    Incredible: Paul Greengrass able to shoot a film without shaking his camera about every two seconds and making something actually watchable.

    Its just a dramatized film!!!
    I was on one particular hairy op, i had 5 very close friends with me , we all saw and remember different things , what i saw and my best friend 5 meters away saw were completely different, who was right ? We both were ,from our own perspective ! Adrenaline and " fog of war" changes everything around you, you see what your brain wants you to see! Everyone chill out .

    Shepard kids not only located B20 but the Lone Survivor SEALs on the Sawtalo Sar as well.
    The similarities run deep.
    Units of two of the most expensive and highly trained forces, in the US and British militaries respectively, get their covers blown by shepherd boys.
    Sounds like we should be hiring shepherds to do recon.
    (Also, both B20 and Red Wings were failures, both units unprepared, both units rendered ineffective by terrain and climate, lack of situational awareness, lack of personal combat experience in their respective conflicts, both lobbied to be where they were - in Bravo Two Zero's case, the British lobbied for their deployment against the wishes of higher ups, esp Schwarzkopf.
    In Red Wings, politicians and Pentagon higher ups, lobbied for their deployment, when the Marines on location, including the CJTF commander said that they (USMC) could do the job, and that SEALs would be impediments.
    - Both units were lacking in combat experience in their respective conflicts.
    - Most remarkable:
    Both situations, absolutely stuffed up, were turned into bestselling books. Both spun the truth, and turned stories of mission failure into stories of success.

      Seals and marines are good but the SAS SbS and RMC would shi t on them Britain has the best fighting force its been proven many times

    • @michaelharrison8120
      @michaelharrison8120 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the SEALs involved with Lone Survivor weren't a tier 1 unit and weren't the most expensive and highly trained forces in the US -- in fact, they were from a SDV Team who were acting as an assault/recon unit due to high demand for troops in the middle east. Becoming a SEAL (white side) is the prerequisite for having a chance a selection for DEVGRU, which is the US equivalent of SBS, with Delta or CAG being the SAS equivalent. To become a tier 1 operator in the Navy requires 1-2 years of white side SEAL training (2 months of boot camp, roughly 1 month of indoc and pre-BUD/S, 6 months of BUD/S, then another 6-12 months of SEAL Qualifications Training (SQT). Then after a minimum of 1 deployment (which is rare) you can apply for DEVGRU selection, known as Green Team, which is another 6 month selection that makes BUD/S seem like a walk in the park.

    I really like this movie, especially when you consider it was a budget production. The contact with McNab at the check point was particularly good, the sense of panic and speed to get out of contact. Don’t take it too seriously, just look at it as a bit of media art.

    i have been reading though some of the comments below........... i served 7 years in the Parachute regiment before an injury forced me to leave, here are some points that i would like to raise...... to Pass P company alone it was a weight of 45 pounds plus extra kit, the bottom line is unless you were there in the mission we will never know, anyone that says they know what happens or they were SAS are prob lying, i have been over there if they did get compromised then it would been hard.

    If this movie is true, it is a shame to send a commando team off on a mission without it being properly equipped. Brave men do not need to die for lack of equipment.

    Its weird because some of this stuff that he found out seems a little unbelievable.... According to Mcnab and Ryan, there was a big fire fight witch tanks etc.... Coburn corroborates the same to a degree. Yet abbas says it was just him and two other people??? Hmmm. The other one that got me is when when Michael speaks to mohammed who found vinces body.... 1. he pointed out vince in a picture... and 2. He knew vince had two girls... YET mcnab does not mention this and Ryan got it wrong.. hmmmm.

  • @moribundus000
    @moribundus000 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Although, if you read McNab's autobiographies, he recognises and admits himself that he was often gobby and full of himself.
    In interviews he's described himself as having been a "selfish dickhead" at times.
    So it could be an accurate portrayal.

    Clearly you have never heard of Hiroo Onoda and Teruo Nakamura then. 8 days is great. But these guys were Japanese holdouts in WW2 from 1944 to 1974 waging their own guerrilla wars in the Philippines and Indonesia respectively until they were finally convinced to surrender after they had finally realized that the war had ended and that Japan had surrendered.
    Now that is how you Escape and Evade.

    @benny1473 They have to carry all the ammo, food, water, and equipment they need to survive for a week or more. So of course the gear is quite heavy. They usually carry at least 120lbs of gear just in their pack. Not counting guns and vests and helmet. Remember that there is little to eat or drink out in the desert. Also once they setup their observation post they were supposed to stay put. Hence all the gear. Research SAS selection and you'll know they can carry heavy loads.

    A few questions:
    - Why didn't they have cold weather gear ? Did they not know the temperatures ? If not, why ?
    - Their LUP is near a BUA (a small village). Why were they not aware of its presence ? The entire area of "Scud Alley" was very well known,. I know they didn't have BLUEFORCE tracker, but, either they didn't study the maps, or the maps were inaccurate, and if the maps were inaccurate, why ? Coalition air had scored scouted the area thoroughly in searching for the Scud launchers.
    - Why were SAS even used here ? Gen Schwarzkopf was against it, believing special forces to be exceedingly hyped, but in the field, he believed their training and mentality would be an impediment rather than a benefit.
    Why not use Recon Marines to call in air once launchers were located ?
    - Did the SAS destroy any Scud Launchers?
    - Have we ever heard from any of the successful SAS units tasked with Scud Launcher destruction ? Were there any ?
