    I enjoyed how realistic this video is. The balance of big kids and little kids. The sound of kids in the house. The business and happiness of it all. Very encouraging about what home schooling looks like. Thanks for a little look into your family.

    I love it! Your children have an abundance of things to learn in your space! We live in a small house with a pretty small yard, but we are using our space well by tending to the plants in our yard and starting a garden this year. We also love to spend a lot of unstructured play time at county/state parks and nature centers. I love the inspiration to teach what is available! Thank you for sharing!

    I love your homeschool space!! We live on 5 acres so there is definitely a lot of outside time and I love that! We just got chickens again so my nine-year-old wants to spend a lot of time outside with the chickens!! My older daughter who's now an adult, and a mama herself, used to love to do the same thing! She would take her school books out and sit on a stump in the chicken yard and do her school. :-) My nine-year-old also likes to spend time by our pond. She catches all kinds of critters and the goldfish that we put in it. LOL! My 11 year old daughter likes to do things like build forts, practice archery, and sometimes build things. where also working on a small garden. We've had goats, pigs and bunnies over the years. We'll probably get some more of those in the future too. Sometimes when it's nice out, we do our sit-down school time in our gazebo. We all enjoy that! When we lived in the city, our boys did the things that you mentioned: they worked on their bikes and our younger son loved taking things apart!! Whittling was also something that one of my sons did. We've always used our inside and our outside space. Most of the inside schooling is done on the couch or in recliners. Sometimes in blanket forts or in my bed on a cozy rainy day or if I'm not feeling well. We do have times when we use the table or our breakfast counter too. Learning pretty much happens anywhere in or out of the house! Oh, can't forget in the car or in waiting rooms at appointments! LOL! When we were helping to care for my parents, there were quite a few doctors appointments so waiting-room school was a common thing that we did. We had a bag all packed and ready to go, we just slipped that day's school into it. Again, flexibility is the key, isn't it?! Great video! Sorry, didn't mean to make that comment so long but where homeschooling happens for us isn't just a cut-and-dry statement. :-)

I like to watch your vlogs. I'm finished my schooling days as I'm 55.and my girls are in their 30s now. But I love to watch and still learn all about ways of teaching. Thank you . Love your vlogs. And your children too. James and his mixing song was soooo adorable . Take care all xx

    Today's video was incredible !!!! we loved everything you showed, as they have advanced on the property. I hope you can build your house soon.
    We live in a small apartment in the city and we have a
    a tiny terrace, where unfortunately we do not have sun, therefore we cannot cultivate.
    The extra jobs my children do is to control household expenses, to put in good condition the toys they no longer use to donate, they recycle clothes and everything that is useful for the house or for those who need it, cooking.
    Thanks again for sharing your videos. Blessings.

    We live in a city but in a house with a decent size yard. My homeschooler (16) is very art focused. I try to make sure she has art supplies. The budget is tight right now, but at the beginning of our school year I got her drawing pencils, a few different types of sketch books (including one that's 18" x 24"!). She has some paints, but she's working on her drawing mostly. She does her schoolwork in her room, my room, the kitchen, and sometimes on the porch. She still enjoys Lego and recently discovered she likes looking around our yard taking nature picture (I need to get her a camera!). Because of this series your doing I talked with my daughter and we're going to switch up here curriculum next year. I've already registered her for her math and spanish, but she's also going to take a computer course where she's going to learn computer basics, coding, 2D and 3D art, and will have projects to work on. Also, I found a chemistry course that uses food and recipes to teach chemistry and incorporates doing a sketch journal. I'm going to try and incorporate more art next year and make sure she has time to persue other interests. She only has a couple more years and I want her to be able to explore and discover what really interests her. Thanks for sharing! It's been a great inspiration for me.

    We are not a homeschooling family but the current situation has changed things a bit. My daughter is 16 and in the 10th grade and goes to public school. She is doing all her school work online for the last 2 months. I have added a few things to help keep her from burning out. We have been watching "The Shows must go on" on you tube and have been able to enjoy Broadway musicals.A few weeks ago we observed the space station fly over our area and yesterday we saw the Blue Angels. Really enjoyed seeing these things with my daughter.

    I've been watching your channel for ages but don't usually comment! Thank you for all of the great videos lately! I especially love this one!
    While my house is admittedly bigger, it is still "small" by today's standards and we don't have the space for a dedicated homeschool room. I love seeing tours of multi-use spaces and seeing ideas for storage/display of homeschool work! I love the rack for the art!
    I also love that you're also in MO as I love seeing ideas for logs/hours tracking! We are in the STL area too :)
    Anyway, stay safe and well and keep up the great work with the videos!

    We too live in the country! We are 4th generation (at least😁) cattle ranchers. We live on 560 acres in rural Nebraska but since we are surrounded by family and cousins (Thank you Grandpa!) my 7 very blessed kiddos get to traverse the countryside. We have creeks, mini forests, and lots of wildlife. This is where I grew up, but the first 12 years of marriage were spent elsewhere in the state surrounded by cornfields and flatland, and I prayed and dreamed to be here again until God made it possible. Like yours, our kids spend most of their days outside hunting, growing, building, and discovering. I agree that homeschooling is constantly changing to fit the season/circumstance your in or the personalities/interests of your kiddos. I've tried both Delight directed, and year round homeschooling before but got nervous and returned to more familiar territory during the school year. Lately I've been toying with the idea of revisiting both. Maybe this year, with all its changes and less distractions away from home will be a good year to do just that!

    • @jasonandjulie
      @jasonandjulie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you have the perfect set up for your children to grow and learn! Mixing delight directed learning with a few daily requirements from me has been the right thing for me. God is so faithful to guide us in our homeschooling journey. It sounds like he has already convicted your heart of the way you should go to allow your children to thrive ❤️

    • @suzyq496
      @suzyq496 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasonandjulie Julie, on rereading my comment I felt like it sounded like I was bragging. Sorry about that! Like you said, no matter your living arrangements there are lots of ways to think outside the box about education and instill that love of learning in our kids. I DO think God is showing me what direction to go but I'm struggling with what that should look like. This year I will have a 9th grader who will be doing something different than the rest of his siblings for the first time. That in itself is throwing me for a loop. The younger kids will be studying World geography and cultures. We use My Father's World curriculum as a loose guideline. I want to make it fun and memorable, not a drudge. Something you said about digging deeper into just one subject instead of just touching lightly on 3 or 4...that stuck with me! Thank you!

    Unrelated question, for Bella, I think. Do you leave the chicks and bunnies in the triangle tractor during the night? Are you concerned about something getting to the chicks and bunnies from underneath? In central Ohio we have red foxes, minks and skunks that will dig under the tractor to get to the animals! We have to put welded wire around the top of the tractor (our raccoons will rip up the chicken wire, it's too weak) AND the bottom to keep them protected from diggers. However, we plan to raise our meat bunnies in tractors like your's from weaning till roasting so I love your design, but we'd have to "fortify" it a bit for our location.

    • @jasonandjulie
      @jasonandjulie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t have those animals commonly come around but it has happened a couple times in past years. They are planning to add the welded wire to the tractor. Originally our tractor was going to be just a daytime spot for them, when our dog is outside with them. Right now they’ve been in it at night too, until they have a separate hutch type thing built. So much to do! 🤪
