Suzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre Dualjet technlogy (K12C) in 2014, initially in the Swift, and then utilised in the Baleno model in June 2016 and Ignis in early 2017. This engine is now replaced by the new K12D Dualjet unit which offers greater fuel economy and even lower CO2 emissions.
The updated K12D 1.2-litre engine powering the new Ignis features a new dual injection system and offers both powerful response and high fuel efficiency. This high-level balance is made possible through advances that include an electric intake VVT (variable valve timing), a variable displacement oil pump and electric piston cooling jets. The exhaust camshaft side is controlled via a conventional Hydraulic VVT actuator.
In summary, Dualjet incorporates Suzuki’s engine technology and uses twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy. Utilising Dualjet design that positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves allows for a finer fuel atomisation (or mixture) which in turn provides a more effective transfer into the cylinder. Internal modifications to the engine include the use of an updated design inlet port and combustion chamber.
The piston crowns have a slight bowl shape to achieve higher air turbulence inside the cylinder and cooling oil jets for the pistons help reduce internal temperatures. Additionally, an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is used which helps avoid abnormal combustion or ‘knocking’. The maximum power output is 83PS with a torque figure of 107Nm at just 2,800rpm.
Fuel efficiency is further enhanced when paired with the self-charging hybrid system powered by a new lithium-ion battery with capacity upgraded from 3Ah to 10Ah to improve energy recovery efficiency.
Available as standard equipment for all Ignis models, the upgraded 12V Hybrid system is a compact and lightweight unit that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor, the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking.
The system also uses a compact high performance lithium-ion battery placed under the front passenger seat to store energy and incorporates an idle stop function operated via the Integrated Starter Generator. The hybrid system only uses its conventional engine starter motor when first started from cold, under all other conditions it uses the ISG unit to allow smooth and quiet engine restarts. The ISG unit has a power output of 2.3kW with a torque figure of 50Nm and the components of the system add just 6.2kg to the overall weight of the car.
The ISG generates electricity more efficiently than a conventional alternator through regenerative braking which is the term given to the transfer of kinetic heat energy into electrical energy. The ISG unit detects this as soon as the brake pedal is depressed and recharges both the lithium-ion battery and conventional 12 volt battery.
For the Ignis SZ3 2WD with manual transmission the Hybrid system helps Suzuki reach a CO2 emissions figure of just 110g/km (WLTP regulation) plus achieve a fuel consumption figure of 58.0 mpg (WLTP) on the combined cycle.
This system helps to further reduce fuel consumption by cutting the supply of fuel in the interval between when the car begins to decelerate and when it starts moving again. The engine is stopped for longer periods than conventional stop start systems and operates at speeds of less than 10mph when the drivers foot is removed from the clutch pedal and the gearbox is in neutral (or when the brake pedal is fully pressed on CVT versions). The engine then restarts as soon as the clutch pedal is depressed.

This is BY FAR the best review of Suzuki Ignis available in all TH-cam.
Thanks, amazing work.
Such a detailed video, thank you you gave me more informations than all the other videos that I’ve seen !

You guys are so lucky to have cars which cost low prices. That car here in South Africa will cost at least + R230 000 .
😪😪
Pity you have a government that has managed to make your currency have no value …
Das isch es hönne guetz Video, merci viu mau.

This is obviously the top of the range Ignis. It would have been helpful if you had told us of the differences with the other models in the range.
Yea i have in plan to do a comparison 👍
Helpful views, thanks
Thanks also for feedback 👍
This is what we call a great review
Thanks for feedback my friend 👍 🙏
A very thorough review 👍
Glad you liked it🙏Thanks for feedback
How much fuell consumption compare convetional engine..?
After 15.000 km the Suzuki Ignis Dual Injection 16V Mild Hybrid Comfort Plus, Highest trim Level, is better and better.
5 manual gears, running in under 12 s up to 100 kmh.
Max speed is over 165 kmh.
With a peak over 175 kmh on a flat street.
Down the hill 180 kmh can be on Tachometer, GPS corrected 170 kmh i think.
15" wheels, alloy, i changed to be fast in the City!
Yes true
Everybody should have one
Yea 👍
Personally, i just don't like suzuki's, they have a very unique design and it's not for my taste.
However, i can understand who likes it and this hybrid car is a good bet.
Great review as always! I'm a subscriver since dacia sandero stepway and i actually bought one!
Keep the good work sir.
Thanks for feedback my friend 👍 🙏 really appreciate your support
Marrante cette petite Suzuki Ignis Merci Dan
Merci ami 👍🙏
Uh actually i know from the older ignis model(2016 to 2020) the lower spec car has 2,5 seats in the back but that's at the cost of the rails to move the 2 back seats front and back... so it's basicly a trade off...
The ribs/addidas styling is actually a refrence to the classic suzuki gx and the squares on the grill of the facelifted model is also a refrence to the jimny...
I got my Ibiza for CHF 16k in 2019, you could get a Leon for 21k, I wonder if the salaries kept up with such price hikes...
I hope the salaries will grow as well ...otherwise is bad 😪
Torque figure is 35Nm E-Boost in German test " auto motor sport " from Stuttgart.
Where did you find 50Nm? Or is it a peak figure?
I read the official numbers....I will check again
which version of the car are you reviewing ?
I cant remember but I have all info's in video
How many goats or stolen sheep will fit in back in South Africa
A few 🙂
A bride price amount👍😁
If you take the all grip versions is there somewhere a option to disable the all grip?
What's your comparision between this Suzuki Ignis ans the Fiat Panda Cross (or "City-Cross" ?, i'm talking about the confort on road over all things. About mensurations, particularly; as i'm a person with handicap and also posseding a garage with a max of 1.8 m. for accessiong. Many thanks. 1,80 m. Merci.
Very similar both....hard to say ....

Hii,
Could you please tell me, in this car from where we can activate mirror heating 😊
They are turned on with the switch on the central dashboard, under the air conditioner.
I guess the gearbox is not a CVT but an automated manual. I've owned a few AM's and they always end up in a 'dont' know which gear is best' at roundabouts or junctions. Most AM's lurch into first gear when you needed second gear to pull away swiftly, in my opinion.
Good point!👍
I can only speak for the UK but the later models do actually have CVT as the auto option now. I am trading in my older transmission model for the same problems that you have mentioned which is called AGS over here but is the same as AMT. My only problem with my present Ignis is the AGS system. Otherwise it is a great little car.
Indonesia belum ada yg begini
I have a question did the Led headlights light up the road well at night on the motorway?
Yes indeed.
Comparing the price in India
