Guys you've gotta know one thing. Most of the time (about 99%), when you order an almond milk drink in a coffee shop or a food court, what you get is apricot seed milk. Pure almond pits are bitter and poisonous, but they resemble apricot pits.
If you have lived in Penang long enough, you'd know the food here isn't half as good as it used to be 20 years ago. The foodie paradise identity is just a brand-loyalty hype. You can still get good food here, but don't come thinking this is the utopia of Malaysian food. Penang food is not cheap either. In many cases, KL offers better food and variety. One example is South Indian food. It's crappy in Penang, and I am a Tamil. I know what I'm talking.
@mjo750 you must understand that stall owners(original) will die, next generation takes over. Some will close down. This is the same in singapore too. My dad was from georgetown. Yes of course it tasted better 30 years ago and cheap too.
@@mjo750 South Indian food sucks in Penang?? 😰😟 Had you even tried the Murtabak at Hameediyah, Hameed Pata Mee Goreng Sotong at Padang Esplanade, Pasembur or Nasi Kandar at Deens Maju, Roti Canai at the corner of Penang Road/Hutton Lane?? Those are divine!
@@BingoandBinew Wonderful. I like it when you guys visit cafe having coffee, tea and pastry. You guys could try one of the best pastry in KL, Paul Bakery at KL Pavilion next time in KL. 😀
@@BingoandBinew You are welcome. I used to go to pastry cafes every now and then, KL used to have few Delifrance cafes, liked the croissant tuna sandwich a lot. Now, not so much. Once in a while, I will buy few cheesecakes from the Secret Recipe, a local francise restaurant, specialize in cakes and cheesecakes, few of my favorites cheesecakes are the macadamia caramel, blueberries, New York, marble etc. I also like the fish and chips, the lamb shank and mashed potatoes from Secret Recipe. It's more affordable few decades ago, but it's still is slightly above affordable. 😀

wow beautiful town full of street pop art ..good food and fresh coffee...and you mentioned not too touristy priced ... surprising too that its not too crowded with people perhaps because its a weekday? so how was the Assam Laksa Linda? we just gor some assam laksa soup mix from our local grocery and the recipe calls for mackarel fish and some canned sardines so thats why you said it taste like seafoody? what I understand is its the version of laksa without coconut milk .... the almond milk drink does it taste a bit like vanilla? What I know is pure almond just like the nut has not too much strong and distinct flavor so perhaps they add vanilla flavor to enhance it? oh and i love french pastry specially croissant with anything from butter to smoked salmon !
@@allancristophe6810 Hi Allan! 👋🏽 We always tend to go out during the week to avoid the crowds, so that may be why it doesn’t look too busy! I loved every type of Assam Laksa I tried! Jon wasn’t a big fan, but I really enjoyed it. 😊 I don’t remember the almond milk drink tasting like vanilla, but it’s very possible that it did! 😅 We both love croissants, so we were so happy with this one! It was great! 😋
What is your favourite part of Armenian Street?
Apakah bahagian kegemaran anda di Jalan Armenia?
The heritage buildings e.g. the old school hair saloon/barbershop are still in operation, very nostalgic.
