This is the full first episode of the SAS (Special Air Service) operating in a fictional environment behind enemy lines. I do not own any rights to these series or this episode.

The SAS are a elite fighting regiment no doubt about that and they are the standard of what all SF units are derived from true. I'm truly sick of the "Who is Better" debates. Funny thing is you keyboard assassins actually compare the two more then the actual operators. There's a mutual respect that we all share for one another. As a American and veteran the UK are our allies who share the same battlefield as we do. To be honest it's doesn't matter who's best because trust me as the enemy you wouldn't want to be in any SF operators crosshairs no matter what country he's from. It's amazing how a ton of kids and couch commandos who've never and probably never will serve a day in the arm forces debate about things they know nothing about. it's down to tactics that makes the difference between UK infantry and US.. the UK will sit back get a brew on the go while deciding the best plan of attack.. I witnessed US troops being minions "hey didle fidle straight down the middle" how ever.. NO PLAN SURVIVES CONTACT!
Ignore trolls trying to trigger. You're right, most who think they know something know nothing. I've had cousins serve in the SAS and my uncle Vernon joined them in North Africa. Served right through to Yugoslavia and then served in Korea. Comparing the SF of different countries is stupid because nations have different geography; different commitments and different levels of training and skill sets even within the same army/airforce/navy. A good example, for anyone who doesn't know, is the Danish navies Sirius Dog Sled Patrol. Seriously impressed with these guys and deserve a mention. The mental challenge and isolation with just you and your buddy for months on end apart from the physical challenges and self dependency. Respect to all elite and SF who go into harms way so the rest of us don't have to.
I learned most of these things in the regular military, but it is obvious that the training, discipline and equipment of this and similar units is on a whole other level! It's interesting how an ordinary soldier is not dedicated to this details and how just a little bit of discipline and knowledge can significantly reduce the risks of getting killed or wounded in combat!
I recently read about the SAS in the Falklands War; they blew up every single Argentine aircraft at this airfield on a small island & wiped out, I don't know, 25% of the total Argentine air strength. Maybe not that much, but it was a serious loss for Argentina. It's exactly what their predecessors did in North Africa to, apparently, 100's of Axis aircraft.
Apparently the Argentina government caught wind that SAS were actually within the country and they more or less panicked and freaked out, then the SAS guys went to a neighbouring country and got a plane ride home
Raid on Pebble Island ... they ve attacked an small airfield .. planes for ground attack. Really important for the british landing at S.Carlos bay. So the only airfield operative was Port Stanley
The Airfield at Port Stanley was bombed by the Brits Vulcan bomber. Only one bomb actually hit the runway but it was enough damage to stop Argentine planes using it.. It was also the first and last time the Vulcan bomber was used in combat, although it was used throughout the cold war as a deterrent to the Russians (Long range nuclear bomber)
Small groups of men can prove deadlier than an entire battalion. The SAS proves that. There is a reason they were selected as 'the best of the best'. Well done, mates.
These tactics are old as fuck, trust me. This is stuff from decades ago. The SAS are never publicised for what they do. The MoD doesn't comment on anything that the SAS, if it's operations, training, deaths. They are always improving, and keeping on top as the best Special Forces regiment in the world.

Back in the early 70’s I used to go to the pubs and dances in Hereford, all the bouncers were SAS, the local yobs hated them (losing every scrap had a lot to do with it).
Great video and I liked the fact that lots of emphasis was put on all the work before and after the sniper shot. Way too often snipers are potrayed as supermen just taking the shots from distance and going home when the reality is much more harsh.
These men are being broken down into pieces and they build themselves up. This is why SAS training course is the most hardest among all other special forces. Only with the right mentality and physical strength worthy called themselves SAS.
This is actual SASR operations so they've already earnt the title and have already been "broken down". The 27 day selection course breaks you down, the 18 months of training after that is just that, training.

The developers based the appearance of the "Captain Price" character from the COD series on John Mac (Moustache guy) in admiration for the professional manner in which his team of two SAS successfully defused a hostage situation which resulted in the sole death of the hostage taker. I am sure you can find footage of the rescue on youtube.. RIP John.
The British Royal Marine Commando infants are most proffessional and elite navy in the world and undertake the hardest basic military training known to man. This training is 32 weeks long compared with the United States Marine Corps 13 weeks of training and is completed in the Marines Commando Training Centre Royal (CTCRM) to give an idea about the course training Resistance is a six mile (9.65 km) course across rough moorland and forest land in Woodbury Common near Lympstone, which includes tunnels, pipes, wading pools and a culvert under water. The course ends with a four miles (6 km) running CTCRM. Followed by a test of shooting, where the recruit must hit 6 out of 10 shots at a 25m target simulating 200 m. To be completed in 73 minutes (71 minutes for Royal Marine officers). Originally 72 minutes, these times were recently increased by one minute as the route of the course was altered this course has to be completed by recruits in full fighting order of 32 lb (14.5 kg) load carrying straps eg staff, equipment and L85A2. Steve Arthur +Simon Kveinå Thats correct. 13 weeks from civilian to rifleman. After that is specialisation for a few with specific attributes and according to manpower needs. The royal marines however are fully trained soldiers after 15 weeks BUT you cannot get the green beret until you pass the commando phase of the course Which takes up the remainder of the 32 weeks. after that its into a unit on general duties or specialisation training
Eddie Stone is Scottish, not English, as was the late John McAleese (Mac) Learn the difference for goodness' sake. I can tell the difference between various states in the US, and English-speaking Mexicans, and Canadians, and I'm over 3000 miles away. Trust me, we find this pretty annoying when people get this mixed-up. Thanks for the good words about our Special Forces though. US Special Forces are fine warriors too. :)

You're my hero. People always seem to doubt our S.A.S, merely because they don't hear them in the news, because they don't need/want to be in the news. They protect us all the time. British and proud!
SAS and SBS are the most highly trained and seasoned soldiers in the world and have served in virtually every theatre of war since WW2. US, German, Dutch and the Israeli special forces have been trained and advised by the SAS in the past. No other unit has shown the sheer guts, dedication, commitment and professionalism as these fellows. The Green Beret's and Navy Seals were originally and still are trained by the S.A S. S.A.S training is seen as the hardest most grueling training on earth.
Green Berets have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT mission: irregular and unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, etc. as I understand it, SAS is more of a direct action/small scale raids force.
Well it has been said that it has been proved so I can not awnser that question. They said it on another documentry about the SAS and I remember them saying that it is the best military force on the planet
Dream on. AMERICA CALLS THE SHOT mate. And when you're in that position, you gotta have the best tricks. Navy SEALS DEVGRU (they're fewer than DELTA) are the ones called upon when AMERICA's name is at stake. Otherwise, they can call on DELTA (which is based on your SAS) or even pass it on to SAS. Now you can see the pecking order?
Cana duh! America does call the shots, yes, but the British Government intervines in operations it seems fit too. America will know nothing about when the SAS are being deployed and where too.
These are obviously not current tactics. In saying that, the SAS and all those who fight for country are the bravest people on offer in civilisation. It's a shame that these people realistically face awful deaths.

38 months to be a SEAL: 2 months boot, 6 months BUD/S, 6 months SQT, 18 month deployment workup, 6 month deployment. only 14 months until pinned with trident though. but youre right, its a piece of cake. and you must know all about it from your experience in the royal marines and SAS

As with most Western Special Forces, the physical aspects of the selection process WILL destroy them physically; it renders them near incapable of continuing 'forward'. Then, it all becomes wholly psychological. One's mind-set and utter determination will, for sure, even in the most extreme physical/psychological circumstance', permit the recruit carry on. Its all in the mind thereafter. Some members are basically brilliant at carrying loads, hence the Bergen.
You'll be absolutely astonished at what one can achieve whist utilising and directing the correct mental/psychological approach toward a task. You will literally 'close down' and render pain stimuli near obsolete. And yet, simultaneously, the Trooper must remain utterly tactical. With repetitive training (the Killing House for example) it also becomes muscle memory too...almost a reflex-arc! 40 is definitely the new 20 MovieMad007! Best wishes.

I'm sure they would kick my head in, and they probably really are amazing warriors with great skill. But I would remind those with that attitude that many of the great empires in ancient times up til modern time had special forces groups, maybe they weren't called that but they have always existed. There's a lot of proof for that claim in the bible and other places since man recorded time and events.They done the exact same jobs same exact type of war waging and recon that modern SF's do now, just different weapons.

and the german Strumtruppen did recon,target assassination, sabotage, raids and such, and in world war 2 it was even more in depth such as dressing as enemy soldiers and changing orders and destroying allied war materials and such Im not saying the SAS isn't a big deal in the special forces or that they didnt really help. But I do find that them being the sole reason special forces exist seems to be a bit excessive
Good luck man! Ive tried for the royal marines, but failed on my eyesight (weak right eye) :( never been more disappointed. Ive since taken up electrical engineering and am hoping to get in the armed forces that route. And i guess your right, its mainly mental strength thats needed to get in the special forces, the ability to push yourself when your body tells you to quit. and no rush :)

P.Argentino/Stanley was operative till the end of war. 13th June was the last C-130 Hercules flight to continent with wounded soldiers.

The British Royal Marine Commando infants are most proffessional and elite navy in the world and undertake the hardest basic military training known to man. This training is 32 weeks long compared with the United States Marine Corps 13 weeks of training and is completed in the Marines Commando Training Centre Royal (CTCRM) to give an idea about the course training Resistance is a six mile (9.65 km) course across rough moorland and forest land in Woodbury Common near Lympstone, which includes tunnels, pipes, wading pools and a culvert under water. The course ends with a four miles (6 km) running CTCRM. Followed by a test of shooting, where the recruit must hit 6 out of 10 shots at a 25m target simulating 200 m. To be completed in 73 minutes (71 minutes for Royal Marine officers). Originally 72 minutes, these times were recently increased by one minute as the route of the course was altered this course has to be completed by recruits in full fighting order of 32 lb (14.5 kg) load carrying straps eg staff, equipment and L85A2. Steve Arthur +Simon Kveinå Thats correct. 13 weeks from civilian to rifleman. After that is specialisation for a few with specific attributes and according to manpower needs. The royal marines however are fully trained soldiers after 15 weeks BUT you cannot get the green beret until you pass the commando phase of the course Which takes up the remainder of the 32 weeks. after that its into a unit on general duties or specialisation training

I can tell the difference between various states in the US, and English-speaking Mexicans, and Canadians, and I'm over 3000 miles away. You're my hero. People always seem to doubt our S.A.S, merely because they don't hear them in the news, because they don't need/want to be in the news. They protect us all the time. British and proud!
SAS and SBS are the most highly trained and seasoned soldiers in the world and have served in virtually every theatre of war since WW2. US, German, Dutch and the Israeli special forces have been trained and advised by the SAS in the past. No other unit has shown the sheer guts, dedication, commitment and professionalism as these fellows. The Green Beret's and Navy Seals were originally and still are trained by the S.A S. S.A.S training is seen as the hardest most grueling training on earth.

Green Berets have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT mission: irregular and unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, etc. as I understand it, SAS is more of a direct action/small scale raids force.

As with most Western Special Forces, the physical aspects of the selection process WILL destroy them physically; it renders them near incapable of continuing 'forward'. Then, it all becomes wholly psychological. One's mind-set and utter determination will, for sure, even in the most extreme physical/psychological circumstance', permit the recruit carry on. Its all in the mind thereafter. Some members are basically brilliant at carrying loads, hence the Bergen.

I dont think serving in the Canadian military gives you a realistic perspective on American soldiers. The truth is, you have no idea which countries train their soldiers better than others, and Americans certainly aren't pussies, just like most militaries arent. The only factual basis is that the US has the undisputed best military in the world.

I don't understand why the SAS "has always existed, the BEST and they have trained all special forces groups for every country". I'm sure they would kick my head in, and they probably really are amazing warriors with great skill. But I would remind those with that attitude that many of the great empires in ancient times up til modern time had special forces groups, maybe they weren't called that but they have always existed. There's a lot of proof for that claim in the bible and other places since man recorded time and events.They done the exact same jobs same exact type of war waging and recon that modern SF's do now, just different weapons.

Any hand picked shock troops can be called special forces(US rangers for example) However the SAS specialized in covert operations regarding spies and recon and could be considered pioneers of it the original covert shock troops of modern warfare would be the WW1-WW2 german stormtroopers as they were trained to live in the country side and do hit and run tactics on trenches(ww1) and later millitary outposts and such

and in case you didnt get what i said, I meant that as in they may have pioneered an important element of what constitutes special forces they didnt invent the idea
and the german Strumtruppen did recon,target assassination, sabotage, raids and such, and in world war 2 it was even more in depth such as dressing as enemy soldiers and changing orders and destroying allied war materials and such

Good luck man! Ive tried for the royal marines, but failed on my eyesight (weak right eye) :( never been more disappointed. Ive since taken up electrical engineering and am hoping to get in the armed forces that route. And i guess your right, its mainly mental strength thats needed to get in the special forces, the ability to push yourself when your body tells you to quit. and no rush :)
