Other possibilities include:
1) Because it amplifies it's own sonic attacks, it has resistance to sonic attacks by being designed to amplify and redirect sound.
2) It's own sound is cancelling out the incoming sonic attacks partially, buffering the incoming damage.
3) It takes half damage from sound-based attacks, because it doesn't listen to you and just does what it wants, man.
Number 2 is my theory. Because it's constantly strumming it's chest, outbound sound dampens incoming sound and thus reduces the damage it takes from sonic attacks. I also think that is why it's sound based attacks do more damage. THe strumming of it's chest creates sound that resonates with the frequency of it's sound based attacks and amplifies the wave form, making it louder.
Or maybe it's just used to hearing loud sounds #MAYBE

I agree with number two, it creates sound waves every time so there is a force field made of sound, so it amplifies your own sound and dampens that are not.
It is reducing the damage but not the non-damage effect such as growl. I never seen the status moves that are effects are halved. I know it can be amplified or totally cancelled but not reduced.
Also sound based status moves are depended on the enemy's ears, while damage moves doesn't need ears, it just hit the attacks through the skin. Also there is no such way to halve the status move effects, so this Hearing loss video is not totally correct. It needs it remake.

I had an Amped Toxtricity and the first time I saw a Low Key form one in a raid battle, I thought it was shiny but didn't "shine". I was so confused.

In high school I've been playing in a band, on every practice I was standing next to drums on my right. Some time later I realized I don't hear higher sound of cymbals in my right ear when I was at a gig, everybody was enjoying music and I was turning my head and covering ears to figure out what's going on. Since then I always have my earplugs by keychain to be able to use them at any time, hearing loss is serious issue folks!

Toxtricity is a god in competitive. Throat Spray Punk Rock with Boomburst and Overdrive make it ridiculously overpowered.
I know, both forms currently sit at OU. But I think that this position won't last if Landorus comes back in the expansion pass, as Toxtricity is destroyed by pretty much any Ground move.
I just learned about throat spray like yesterday, was gonna give it to slyveon but it's got the wrong ability so thanks for that.

Ironically, I have impaired hearing and my choice of music is metal, so in my 30 years I have heard so people say to me so many times; "So let me guess, your hearing is bad because you listen to loud music?" but no, it's been bad since I was a small child only a few years of age. I had MANY recurring ear inflammations resulting in hearing impairment.
This was a really good video and I even think I can use it to explain to others how my hearing works, since it is as in one of your examples where in a quiet room I can hear sounds but as soon as there are noices from different things or a few voices speaking at the same time, it all becomes just nothing more than noice. That way my biggest problem because of my hearing is conversations..

I got tinnitus that seems permanent (about 9 months so far...) from metal but I can hear fine. I don't think I hear any worse than I did before. I just additionally hear things that aren't there

Bass is very unappreciated compared to guitar
I’ve gained a larger and larger sense of appreciation for the bass or even bassy notes in general in music over recent years. They add so much to a musical piece.
I do, too, at least battle-wise. Toxtricity’s form depends on what nature it has, and when looking at the groups, Amped’s nature is usually physical-based (adamant and jolly) while Low-Key’s nature tends to be special-based (modest and timid). Thus, since it has a higher special attack than physical, and since Overdrive and Boomburst are special attacks, Low-Key form is more suited for the Punk Rock ability.
@@michaelnelson1127 I love special attacks-I'm a hardcore fire type, fairy, ghost and electric lover. I love just going IN and getting OUT. Special Sweepers are just mmmmmm I love it. Low Key Toxtricity is RIGHT up my ally for my style of battling.

I understand the hearing loss when listening to Rock and Punk Music. I was a Rock radio DJ in college for a few years and we were able to blast music in the super awesome speakers in the station as serious levels. That and the concerts I went to, have damaged my hearing a bit.

I’ve always assumed the Toxtricity’s protrusions on their chest were its literal heartstrings in a way. Or at least somewhere connected to the heart.

edit: I got like 40 likes which is the closest I've come to going viral so let me just say, for fucks sake wear earplugs at concerts. I went to like 25 concerts and my ears rang for an hour or two after and I thought it was fine. After the next one it never stopped, and that one wasn't particularly loud. This damage adds up and you don't ven realize it

@@gregorymirabella1423 I sleep with waterfall/shower noises. Noise machines are too low pitched, the noise I hear is about 10.75 khz but something about water trickling has frequencies around there.
edit: I mean that the two white noise machines I've tried are too low pitched. I just play a 10 hour long youtube video of shower noises every night.
@@gregorymirabella1423 Yes, both. I prefer a fan as it's *less* likely to sound tinny, but there are times when the ringing (or the occasional humming, but that's more manageable) just overpowers anything. Or were you asking the OP?

Even though it's a penguin, it's apparently partially based on a great auk, a now-extinct British seabird that looked like a penguin. Like the great auk, Eiscue floats with just its head out of the water. When the auk floated like this, its head got covered in snow, Eiscue's ice head brings this to mind. I didn't make this up, someone wrote this on Bulbapedia.
I think Toxtricity takes less damage from sound just because its own sound is louder than what its opponent produces, so it gets drowned out.
Also, your Lucario comment made me suddenly want Toxtricity in Smash. It would be way more interesting than Cinderace is gonna be.

As a sufferer of Tinnitus myself, I can tell you that hearing ringing in your ears constantly is a pain in the ass and so even a little information like this to shed light on it helps. Now if there was only a cure for it... which there isn't.

I'm glad there's a more punk rock basis on toxtricity because at the start, where I first saw it, I literally saw it as game freak trying to fill out unused type combinations. Toxtricity, the poison and electric type pokemon. This pokemon has the astonishing ability to be both poison and electric type.
I was mostly listening to the video, and in the middle of it I looked at my phone to see Lockstin... well with some interesting and unexpected style

toxtricity was definitely my fav new Pokemon... they just look so cool !! and I love how the low key form is a bass guitar and the amped up form is an electric.... its good character design.
I actually created an electric/poison punk rock opossum fakemon years ago so it was super nice to use a punk rock mon of that type on my team.

I love these kinds of videos! The use of real life science from a pokemon perspective is a brilliant move! As a bonus fact, another type of hearing loss can be associated with "Cleft palate". Where fluids builds up in the "middle ear" due to the facial muscles being all weird. It doesn't really have anything to do with Toxtricity but it's still interesting! Keep up the amazing work!

Tbh tho low-key in this sense is being used in the pre-slang way, as a bass guitar usually has a more low-key presence and vibe in songs' mixes than the more higher pitched standard electric guitar.

Amped-Up and Low-Key are referring to music, not the stupid slang uses.

NoIce, however, is definitely meant to be a fellow kids moment. Why have them put together like that and not have it be like "Shattered" or "Melted" form. Even when put together NoIce form just sounds weird. "Ice" and "No Ice" just doesn't feel right to me, they could've done a better term even if its not meant to be fellow kids.

I love Toxtricity, it was so useful during my play through of Shield and the Pokémon that showed me that Nuzzle can actually be a really good move.

Going blind into shield and finfint toxel, I thought it was a cute looking Pokémon. Caught it, saw the typing and loved it. And when it evolved it turned into the low key form, I fell in love. As a bassist, the surprise really made me happy and it stuck with the team all the way through
I was hoping a Toxtricity video would go into a little more detail about punk music and culture. Then again you did touch on that with the Galatian Zigzagoon video. The hearing loss stuff is really interesting, though, so thanks!
This is an interesting and very informative theory, but I thought earlier in the video that it takes half damage from sound base attacks because it uses own sound to partially cancel it. (Sound is a wave, and adding a secondary wave could either dampen it, increase it, or straight up cancel it.)

Toxel immediately became my favorite pokemon and Toxtricity is great by association.
I drew some gijinkas of all 3 and while looking up punk fashion, as it's the punk pokemon, I realised there are countless design similarities!
As someone who works in the hearing health care, this is an interesting take on the Pokemon, and I'm glad people get some insight into hearing loss.
I would argue however that if we're trying to think of a real Toxictricity, it would make more sense that they are born with insulated ears to protect themselves from their own sound. They can't hear well because their ears may be covered by some hard covering. Imagine if being living in loud environments evolved to have organic ear muffs to protect them.
The way I think of it is that it's rocking out so hard that sound doesn't affect it that much.
I love the Amped form! I used one in both my Sword and Shield playthroughs. So great.

I think that the loud punk rock drowning out the other sounds could also be another explanation for the halved sound damage.

I made a Pokémon rock band in Shield with Obstagoon as the singer, both Toxtricity forms as the guitarist and bassist, Rillaboom as the drummer, and Noivern and Flygon as the amps.
I love punk rock!! So when this Pokémon came out I was very excited!!
My chorus teacher told the class a story about someone going deaf (I don’t think completely) due to the fire alarms and the fact the chorus room helps amplify sound

I have two Low key variants in my game that I used frequently. I like to call them
“Lethal Injection”
and
“The Electric Chair.”
I got one at the daycare, and one in a gold raid max battle thinking it would be able to gigantimax (it didn’t not until I got the isle of armor) I didn’t have the heart to release him so I had the two specialize with types. The male one for poison the female one for electric. Hence their unofficial nicknames because I don’t nickname Pokémon anymore.

This punk rock lizard is my favorite Electric type in generations. Sure, Rotom is pretty clever as long as it's not in an appliance with a speaker attached, but the sheer attitude of Toxtricity put it over the edge in my books.
I love Toxtricity. Probably only because I had a Toxel in my party since route 5. It turned out to be extremely useful.
In the Pokémon world, it seems there is a Pokémon type associated with a specific genera of music, for example: Punk is Poison, Glam Rock is Dark; POP, techno or EDM is Electric; Opera is Water; Requiem/ Sacred/ Funeral music is ghost and so on.
