  • Street Food In BRUNEI Is AMAZING!!! Bandar Seri Begawan Brunei has many places to eat street food but pasar malam is a heaven for amazing street foods. I tried so many different Bruneian street foods such as Nasi Katok, Cendol, Kueh Tempis, and others. Come enjoy this street food tour in brunei. Borneo has its own foods and Brunei is no exception to that rule, it truly embodies the essence of Southeast Asia food culture.

    Who am I?
A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

Fun fact: it's both 'ringgit' and 'dollar'; Ringgit Brunei in Malay, Brunei dollar in English. Although you don't say "Malaysian dollar" nor "Ringgit Singapura", you can for Brunei money!

You should try Brunei traditional food pais daging which is sticky beef or lamb covered in leaves and then covered in aluminium foil.
It's very good but not talked enough by Bruneian compared to ambuyat.

Kway Teow refers to the type of noodle. And that noodle is usually the one which has the big, fat and flat features. It's a very popular dish in Brunei and in Southeast Asia in general. The more popular one ( or the original one rather), is the Chinese made version. It's really got a very distinct taste and it's quite flavorful too. But now, it seems that a lot of locals have been able to emulate or replicate that same taste after learning to properly cook and prepare the Kway Teow dish themselves. The dish was used to be dominated by the Chinese here in Brunei in terms of its taste, preparation and even presentation ( technically, still is). I can talk about this dish all day long but long story short, it's the best tasting meal and a very good weight gainer hahahaha! ( seriously, it is ). Hey, thanks for putting out the good words there about Brunei. Much obliged, brother

Salaam Br. Watching your shows from So. Calif and enjoying your travels. A slight correction. Sadaqa as you mentioned is “donation” whereas the real meaning is “charity given voluntarily in order to please God. It’s also described as a voluntary charitable act towards others, whether through generosity, love, compassion or faith”. The brother from Brunei who gave you the “sticky rice with prawns” was doing just that. Enjoy your trip and the good food wherever you go.

Brunei is much more cheaper than my country singapore . Although currency is same but brunei is way more cheaper compare with singapore . In singapore you hardly/cant even find that mee kuay teow @ $1 with that kind of portion . N brunei is bigger country compare to singapore .. Singapore is just 1 tiny dot . So ya i missed the price everything in brunei used to be like in singapore in the 90s. Now everything is expensive in Singapore 😢

You keep saying Brunei is small do you know your hotel is in 1 area with all the shops, restaurants, hotels situated at gadong, There are many other areas which you need to access by car which has Hotels, shops. Etc, Then there are other district which you definitely cannot access on foot unless you want to walk for weeks before arriving.
