We have several decent Italian restaurants in the Portland, OR metro area, but I know of one near one of the live music venues where the owners are Neapolitan. Dinner there brought me right back to my time in Naples (heaven!) I'm curious about the use of clam juice. My concern is that it will add a 'fishy' flavor to the dish. I love shrimp, though I am a bit of a chicken when it comes to cooking it as I want to make sure I cook it right and don't end my night in the 'room of contemplation'(!) but I don't want the dish to be fishy either.
@@lisamuir2091 I just scoured the map and sadly it appears to have become a victim of the lockdowns as it is no longer there (trust me I am silently grieving at the moment as well...) On the other hand, there is a Middle Eastern restaurant called DarSalam that is on NE Alberta St, near the Alberta Rose Theater, that is fantastic as well.
Hi Stephen! We're not fans of 'fishy' dishes either, (especially Wesley), and we promise the clam juice doesn't add a fish taste at all. But honestly, if you're concerned, just leave it out! It add a depth of flavor, but there is so much other flavor going on in this dish, you won't miss it! We hope you give it a try!
@@HowToFeedaLoon I went ahead an made this tonight (with the clam juice which I did a bit of research on so felt better about using it and not getting the fishy taste) and it went together pretty well. I recently bought a 12 quart pasta pot (game changer!) and got everything together. Turns out that if you forget to cook the garlic, you can still cook it in a separate pan and then mix in the shrimp later and still get that garlic shrimp taste (phew!) but otherwise really good. In all my time in Italy and wherever I have never had a shrimp pasta dish because of my fear that it would be fishy and a waste. Turns out I was wrong (who knew!?!)
