When I did my first Telsa-testride in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in 2017 the salesperson recommended your TH-cam channel 👍🏼 since 2019 I am in love with my M3 LR 🤩 thank you, Bjørn!
I can relate to your story Bjørn , being the only filipino in a small town in Denmark , moving computer with shopping cart all that things miss that 90's
Oh man, those Doom/Duke/Quake LAN parties where you spend the first few hours getting the computers to communicate via Serial. Brutal stuff, but good memories all the same!
One of your best videos Bjorn 👍 I always thought your childhood must have been hard. Kids aren’t born racist, they learn that from others around them. Thanks for sharing your life story. Helps us world citizens understand each other better👏🏻
I feel you man :-) I was also good at maths and my peers would look at me like I was an alien :-D Today, I'm married, two kids, good job at the university... IT industry. You are right, now we can only laugh :-)))
As a nerdy teen, I visited Norway just after high school to live with a friend who was an exchange student in my town. Living there for the summer in Alesund, I actually became interesting to the ladies... That summer in Norway was actually an amazing life experience. It has been awesome seeing your videos - lets see more from NIO!
Hello, I've been watching your videos since you camped with Optimus Prime at -36C. Thank you for showing a bit of your past now. That shows that you have a heart and no electric motor. :) I look forward to every new video from you. Greetings from Germany
I am the same age as Bjørn, and also grew up partially in the same area in Bodø. But at a slightly earlier part of life. We moved about when Bjørn moved in. It was the last few years of the cold war, and the town was certainly dominated by having a huge and strategically significant NATO air base smack in the middle of town. I think that easened up in the 90’s! I remember they hung an old Mig-17 as a mascot from the ceiling in the civil part of the airport as some sort of token of brighter days;-) Haven’t been there for a few years, but seeing the characteristic fences between the houses, and the cozy fire hydrants we don’t see anywhere else in Norway gave a warm, fuzzy nostalgic feeling.
Nice memories. I was born in Finland and have been living in Canada for the past 45 years. Teen age years were the hardest time to figure out life. Scandinavia and Canada are the best countries in the world.
Apart from the EV tech ones, this is one of my favorite videos of yours Bjørn! I can totally relate with your story cause as a European foreigner moving to Oslo in a few months i can feel the stress someone must feel in a new place. Thank you for sharing your story with us and please make more videos like these if possible in the future. Memories are a precious thing. Greetings from a future "neighbor" !
this is such a great video, maybe the best of your videos I watched as of yet. I enjoyed it so much, a lot of "ah yes, ..." moments regarding one's becoming of age. Once more one can realize that being popular as a kid has nothing to do with ones adult version being successful and content in life.
I used to sell ice cream when I was 13 - in the middle of a terrible economic crisis in Bulgaria in '97, so I completely understand what you have been through ;) I also used to go fishing at that age a lot - this was the world to me! Haven't done it for 20 years, so wondering what made me kill so many fish (that the cat used to eat mostly) :D
You had really cool home and I know how nice it's to have gaming buddy so close when you were young. I also had a friend who used to leave right next to my home when we were kids and we still hangout and play games sometimes as adults.
Hey Bejon you are a truly grounded man! . Memories from childhood up-to the start of career is truly beyond the explaining it in few words its bible to all. Once you are busy you will away from it, but then, once you have kids, your kids takes you to those moments back!! You are doing very good job. I enjoy your trips and the way you are giving feedback/ test results of Electric vehicles are very helpful. Thanks and Best of luck!
Nice one, Bjorn. Exactly the same school experience in England! Interesting that there used to be a North / South issue in Norway...again, same here! Cheers.
My friends and I would also bring our computers over and have gaming and file sharing parties in the 90s and early 2000s. I had a 19" CRT and a full sized tower to lug. Played original GTA, Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, Hexen, Need for Speed and so on. We uses IPX/SPX protocol for a LAN or a null-modem cable if just two people. Eventually we were using TCP/IP on our own LANs with cabling going everywhere with network switches and hubs. Great times!
16:15 10base2 with BNC connectors. that was the same time I messed around with computers too back in the 90s as a kid. 10baseT adapters, and hubs were too expensive, so BNC cables were much more affordable and no expensive hub was needed.
We had 6 people „LAN“ parties using serial connection. Only two could connect so we switched around and had 3 1v1s simultaneously. Then we got Coax LAN and met all excited but we forgot to buy the the resistors you need to put on each end. Also played Duke Nukem 3D against a friend via Landline. You had to gibts setup and one had to select „wait for call“ and the other type in the phonenumber. Took forever for the modems to directly connect and we had to hang up if one of our parents wanted to use the phone. 😂
Brother Bjorn, keep up the good work. I had similar experiences being a minority in the US. It wasn’t always easy, but the sacrifice that our parents made to bring us to the land of opportunity was a gift. Kids will be kids, and the best way to stop a bully is to stand up to them. They will just move on to their next easy target.
Thanks for the tour... It's interesting to find out about your path in life, so I hope you make another video like this someday with some other reference points from your youth. Keep up the good work, Bjørn!
One of the things i love about your videos is their down to earth and simple approach. You don't get the same stressed and forrcefull "everything is great/crap/mind-blowing/spectacular/wow!" that you so often get from other TH-camrs. And sometimes the smaller things are just so much more interesting. I think you are really brave Björn, when you in addition to the authenticity in your videos, also release videos like this. Personal life, with it's up and it's downs. Most of us have a story of some sort and hearing yours and your reflections is great input into my own reflections on ife. So thanks Björn for being so brave. Keep on keeping it real! 👍🙏
This video has no cars or driving, but I enjoyed it better than the ones that do. Nice memories from your childhood. I visited my hometown earlier in the week, so I can totally relate.
When our ship stopped in Bodo, we walked past the town to the marina and then on the way back had a walk along Storgata. Good to see the town again from a different perspective.
I, too, played a lot of Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem back in those days. Friday fragfests after work, and six hours of that went by like ten minutes. What a distortion of time!
Really appreciated your visit back to where you grew up. I identified with the no girlfriend part and also being an outsider -- well, not one of the "cool" group. Was struck by your mention of discrimination against others from northern Norway from southerners. Bad manners being passed down from one generation to the next is more universal than I knew.
Another great episode in the 'Life of Bjørn' series. You should try and drop one of these in every 5-10 trip videos, just to keep things fresh. I've only been to rural Sweden once but there's something relaxing about these towns you show us. Not much traffic or idiots around in Scandinavia.
wow! It's so interesting to watching how changed a places, where you lived, and where I never was. Like also stories from your life. Just wow, what can I say!
This is a very heartwarming story of a hard working, never give up person's life snippet. Can someone point me to the other video how Bjorn ended up in Norway as a kid?
Thank you for bringing back many memories. I found out you are 12 years younger than i, but same experiences with computer i guess. I startet with 13 years on Apple 2 and later as the 486 came started playing with Lan against other.Me and my friends had given about 10 Lan parties with up to 20 Guys 2 Days long. Long time ago....
Interesting background for various reasons. I wondered if Wifey watches these :-) Teen years are difficult years for sure, and I remember how kids coagulate into groups for a variety of reasons. Not being accepted can be tough. Not feeling like you can talk to the girl and then being shot down with the boyfriend announcement, which may not have been true, you know, is how it is in teen years. As you get a lot older, and I am much older than you, you change to speaking your mind and caring less if others don’t like it, as long as you aren’t offensive. They didn’t create the TV shows “Grumpy Old Men” for nothing. Haha.
Very interesting video. You obviously enjoyed your time there. I believe this is the furthest north you can go by train within Norway. So somewhat of an outpost. 😊
Thanks for sharing. I dream about one day getting some of the communication skills you have. Presume a lot of practice will help ☺️ Keep up the good work.
You weren’t a loser you were a person growing and finding his way.
So in other words a Beck song!
Very insightful stories Bjorn! Little did Young Bjorn realize he’d become THE EV guru of Norway some 25+ years later.
THE EV guru of the WORLD!
Yes, the EV guru of the WORLD
When I did my first Telsa-testride in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in 2017 the salesperson recommended your TH-cam channel 👍🏼 since 2019 I am in love with my M3 LR 🤩 thank you, Bjørn!
I live in Italy and definitely he is the world's guru about EVs
I can relate to your story Bjørn , being the only filipino in a small town in Denmark , moving computer with shopping cart all that things miss that 90's
You are just the most likeable guy, Bjőrn. And so hard working, decent and talented. Keep on keeping on!
So you were always good at delivering news to the people, the tomorrow's news.
Yes, Loved that show!! Family-friendly and educational...
"Most beautiful girl in the world" made me tear up. You're a good dude. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself.
Bjorn is literally the WORLD'S most experienced EV driver/reviewer. Nobody on planet Earth has his experience. Super likeable guy!
Oh man, those Doom/Duke/Quake LAN parties where you spend the first few hours getting the computers to communicate via Serial. Brutal stuff, but good memories all the same!
Doctor, chef, EV blogger, doesn't matter; your mom did an amazing job. Thank you for sharing these stories.
One of your best videos Bjorn 👍
I always thought your childhood must have been hard. Kids aren’t born racist, they learn that from others around them.
Thanks for sharing your life story. Helps us world citizens understand each other better👏🏻
This kind of videos are super interesting.
They encourage young people to follow their dreams and keep working hard!

Thanks for sharing such a personal story B, we all have a history.
Hardwork and honesty never goes in vain
You are now a teacher!! A very good teacher!!!
Living well is the best revenge.
Great video, Bjorn.
Well done Bjorn, was nice to meet you in Erftstadt some years ago. Keep on!
Hello, I've been watching your videos since you camped with Optimus Prime at -36C. Thank you for showing a bit of your past now. That shows that you have a heart and no electric motor. :)
I look forward to every new video from you.

Yes to more sightseeing from Bodø!
My birthplace (1959) :-)

Mate,
Adversity builds character and you have turned out with a wonderful self determined life
Nice to hear snippets of young Bjorn's life. You've come a long way, man, & the road is never ending. Cheers!

Winner in my book, coolest guy on the Internet. Thanks for sharing this Björn, you are great!
18:15 yes enjoyed. Thank you. Much more interesting than 1000 km challenge!
It’s very interesting to hear your story! And, living in Norway myself, I really appreciate hearing your perspectives on EVs here.
You are such a good guy Björn!! Just go forward!!💪
Bjorn, this new thing you are trying, sharing your childhoods memories with us is f..ing awesome, continue doing this!
You had really cool home and I know how nice it's to have gaming buddy so close when you were young. I also had a friend who used to leave right next to my home when we were kids and we still hangout and play games sometimes as adults.

These stories of your early days in Norway are so nice to hear!
Brilliant Bjorn.
The development of a Ninja!
Thanks for sharing some stories of your childhood.
Great story about your life and where you grew up!
Enjoyed you reminiscing. loving your work
old stories, sometimes childhood is cruel especially in class, luckily people mature, thanks for sharing ;-)
Brother Bjorn, keep up the good work. I had similar experiences being a minority in the US. thank you very much for the interesting emotional insights into your life
Love hearing your story! You are made of great stuff!
You are a beautiful person.
Hope one day I will meet you in person.
You are always REAL!!
Sounds like secondary school everywhere in the world. loved this video Bjorn.
Thanks for the tour... It's interesting to find out about your path in life, so I hope you make another video like this someday with some other reference points from your youth. Keep up the good work, Bjørn!
Love your stories. More please?
Loved the video very much. We are definitely from the same generation . Your slice of life sent me back in time.
Brilliant video. Thank you for sharing your youth.

Nice trip down the memory lane Bjorn.
Sheeeet, I am proud of you Bjorn!

Really interesting. You're good at telling stories my dude. And do keep the Bodø dialekt. Its our staple :D Would like to see more for sure.
Good video, I like the story of your life. Cheers from a Thai guy living in the Bay Area.
Bjorn your description of your life growing up and the difficulties described is probably the majority of young lives. Thanks for sharing.
Late to the party, but thank you for making this video, I really appreciate it. Hard to explain why…
Awesome video Bjørn! Nice to hear about your humble beginnings.
Nice to hear your story and you should be proud of yourself. Keep up the good work.
Cool of u to share some of ur background history. Respect👍👍
I, too, played a lot of Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem back in those days. Friday fragfests after work, and six hours of that went by like ten minutes. What a distortion of time!
Celine Dion 🤣It's tough out there. But I feel you man lol
That was really interesting Bjorn, its always great to hear personal stories
So fascinating to hear this! Yep, bright kids get a lot of static from their peers.

So it was in the old Days. Cool Memories, you Talking about.
Enjoyed this. Thanks Bjørn
sand as isolation is perfect soundproof and fire safe, but not good against water, but good on keeping the house warm or cold
i have been to Bodo on the way to Lofoten.
everyone is lost when they are a kid, i think you are confident in your own skin and thats why everyone likes you
Precious!

Some very honest anecdotes there from adolescence, kids can be horrible.
Very interesting video. You obviously enjoyed your time there. I believe this is the furthest north you can go by train within Norway. So somewhat of an outpost. 😊
Kul, intressant, lite sorgligt. 🌹
Sand in the floor or more likely a fine clay that was often used in old houses as insulation.
It would make good thermal mass to keep the heat. It would also be environmentally better than concrete.
