First of all, respect to you for owning a Futaba. Rock solid product, company and quality. My solid choice always over the slick and stupid horizon hobby brand, spektrum. During my time all my field buddies with spek always had regular brown-outs and had that stupid initializing pin or something. Futaba. Never had brown out, never need initializing more than once. As a control freak, how can I tolerate unreliability?
    Anyways, regarding rates and expo.
My preference was always: rate 100% for full servo travel. (Why add any limiting?)
and then add 25% more expo(high sensitivity). So, at 1/4 stick travel I would get full rudder travel for quicker tail response.
I would recommend always 100% travel(unless there is mechanical binding somewhere in your linkage).
Then either "dumb it down" or "speed it up" by adjusting the expo, dumb = longer stick throw and speed = shorter stick throw to get to full servo travel.
    Hope that makes sense.

Brown outs are not brand related they are user error and a voltage issue. I've flown spektrum for the past 10 plus years with no issues. I fly 3d all brands. I switched this year to a Radiomaster tx16s and I absolutely love the radio. I'm almost certain it's a futaba knock off lol. Futaba are excellent radios. Problem is a lot of rc aircraft and helis are geared around this bnf shit and horizon hobby caters to that. I find that most people that fly spektrum skip over learing and make all kinds of mistakes because all they want to do is fly and the bnf products make that possible and because of this they have no idea what they are doing resulting in all kinds of crashes

@@alwaysflying6540 User error is good point, but again us "futaba users" are just as dumb as everyone else. We make same mistakes. The difference is futaba programming and system prevents that from happening.

I used to think BNF and RTF is a good thing for beginning rc heli pilots. Not so much. Try it. Buy it. Crash it. Fix it? How? Quit it. There is no shortcut with this hobby. Only Triple threats masters succeed. Builder, Programmer, Pilot.

@trexinvert I completely agree with you. Upcoming pilots need build the model and program it to fully understand how it works. When I used to work in hobbyshops, it was sickening how many people bought helicopters and had zero interest in repairing it. I was at a loss for words to be honest. I'm not sure if the bnf models helped or hurt the hobby because of this

@trexinvert I never found futaba hard to use. I did find it hard to understand at times. They definitely could have made things a little easier to understand. That quaily was and is amazing to this day. When I made the leap into open source radio that I own now, I found it extremely challenging but rewarding. I found myself to be a beginner all over again. Even with my experience! That's what makes this hobby great, in my opinion. Always learning. People give up too easy these days

Ur a beast 💪 I'm still gradually working my way to being more comfortable flying in colder temps LOL Thx for tuning in 🙌

Was there a tail twitch when you had the torque tube? You caught a bent tail boom, perhaps there's some other mechanical issue causing the twitch? BTW I just bought an XL Nimbus 550 w/Neo and VBar transmitter should be decent weather by me tomorrow.

There was a twitch when I had the torque tube which is why I decided to switch to the belt drive at this time in case the issue was the TT rod in the boom. With that said, the twitch is less with the belt drive and I do feel that I can do more tuning of the tail gain before coming to the conclusion that it's not going away. Fingers cross I can tune it out. Other than that twitch, it is flying nice. The tail blowing out as much as it is right now on severe pitch pumps is a little concerning but again, with more tuning of the tail, I'm hoping that will be muted significantly if not removed entirely.
Congrats on the Nimbus 550 👏🏽👏🏽 I was looking at that heki this past summer. It looks really nice 😍 I'm sure u'll really enjoy it! Hope u get nice weather and get to fly it tomorrow 🙏🏽 Fly safe 👊🏽💯

@@AJsHeliJourney I think guys were changing out the tail pulley's on these to fix this issue. I don't think the guy who made the pulleys makes them any more.
Hope you're doing well, Happy thanksgiving AJ. I got a new Piuma 700 on sale today to replace the one that got destroyed. Winter can be depressing when you start flying heli's i've learned...

@@MP422ownz Happy Thanksgiving! I hope u and ur loved ones have a great one 🙏🏽 Congrats on the new heli 🙌🏽 Nothing like a new heli/build to help get us through the winter months 😁
@MP422ownz I could change out the tail pulley as I have several spares but they are all OEM Align pulleys. Nothing is off the table but tbh, the issue right now is not bad at all. I will def continue to work at tuning the issues I have now out but the heli is very flyable right now. Most importantly, I'm able to fly at the higher head speeds I was after now 👍🏽 I will continue to keep everyone posted on what I'm doing to keep making the heli fly better for my flying 🙂
