Great explanations Richard. You don't simplify and at the same time it is easy to follow your explanations! I love your encouraging words at the end that there was never a better time to start with RC helis than now. There are many great ready to bind helis on the market you take out of rhe box and fly. And even I managed to build a OMP M4 and a M4 Max kit although I have rather two left hands and was very afraid before I started. So come on new pilots! It is really possible! You can do it!

when i was 17 years old i spent the better part of a year reading up and understanding how all that worked albeit it was wrt to a flybar system. thank you for making this video for all the promising young pilots out there!

This is great ❤. Do you have a setup video (pitch and throttle curves) for beginners?

    What happened to procession?
To tilt forward, doesn't the swashplate have to tilt left so that the action occurs 90° later in the rotors?

The 90 degree phasing is handled above the swash. I decided to just cover the basic components in this video, and do another one on aerodynamics if there's any interest.

@@rchelicopter Oh, yes. I see it now. The linkage to the rotor blades is set up at their 90° so that holding right cyclic makes the swashplate lean right while the forward blade gets the negative pitch input. Clever design.

it's already designed into the heli, and you don't really have to think about procession or other theoratical stuff, if you are only going to enjoy flying them.
just like you don't really need to know how engines and transmissions function, in order to drive a car with an automatic transmission.

Glad you liked it. Now we'll be able to talk about all these things :D
