Lol I was thinking the same thing. Like if some man rode haunted mansion and decided they wanted to try to remake it but had a much smaller budget and had forgotten the details

This ride feels like it was designed by someone who had Phantom Manor @ Disneyland Paris explained to them very thoroughly, but the explanation was delivered via can-and-string phone and the listener was on cocaine.
The caller was also on cocaine. As was both cans.

This ride is older than Phantom Manor and Disneyland Paris. Opened 1982. But of course still inspired by Haunted Mansion.
Although they clearly “borrowed” ideas from another well know ride and the theming is all over the place, still looks like an entertaining ride. It’s better than most boardwalk and carnival Haunted House rides.
Damn, what a shame... there's obviously a lot of production value behind this and tons of potential. But instead of designing something fresh and new, they just completely and blatantly ripped off Disney with nothing to add to it. Imagine if they took all these resources and tried to create instead of imitate.
Well considering how many times Disney ripped others off, it's time the same was done to them.
Well, keep in mind this ride is 40 years old, back when the park had just started out. They've now built many high quality darkrides, like pirates in batavia, the most recent addition (which is obviously inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean, but follows a very different storyline and aesthetic) or the can can coaster, which - while found inside a huge epcot like ball, is actually a rollercoaster instead of a darkride like the original in epcot.
No worries guys, Europa-Park fans know this is a horrible Disney Knock-off, but it's quite a guilty pleasure anyways. Bitte bitte

OK yeah the stretching room and ride vehicles are completely the same and while it's not as cool as Disney's haunted mansion, this still looks preety sick, I liked the more gory and tone this one had, and I would like to ride this one day.
They also did the "lower budget" version of the ghosts waltzing room (without peppers ghost trick), and the projected faces on the singing statutes... Some of the rooms were too cluttered, and it suffers from inconsistent theming - what story is this ride telling? No idea. Some nice tricks and sick layout though.

What a rip-off. That said, I never tire of ghost trains, no matter how shabby. And this one is pretty impressive, actually. Maybe not too original -- but this is the case with many, many haunts.
What an awful stealing of ideas and copy from Disney's Haunted Mansion! Moreover, it is done in an awful way in which the effects are terrible and have no match to what Disney's Imageneering staff achieved. I am not from the USA and I am not an especially Disney company fan, but one must acknowledge this is probably a copyright infringement and on top of that awfully performed.
Man, when people copy Disney poorly, it only emphasizes how incredible Disney innovates

The whole Europa Park is basically inspired by Disney parks. This is just one of them. They have great coasters though and the park has it's charm but yeah you immediately can tell they got inspired by Disney.
They took the best of Haunted Mansion, Phantom Manor and classic haunted house scares and made this masterpiece. I love it! 😂❤
Gives me some Pirates of the Caribbean vibes too (especially the guy at the beginning), also the doom buggies look more like the little mermaid omnimover shells haha

They could almost claim that it's merely took inspiration from the Haunted Mansion. But the Stretching Room completely ruins all credibility to that claim.
I love Geisterschloss for what it is and i always go on there first whenever i visit but it reminds too much of Haunted Mansion, Phantom Manor. It could really use a renovation and a story.

This ride has some sexy beautiful details all over ,since the whole ride has different lighting. Wow. Wish haunted mansion at Disney would be fully immersed with extra extra details. So much emptiness when the lights are on
For all people wondering: This Haunted Mansion is located at Europapark, Germany, and currently gets a completely new makeover. It will open again this month.
This ride is so creepy, the ugly animatronics make this experience terrifier with potential to destroy any memory somebody has from Disney's Haunted Mansion

This is the problem with haunted castle dark rides. They all copy those same gags and ideas from each but not considering if they make sense. The haunted mansion works because it’s consistently trying to keep the same theme.
What a confusing mess - how hard is it to come up with your own ideas without shamelessly ripping off Disney?
Complete with the COPYCAT stretching room, but without "Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding" and no Grimm Grinning Ghosts

The ride looks better in this video than in real life. But there‘s one thing that could can easily see: it‘s completely overloaded and the animatronics are lame. There’s been rumors for years now that they are planing a complete makeover.
Ghost Castle Dark Ride is a bad Disney ride ripoff
While i really like the Ghost Castle in Europa Park, i think it desperately needs an overhaul.
Recently they added so much stuff that the ride doesn´t feel inconsistent with it´s own theme.
For example they added this guy at 1:29. Before that it was an terrifying "Facility Manager" with it´s old dog barking, which fits way better then this puppet. Also i think that all these added Monitor stuff like you see at 2:18 is often questionable. The Sorcerer at 4:28 was originally at the queue at 0:10. Now there´s a .... "Pirate" for unknown reasons. But i think that has something to do with the Pirate Ride burned down and they had this puppet left from it.
Europa Park has some of the best rides in terms of themes from any theme parks (well, from the ones i know), but this ride here feels sometimes out of place.

This is 40 years old after all, I think its nice they're keeping it up instead of just shutting it down and replacing it. The park has built much nicer original modern attractions since.

I know Europe has amazing horror stories. Germany has the darkest children's stories that they can easily implement. "The Marksman", "The Pied Piper of Hameln", "The White Woman", the original GERMAN VERSION of the "Sorcerer's Apprentice", "The Golem", etc. The original Haunted Mansion and Phantom Manor had a narrative about the previous owners and how they died, and the ride incorporated that story. This felt like a poor copy with a random assortment to differentiate itself ENOUGH from the originals.

OMG I LOVE love LOVE love this ride! Europa park will be a must do. Of course CAN CAN. But this takes the cake. It is like... home made Haunted Mansion and it is awesome! Love the spiral up scene! What a weird stretching room. Love the loading. It looks far more compact than Haunted Mansion. Even door knockers. And singing busts! YES!
