Can we talk about how Voctave's version is a plea: LET us adore him. The way EJ sings it, the vocals here aren't an entitlement, it's a cry for someone to LET him adore the savior. Stunningly good. I mean, yeah, the voice is amazing, that's a given, but the thing that gets me is this is a hymn. So SO many people sing it by rote. But Voctave here if you actually listen to what's going on, achieve the very rare: they actually tell the story of this very well-worn song vocally. He really does let out that cry-ish vowel at the end, not because he HAS to, but because it's appropriate to the music. That's what makes this a fantastic rendition. Yes, he has vocal chops all over the place and is a fantastic tenor. But he also has the vocal training and the vocal understanding to pick the battles he will unequivocally win. The technical skills and choices here are first-rate from the entire group.

Yes, the arrangement is out of this world good, to me it's amazing how they could gather a group of world class vocalists that compliment each other so well, and then the man that does the arrangements can squeeze every drop of their talents and technique to create a masterpiece on each song.

lol, I was cranking this in my car while parked once, an some old guy came up, mad at how loud it was, until I rolled down my window and he heard it better. then he asked me to start it over. very impressive.

I broke it out into seconds . . . . He held the lower note approximately 14 seconds then popped for another 11 seconds. He held it out for approximately 25 seconds which is ridiculous, especially while executing a crescendo to finish.

Bro, how you made it thru that entire video and didn't stop it once...self-control off the charts! HAH. Hell I had to stop it watching YOUR reaction video, and I have seen this thing a dozen times, and that is a conservative estimate. EJ is the FREAKING man. And seems SUPER humble, like to a point that he actually personally comments on ALOT of reaction videos thanking people that praise his talent and whatnot...normal, everyday dude, with INSANE skills. He deserves every bit of praise heaped upon him. Great reaction as always, thank you.

Agree the Pentatonix version is great. Voctave and Pentatonix perform two very different interpretations of the song, which to me, is the very essence of the greatness of music. Voctave's version is very traditional and reverent while Pentatonix's interpretation has a more fun, Little Mermaid vibe. PTX's interpretation is very enjoyable to watch and listen to but I don't think it creates the goose bumps this version by Voctave does because the Voctave version demonstrates straight up vocal virtuosity at a whole different level by a larger, more musically mature ensemble. Having said that, both groups are incredibly talented in their respective genres and super enjoyable to watch and listen to.

Now you have to check out their rendition of Mary, Did You Know featuring Mark Lowry (who wrote the lyrics) - simply amazing!!! - he gives EJ a run for his money when it comes to super-long notes. You will NOT be disappointed.

It was 36 beats -- 9 measures. I think you also should celebrate the arranger of all of Voctave's songs -- Jamey Ray. He's the guy standing in the back row, directly behind EJ when he steps forward for the BIG solo! He started the group and definitely knows how to bring out the very best in all of his singers and showcase their talents. Check him out .... www.jameyray.net
