    Great vid. Amazing scenery. I particularly like your choice of atmospheric music. So rare on TH-cam. Usually we get the thump, thump thump techno beat which is such a turn-off....literally. All the best from the UK.

    Love the pronghorn antelope. Did you see any wild horses south of Atlantic City, Wyoming? Love the Great Divide area. Nothing else matches it, in America, for scenery. This is a very nice video. That Banff- Jasper area is also great for scenery. Thanks again.

    • @PedalPowerAdventures
      @PedalPowerAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did see some wild horses which was amazing but by the time I got the camera out they were not close enough to get any good video. We totally agree there is nothing so far we have ridden that beats the scenery of the Great Divide it is such an awesome route. Also agree on Banff area, really amazing, have not been to Jasper area yet.

      @@register1430 Thanks for the sub. There is a sketchy tunnel at the end of the trail that we went through then not too long after that you come to Delmoe Lake Rd. go right then to the Sketcy TwoTrack to Blacktail Canyon Rd. that meets back to the GDMBR route.

      @@PedalPowerAdventures looks like the road is conveniently called Continental Dr. What a great little detour. I think Butte is worthy of some extra time to explore. So Part 3 is waiting for final edit to finish the series?

      @PedalPowerAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      reg ister Butte is a pretty sweet town from our limited time there, defiantly want to go back and ride their mountain bike trails. Part 3 of the GDMBR is going to have to wait until 2021 due to Covid, New Mexico was making anyone who enters quarantine for 14 days. However we did just get back from riding the 1,000 mile Arkansas High Country route which was pretty awesome and will have multiple videos out on that pretty soon.

    Hey man! Long time no see old friend... so cool to run into you on TH-cam of all places! And by the way, this is a cool channel you've got going here too. Some of the footage I've seen in this video is just breathtaking! I've always pondered trying something like this myself, but I'm quite sure it take years of training and conditioning to travel such huge distances. Maybe we could catch up at some point in the future... I'd love to pick your brain about everything involved with such journeys.
    Hope all is well with you and your family, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy 2020!

I see you are still into music and enjoyed watching your videos which are really good by the way. I remember when you first got a guitar and your brother was into drumming, pretty cool. Seeing the country by bicycle is awesome and if you have the desire you should give it a try for sure. There are tons of new bikepacking routes springing up all over the USA, it’s the perfect time to go for it. Happy 2020!

    Amazing video!!!!! Really great work here! I feel like I actually did the ride myself.
    Had a quick question. I have never camped in my life but I love cycling and recently picked up a touring bike. Something about the idea of touring and bikepacking resonates with me but here's my problem..........I have a very serious fear of encountering a bear out there by myself.
    I know there are bear whistles and bear spray but I just don't have much confidence in those things.
    Did you guys have any close-call wildlife encounters out there?

    • @PedalPowerAdventures
      @PedalPowerAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the nice comment! Trust me we were worried about bears and did everything we could while riding and camping at night to not have a bad bear encounter. Don’t know if it really helps but made us feel better and we just tried to not worry about it. This year we didn’t see any bears and last year we saw one bear while riding in the flathead wilderness in Canada. No issues with wildlife. The GDMBR is such an awesome adventure and experience, it’s well worth sleeping around bears at night, lol. Not sure if you know about these websites and I’m sure there are plenty more but bikepacking.com and crazyguyonabike.com are two good resources. The crazy guy website is a place where people upload their touring/bikepacking journals which sometimes helps with planning and just seeing what people are doing. We have a journal on this website: www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/GBMR2019. Good luck with your adventures, touring by bicycle is an awesome way to travel around and see this amazing country. Ride on!

    What a beautiful video!........why did you choose 27.5 over 29 plus? I’m looking at ECR’s but I can’t decide which size tires

    • @PedalPowerAdventures
      @PedalPowerAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the nice comment, much appreciated. I may have a unique reason for choosing the 27.5+ ECR's, I originally wanted to get 29+ but my wife is only 5'2" and they don't make the 29+ in small. Since I always like to have the same equipment on both bikes to keep everything simple and be able to swamp parts if needed, we went with the 27.5+. This will probably not help with your decision, sorry about that. Iv'e never ridden a 29+ bike so I cannot give you a comparison between the two.

  • @tomfrohlich123

    If you had 3 weeks open to ride, where would start to get the best ride?

    • @PedalPowerAdventures
      @PedalPowerAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a hard question to answer without knowing your logistics as it varies for each person. My recommendation is to start at the beginning in Banff or Jasper and ride south as far as you can in three weeks. This way it will set you up if you want to do the entire route like we did. Canada was our favorite section BTW. Thanks for the question and for watching. Ride on!

    Sorry for the late question, how long did you go between restocking supplies? Is there a place that you list the gear you carried with you? Loved the videos. Was really cool to see someone break up the great divide over some time rather than 1 shot.

    • @PedalPowerAdventures
      @PedalPowerAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      William, no worries on the late question, thanks for watching and the question. We carried enough food for 3 days, however we never had to go 3 days without seeing a restaurant, gas station or grocery store based on the mileage we did per day. Most days we could find a restaurant to get a second breakfast or late lunch and if there was an option to hit a restaurant at the days end point we did not pass it up. We have an online journal for both 2018 and 2019 and are located online at: www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=1mr&doc_id=21158&v=Dm and www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=1mr&doc_id=22238&v=Fp We get into more detail of the trip and list our gear there. Ride On!
