I like how you mentioned dental health :) I'm a dental assistant! So many people brush off dental health. But it's so important and it affects the rest of your body

I became obsessed with dental care after I cracked and broke several teeth! Just got a 6 toothbrush supply I searched and searched for. Gum soft with these long bristles that really clean the gum line!

For anyone in the UK, you are able to get a prescription for Finacea 15% Azelaic Acid from The Independent Pharmacy, an online service where you fill in a questionnaire, upload photos of your face/symptoms, and this is reviewed by a dermatologist who can approve prescription where appropriate and the cream/gel is sent next day delivery. This saved on trying to get an appointment with a GP (anyone in London knows how hard that can be) also saved on the cost of having an actual appointment with a Dermatologist which was not in my budget at this time, although under normal circumstances I would prefer to have that 1:1 time with a Derm!
I just started on my 15% Azelaic Acid and I am seeing better results than with my previous version from The Ordinary 10%.
As a dentist, thank you for the plug about dental hygiene! Everything you said is so true. Yes, there is an association between gum disease/health and diabetes/heart health. Flossing is super duper important!!! Take care!
Has a causal relationship ever been established between gum disease/health and diabetes/heart health? Seems obvious that people who don't care about oral health would also not care about other aspects of their health, but genuinely curious to know.

fellow dentist here! you're absolutely right! especially a lot of research has been done showing the direct relationship between gum health and diabetes! controlling either one also improves the other. best wishes to all other dentists out there during these times.. we are so high risk being in such close distant to people's mouths so most work has halted. i'm still treating emergencies though so the anxiety is very present! stay sane and safe folks :)

Feeling very validated in my skincare routine right now! Use my finacea in the am after my cerave moisturizer and followed by my tinted sunscreen. And in the pm my tretinoin and cerave moisturizer.. all products have been Dr.dray approved and my skin has been amazing !!
What results you seen?
Dynamite Dynamite I used epiduo for a few months to clear up my crazy acne and the last few months have been keeping my skin clear by using the tretinoin and azelaic acid. The azelaic acid helped with my hyperpigmentation.

There is definitely a connection between your mouth and your body and body systems. I have lupus. One thing that my rheumatologist has me do is use a water pick every night and get cleanings every 3 months. I definitely see a difference in my levels when I have missed a cleaning, have a cavity, etc. I also notice a difference in the acne around my jaw, etc when I’m not keeping up on my dental care.

You are absolutely right about gum disease and heart disease. I worked many years in cardiac cath and you wouldn’t believe how often we could tell when someone was going to have diseased arteries before we even imaged them just based on a smile! 😳

Hello Dr. Dray I had a hyperpigmentation issue on my upper lip area due to inflammation from eczema and for about 3 months now I used vit. C serum along with azelaic acid (skinoren) 3 times a day and of course sunscreen with zinc and my hyperpigmentation is almost in past! I'm very happy with my results!!! YAY! YOU TRIED MY FAVORITE DENTAL FLOSS! I buy the 6 pack of the Dr.Tungs dental floss on amazon and it keeps me stocked for about 4-5 months.
Today should be deep cleaning day but it’s laundry and work day instead. I’m doing 12+ hour days every week working from home and weekend work every weekend. Dealing with virus related issues has really increased the workload for some of us. I’m still very lucky I can WFH as can my husband. TH-cam videos like these help keep me sane. ( setting up the groups on a table, talk about each group - the procedure of your recommended products). When watching all the great product recommendations, I can get confused as to how and when to use them ( ex. For anti-aging. What products. Cleansing and moisturizer ... etc. what’s best for the am routine. Pm routine. Once a wk or month. what to use for the wrinkles forehead , corners of month, smile lines, crows feet. When do you apply that. Sunscreen). Love your pink heart cooking pan! All your material is very good. I’m learning about skin and products. Love your humor too. 😄

We get this in NZ too. Bought one recently have been very impressed. Considering Paula's Choice is not an easy brand to get over here this was the alternative & better option

Hi all, because I'm pretty sensitive I alternate nights. MWF Differin, TThSa Azelaic Acid, Sunday I take a break and just moisturize. I only use sunscreen in the morning.

My flossing game has improved from 1-2 days a week to 7 days lol. Thanks quarantine! Johnson & Johnson listerine waxed floss is my fave. Coco floss is nice too. But I can bet your dentists office is being negatively affected by this shutdown. Where I live the governing body of dentists is super strict and have been closed since March 16. So glad my mom and I got our teeth cleaned in February.

i absolutely love azelaic acid! i use the paula’s choice 10% booster and have had great results for my acne, but i really really would love to use the 20% concentration. my skin was very dry and very very sensitized when i started using it and i feel its anti-inflammatory properties have helped both my sensitivities and my acne!
That’s how I started too with the PC Azelaic Acid! Then when I got 15% Finacea it was a game changer. It’s definitely strong so you’d need to hydrate a lot.

I use a water floss. My teeth are very sensitive and always bleed when washing. Maybe placebo but I take magnesium chewable and I do feel a difference. Sadly I been out for the last few days and my teeth be wonky.

I love azeliac acid - this has really helped with my acne ( in combination with tretinoin) . I have sensitive skin and it felt like everything would cause me to break out more or a rash. This was the first product my skin responded very well too!
Sorry to bother you, but do you mind sharing how did you use both alongside? Did you use them together on the same routine, used on different days, or maybe one at the morning and other at the night?
Confeitoterapia sure ! I use azelic acid twice a day ( am and pm routine) every day. I use tretinoin only in the PM every day.

Gran Turismo no problems. I’ve also been on this routine for three years so I worked through all the irritation (peeling, flaking, redness). Every once in a while I have a slight stinging sensation that’s goes away pretty quickly.
Didn't the tretinoin irritate your sensitive skin? How did you manage that?

Differin destroyed my skin. It made my face breakout way worse then it was and it left me with erythema. Could azelaic acid be the answer? I’ve been thinking about it for awhile. Also I finally just found some bleach finally! You’re definatly not wrong about the gums causing health problems... it can literally kill you! It’s scary! Love as always 💕
I love Azelaic acid, I get skinoren without a prescription and it’s just amazing, it gets rid of my acne like pimples literally overnight, helps with rosacea around my nose, evens my skim out, it’s just amazing
I just bought The Ordinary's formulation of Azelaic Acid (suspension). I have not used it yet, I am waiting till I finish my round of Retain-A. ( will start a routine soon with Alpha Arbutin 2%, Niacinamide, Retinoid 5% Grandactive, Azelaic Acid, and Moisture (e.g. this will be my nighttime routine starting next week - Still witing for the Magnesium Asorbly Phosphate to be ready, out of stock with The Ordinary at this current date 8/2020).

Just a tip.... Rather than steaming your clothes every morning, you can take out what you want to wear the night before, and use a spray bottle on the mist setting, and shake it out. Wrinkle free and dry by morning. I've been doing this for ages.

Hi dr dray! I’ve been using mineral sunscreen for awhile and always hated the white cast. I got the idea one day to put a tiny bit of turmeric in it because my skin is already sort of yellow toned. It works so good and makes zero white cast, and I haven’t gone back since. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

In Europe we have Skinoren 15% azelaic acid. I use one day Skinoren and the other day Airol (tretinoin)
