for reason simple as. Over all video helpful but u need to get new wheel to work properly. 👍
Thanks for the comment, however i replaced the entire unit, not just one component, i only took apart the unit to show the inner workings of it and the failure point👌🏼

Would have been a lot more helpful to show where each part went back into instead of being completely out of focus and then sped up...... it's like you have helped disassemble but not helped reassemble as things just come off everywhere when you undo parts and is next to impossible to figure out where to put it all back without guidance.
If you can't pay attention to how its being taken apart then you shouldn't even attempt it, just buy a new one and move on. You should be happy he even showed how to disassemble it. many other people in the comments understood it, howcome you just ratio'd yourself?
