I actually would get this for traveling and playing casually, but for beginners the flx4 is the better option. I learned on a flx4 before moving to an xdj and the flx4 has everything you need to actually make the jump to an xdj. This to me is essentially a toy. Save up for the flx4 if you can, but I’m glad there’s a budget option available. It may force some more creativity in your mixing which is never a bad thing
If you're a beginner DJ and looking for your first controller, just get a used mid range controller instead of FLX2. First, it doesn't have gain knob which really helps when mixing. 2. It's missing a lot of dedicated buttons like the performance pad mode buttons and effects section. 3. It doesn't have volume meter which shows if the loudness of the 2 song is balance.
The e-waste controller got another iteration... I don't know man, FLX4 is a much better starting point than this thing. It's lacking so many things that anyone will want to upgrade after a couple hours of use, while FLX4 is quite usable even as your skills get better.

All you need to do is learn how to beat match manually, then work out a workflow with the pads, knobs and switches. If you have Auto Gain set in the parameters, it shouldn't be a problem. This isn't the days of dramatically louder than the other songs, you need minor adjustments at best.

Like? I welcome smart fader. You can continue to try and look busy with all the knob twisting house/edm DJ's do that doesn't actually make things better. Song selection, time and place are key to being a good DJ. Technical stuff like operating a cross fader is something I've done for over 30 years. Now I can add effects without having to twist a knob, that is an improvement not a gimmick.
As Phil from Digital DJ has said, the DJ-200 isn't enough because it lacks a sound card. The FLX 2 fixes that problem and retains some of the features of the 200 and 400, while adding some new features as well. I don't know why some largely inexperienced DJ's have so much to say about a product that isn't targeted to them.
Same review.different controller.december there will be another beginner controller for beginners.i watched 100s reviews before buying my numark mixrrack pro fx 3 yrs ago.
Mixtrack Pro FX, any recent Numark controller is for Serato. Serato is hobbled unless you have a Pro license but again, why are people so quick to DJ when you can't play more than EDM/Tech House set because those are 90% of the videos on TH-cam.
Why is this controller being labeled as "beginner"? It seems like a great choice for pros to use for crate preparation, test mixes, and use as backup device when that drunk idiot's request for Despacito gets rejected and he/she thinks it's a good idea to retaliate by spilling their drink all over the 10k EUR equipment...
Noooo no no no no. Exactly when you think things couldn't be worse, AlphaTheta just throws poop into your eyes. When does it stop ?? The whole DJ business is so cramped up in the last few years that even three week old babies can DJ. I never ever back down on evolution for many things, but this is just milking out the lowest from the lowest just to make a few coins. This has nothing to do with DJ'ing or 'providing for' anymore. This has ÉVERYTHING to do with making money and ONLY money over everything else. This got to stop. Manufacterers need to stop putting effort and R&D time and money into these things. Please .. am I the only one thinking this ? I'm not talking about the size or the amount of decks here. Just to clarify, like I stated above, I'm not against evolving at all. Why on earth would anyone want this ?
Evolving from what? You have controllers with no jog wheels, that work with hand gestures, virtual reality, etc. What do you mean by lack of innovation? 3 year old children? Be serious, can your 3 year old DJ? I don't think so and stop being so melodramatic. This is a step down from the FLX 4, but here's the problem with most of the negative comments including yours. You couldn't get the most out of this controller anyway or even your own equipment so what is the point of making a comment?
@@YouriHL If given the opportunity I would teach DJ's, however what does that have to do with my comment? My point is I don't come to certain websites or videos where entry level hardware is being reviewed and sh*t on it for lacking features. I also don't see using sync, fader start or smart fader innovations as threats. Notice nobody ever talks negatively about using smart color effects, very interesting. Visit my buddy Dennis The Introvert's channel, he did a routine on what people thought at the time was inferior, the Hercules DJ Console.
Enable Auto Gain, what are you guys playing that you have to make such huge adjustments in volume between tracks? All this talk of track preparation seemingly doesn't mean having a set of songs you want to play and know them well enough that you don't have search for their location while playing live. All that takes is from forethought.
How is it a paid promotion? MoJax has the same controller, they are given to them by Pioneer to review. How about this, you take $180 out of your pocket and give everybody a "fair and balanced" review???

Song selection, time and place are key to being a good DJ. Technical stuff like operating a cross fader is something I've done for over 30 years. Now I can add effects without having to twist a knob, that is an improvement not a gimmick.
I totally agree with you, they haven't really came out with anything that has impressed me enough want to buy.
its litterally just a ddj 200 though
Where s the gain? Trim?lol
flx4 is way way better
It also costs more, it should be better, but it's not dramatically better.
No looping controls no thank you
Beginners don't need loop...
And there is the loop mode.
@@dennisdmenace2833 They don't and you are the master of looping? Tell me more.
Artemas - I like the way you kiss me
Noooo no no no no.
@@AnthonyThomas-o4l I teach DJ's, how about you ?
@@YouriHL If given the opportunity I would teach DJ's, however what does that have to do with my comment? My point is I don't come to certain websites or videos where entry level hardware is being reviewed and sh*t on it for lacking features. I also don't see using sync, fader start or smart fader innovations as threats. Notice nobody ever talks negatively about using smart color effects, very interesting. Visit my buddy Dennis The Introvert's channel, he did a routine on what people thought at the time was inferior, the Hercules DJ Console.
@@AnthonyThomas-o4l I am a plane.
@@YouriHL I have any 8 year old with a newer ipad. What entry level controller do you suggest?
Same price get a Traktor 😂
“Legit dj setup” ? Come on. As a proper reviewer you could at least mention the lack of a gain control and load knob.
Enable Auto Gain, what are you guys playing that you have to make such huge adjustments in volume between tracks? All this talk of track preparation seemingly doesn't mean having a set of songs you want to play and know them well enough that you don't have search for their location while playing live. All that takes is from forethought.
alpha thetaaaaa 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣poorpoor quality and looks like a cheap toy
What you haven't touched it, or even seen it in person so how do you know so much?
Piece of plastic
All these paid options BS and subscription insanity makes me lose intereset in this ...
How is it a paid promotion? MoJax has the same controller, they are given to them by Pioneer to review. How about this, you take $180 out of your pocket and give everybody a "fair and balanced" review???
Where is Browse buttons?
Dogwater. Just grab the FLX4. This isn’t even a discussion to be had
Why? Again, you can't rock a party on this, having more control won't make any better.
