I used to live in Brunei. This vlog is quite refreshing because when I left Brunei, Pasar Malam in Gadong didn't look that way. Sayang, marami ka pang hindi na-try na food...or may kasunod pa itong vlog na ito? It would be best if you had tried the following:
1. Ambuyat, is their national dish made of tapioca starch eaten with chandas (similar to chopsticks) and dipped in a wide variety of dips.
2. Rojak, yup, it isn't a Bruneian dish pero para lang maiba since you've tried Nasi Katok twice yata. They have different versions pero the best ang Sotong (cuttlefish).
3. Daging Kebab, these are pita pocket sandwiches made of beef chunks and cucumber habang nasa Pasar Malam ka.
4. Mee Goreng or Kwey Teow basah - typical lang na mee goreng smothered with thick/starchy broth with egg (ala Nido soup)
5. Ayam Penyet or Pece Lele - mukhang hindi masarap ung nakain mong ayam penyet kasi malamig na. Usually it's freshly cooked upon order talaga. Pecel Lele is like ayam penyet pero fried hito version.
6. Mee Soup, may mga non-halal Chinese restaurants na they allow you to customize your noodle soup. Ikaw bahala sa toppings and noodles.
7. For drinks, sayang namiss mo ang Teh C Special. It's a three-layer milk tea that consists of milk, arnibal, and tea. This is refreshingly good!
8. Hati Buyah, eto feeling ko magugustuhan ng marami nating kababayan. Fried na baga pero ito parang tapa-cut na pinapapak lang din nila. No need vinegar dip kasi malasa siya and matamis.
9. Fried Chicken Wings sa Jerudong, kakaiba atake nito kasi it's a combination of Western style and kampong (country) style dahil may sambal dip.
10. Kolomee and assorted roasts at Chinese Restaurants in Kiulap. Mas masarap ang Kolomee eaten with pickled green chilli kaysa chilli sauce. Try it next time!
11. Ayamku Restaurant - eto ang #1 local fastfood nila that mainly serves fried chicken pero marami silang iba ibang klaseng meals.
12. Sana navisit mo din ung Lim Ah Siaw Restaurant sa loob ng Pork Market (the most haram place in Brunei). This is interesting kasi who would've thought may restaurant inside a palengke.
13. Other non-halal classic restaurants like Thiam Hock, Tasty Corner, Big Mama, Filipino canteen Ren-Yi's at marami pang iba.
Maraming Chinese restaurants sa Kiulap or Gadong area pati sa Seria and Kuala Belait. Sana na-contact mo si Thanis Lim, he's the most popular food vlogger there and may pusong Pinoy. :) Hope makabalik ka ulit ng Brunei!
Two days is enough to tour the whole country pero give it a week para matry and enjoy mo ang lahat ng food. The country may seem boring pero it has a lot to offer. :)

hahaha! i spoke too soon! you did visit the pasar malam. I lived in Gadong for 2 years. Roti John at yung kueh malaya. Wala talagang usual night life dyan! Anyway, may mga restaurant sa Gadong that is open til wee hours ng umaga.

Mahal transpo sa Brunei dahil bibihira public transpo nila. Bawat tao diyan may sariling sasakyan.
Basta Halal food means Clean Food, Muslim didn't eat dirty food...
Whats a dirty food? If it's a street food it's already dirty from a dust/ dirt, so it doesn't matter if it's halal or not 😂.. plus if u consume more calories a day, then u can still get fat. No wonder some Muslims are fat.. no pun intended

That market at Gadong was the worst food I have ever had. Nasi Katock, Beef Rendang, Satay, it was all really poor, it does have nice drinks though. The best food I had in Brunei was in an Indian restaurant, and a Jolibee! The local food is meh, just poor quality trash.
